Hi Laurie, you're off to a great start!  I love to walk also, like so many of us here do.  Best of luck on Saturday, how long/far is the walk?  Take it easy...

I've walked on my lunch hour 3 days straight now and walked with DD again after work last night.  Got home and stretched and did a few strengthening exercises.  I am determined to get more strength back!!!!! and balance!!!

I'm not sure how long the walk is but I figure if I get tired then I can stop.  It's not like the Susan G Komen walk where you have pledges, so it won't matter if I stop part way thru plus some of the gals from the breast cancer support group in Everett will be there so I'll have aa on site support group lol.

Laurie, congratulations on how well you are doing

Meg, so wonderful to hear from you.  Haven't been to MN in a bit since DS moved, but I think of you everytime we visit him and I'm not driving all that waySmile   Happy to hear these first few rounds are treating you right.

I haven't been keeping up with my exercise as much as I'd like....

This morning, I did a little yoga, and I felt better.

Yesterday, I was on the local Myrtle Beach News...  A story about a salon that gives FREE wigs to cancer patients.  If I can figure out how to post it here, I will.   It's on FB...  :D

Nice to hear from Meg! Meg - you are doing a LOT in chemo!  I had a crash after AC #3, I hope this doesn't happen to you, but sometimes the AC's can be hard. Listen to your body! I know you are. It sounds like you are doing great!

I had two days of no exercise - I hate it when that happens. Yesterday I was able to go to Gym and do my "anti-lymphedema" weight routine (THIS IS REALLY WORKING!! I am so pleased to find something that works that is so good for me!) and I did the bike for 4.4+ miles. It was nice. Today I want to walk, but it is hot and humid again in NC, so am going to go after dinner time.

Thanks all for the congrats! Diane, My youngest is going to UNC-Wilmington in the Fall. She got into the honors scholars program and wants to be a Nurse! She is good at science and a very hard worker, so I hope she will get into the nursing program in 2 years. It is very competitive!

Kitty - I have a port scar that is very tiny and you can't even see it now, I have to really look for it to find it. I had my port put in about 2 years ago, in July. So! Don't Worry! Maybe it will just fade away like mine did! Mine is also horizontal. I never heard of vertical!

    KEEP MOVING!!! :)

Spring, my DD Krystle is a nurse!  She works in the PICU.  My younger DD wants to be a nurse too.  Best of luck to your DD!  how exciting.  So glad that your anti-lymph workouts are working!  GREAT NEWS!

I'm very sore from all my workouts this week!  Taking today off.  Just met DH for lunch and as we were walking i hear DD call us!  She was eating across the way from us and we didn't know it! haha  She is able to be out and about now, head up!  So excited.  She's coming to dinner tonight! YAY!

    YES, keep moving sisters!!!

Meg!!! (((hugs))) So good to hear from you. I don't stop in as often either but was very glad to hear from you. I so hope that your chemo keeps going as worry free as you made it seem!

Big Hi to everyone, like I said , not stopping in as often, busy I guess. Yesterday we went to the city where DS will go to university in the fall, had a look around and  looked at a few rental places. He will be moving in with his snowboarding buddy, she came  with us too. Got to know her, she is absolutely adorable, too bad she is taken, as I think she would be a good match for my boy.

Training in spinal injection procedures, ( no I don't put the needles in) so it has been a huge learning curve. Trying to exercise more too, weight hasn't gone down a bit and all I have are sore feet and hands to show for it. Will keep on though.

Congrats to all those doing the walks, you are my heros!

Gonna go snuggle with hubby now and watch a movie (aka have a nap)

Have a great weekend everyone and best of health and exercise to you all!

Work is... well, it's W O R K...    I had a talk with the boss/owner and they are keeping my schedule to THREE  days, and only 5 hours....   It works better for me.

Glad to see everyone is keeping active, in spite of the HEAT and HUMIDITY....

I am going to do chemo every Wednesday.  One of the girls from my work did ACT (like I'm supposed to be doing).  She said she'd feel fatigued by Friday afternoon and would sleep through the weekend.  Mondays are usually conference call days.  So, hopefully I can stay on the same type of schedule.

Meg - you are very ambitious!  Wow!  All that exercise during chemo!  Good for you, but be careful to not wear yourself out!  :)

    Hi Spring,

I got up early today and went out for a run.  I feel better when I exercise.  Yesterday I was feeling pretty stiff and sore.  I have been kinda depressed, maybe cause I had my onc appt. on Friday.  At times like this, it brings me back to three years ago, when I was dx'd, and  I am just so afraid of recurrence...

Hugs to any who need it...

    Kitty-good luck with your chemo!!

So I walked my 40 minutes yesterday really early, it was soooo hot, first really hot day for us!  100 Degrees, but several friend's car temps said up to 106.  Rode my bike to the pool in the afternoon and actually did a few laps, rested then did a few more.  After an hour of fun in the sun (well not really, ha), I rode home, and I must have overdone it cause I didn't feel so hot (even though I was really HOT, LOL), did a lot of lying around stretching all afternoon and vegging out!  DH left really early yesterday morning for the Bay Area.

Today a coworker asked me to lunch and after work have a chiro appt. so don't think I'll get any official exercise.  Oh, but I've been getting up each morning before work and doing a loosening up routine and doing 60 jumping jacks.  They are getting EASIER!  OMG, you have no idea how great that is for me!!!  YIPPEE!!!!!!!!

    Good job Springie!

And Harley, hugs to you chickie, so you go once a year to your onc...I still go every 3 months, but I think after the next one I get to make it every 6 months!  I have to go at the end of the week for a mammogram and more blood work, she is checking my estrogen and liver counts again.

    BIG Hey Hey Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Kiss

    Kari,

No, I go to my onc. every SIX months.  But, only because when I go, I have a huge list of questions for him, and even though he never really answers them, he said last time:

You always have a long list of questions, and they are good questions.  You are scared, and I don't know how I would feel if I were in your shoes.... so yes, you can keep coming in every SIX months.

But that is NOT what I wanted...  I want to go once a year...  I get so worked up when I go... but once a year, I still see my surgeon, and I think that seeing him in May, and then in June, seeing my onc., well, these appts. so close together may get me really worked up.

Gee, MY onc. NEVER checks my estrogen...    He really doesn't do much at all....   the blood work is just the standard  CBC,  checking the liver and the kidneys,  and I don't even think he listened to my lungs this time....

Harley, I know how you feel -- I don't like going either. It seems the more questions I ask, the worse it is for me. I've found if I just go, smile, say everything is fine, they poke and prod, and say come back in 4 months! (My onc - I go every 4 months!! and I get Zometa 2 times a year, and the Rads Onc, 2 x a year or more, so I am overe there like 8 times a year!!! ) I feel better when I don't ask questions. Isn't that odd? And I am a "data" person. But you're right, it is very scary -- I try not to focus on it and to focus on what I eat, my supplements, my exercise, and all the things I am doing to stay healthy. This makes me feel better. I suppose it is because I have some sense of control. But I realize that even doing all these things, there is no guarantee. But at least I feel better knowing I am doing everything i can do. No regrets...

Today it as hot, after dinner DH and I took our 2 mile walk and we were both drenched with sweat when we got home! I cranked up the air!!

Kari, when I first read you post, I thought it said you rode you bike IN the pool. And I was thinking, how absolutely wonderful to have a bike IN the pool! Talk about being cool while you ride! LOL!! Maybe there is an idea there??? LOL.

I did Zumba this afternoon.  I so love that class.  i know I look stupid, but it is fun.

Maybe I should get Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies, hmm a thought.

    joy congrats on holding steady.

kari the 8 miles took me 2 hours and 15 minutes.  I walked around my block 17 times. That gets boring, but I can jump in the house if need be.  Needless to say it doesn't happen often, I usually do not have that much time.

    Happy Monday!

Only got half my workout in yesterday.  DH and I got a 3 mile walk in, but that was it.  That feels SO GOOD to be able to say.  Today, though, really have to get some weight lifting time in addition to the walk.  Didn't do to well on the diet, so will have to be better today.  So far I can't get this weight to come down, but, what is there has more muscle and is looking trimmer.

Harley, Oh I see...duh I was getting your onc and surgeon mixed up!!  oh dear...what is wrong with me?! LOL  If you want to go once a year, just be straight with him, he'll understand.

I always think I have it so together and then when these appts. draw near, I get a bit frazzled too, its always the 'what ifs', they still creep into my thoughts everyday at some point and I try to turn it around quickly and focus on the good positive things I'm doing, like Spring said.  I can really relate.

OMG Spring, I CRACKED up when I read your post, biking in the pool, HAHA !!  I'm really laughing out loud in my cube...better stop or coworkers may have me committed...

Joy, so what is this 'specialist' all about????  Thinking of you...

Diane, our new Zumba queen!  Glad you are enjoying the class, that's great.  2 hours plus walking! YUK!!  haha  GREAT FOR YOU!!  you are an inspiration for sure

kmmd, a 3 mile walk is more than I usually get, great job!  I'm trying to gain more muscle too.

    Have a GREAT Day!

    Spring,

WOW!  I  guess I should just keep my mouth shut and endure these appts., as you do.  Yes, I am also a 'data' person, so I am always asking questions.  I guess I worry because even though we are doing everything we can to prevent a recurrence, well, I think I was pretty healthy BEFORE my bc dx, I was exercising, and running....   so IF it can happen when we are living a healthy lifestyle, then HOW do I relax and just move on??

Kari,  I must have mentioned my surgeon appt. awhile ago.  I know that alot of women don't have to see their surgeons any more, but...  I LOVE my surgeon, so I don't mind going to him. :D

    Hope everyone is keeping COOL...

    Harley
