    Meece, the small one was about the size of the ones my hubby caught Saturday in Tennessee.

    Well, I wouldn't be eating my fishies.  I can't wait to get the yard landscaped.  When the water settles from the new pond, i can take pictures of them at "home".

    we are on the catch/release program. He just likes drowning the worms.

    It is cool this morning with some fog in the area. We had big thunder storms again last night, calling for the same again this afternoon. Tomorrow night is the local Relay for Life, hopefully it won't rain it out like it did last year. The local breast cancer support group has formed a team 'Mardi Gras Mommas', our booth is a mardi gras theme selling chicken gumbo and displaying our art therapy bra project.

    Meece--the fishies are beautiful!  I can't wait to see them in their home. 

    Sheila--I haven't heard the "drowning worms" phrase for ages!  Made me smile.  Hope the Mardi Gras Mommas make lots of $$ and get very little rain!

    Sheila, I would have to walk a lot to work off the Gumbo I'd eat!  Our Relay for Life brought in 1.7 million dollars this year.  They said they are going to have to find a new venue for it next year so they can accomodate all the people!

    As the pond is settling itself there are a lot of bubbles on the surface, so when that clears up, the pictures will look good.

    Sheila, Have some Gumbo for me - sounds so good.  I hope it doesn't rain or worse storm for the relay for life.

    We had rain yesterday and last night and it's cooled down to normal temps in the low 70s.

    My Osteopathic manipulation doc saw my face yesterday and said I need to go to my PCP and get it checked out - he wasn't too pleased that I opted for no medical treatment.  Have to go see a doc in my PCPs office today and I'm sure some type of radiography will be in order - crap.

    Thanks for all your well wishes for tomorrow. We got the idea for the mardi gras mommas at our meeting in April, when we had a new member who just moved here from New Orleans and she volunteered to make the gumbo.  Another member works in the school system as a cafeteria manager and she is going to cook the rice for us to serve with the gumbo. and a grocery store is donating french bread from their bakery. Our T-shirts are 'baseball jersey' type with yellow sleeves and the writing on the front and back is in purple and green. We also have some beads to give out for a donation. It is going to be a fun night at relay.

    Last year we were having terrible storms on Friday night and it was moved to Saturday night.

    Shelia, as someone who is 1/2 cajun, I love your plan.  As we would say, "it's gonna be some good yeah."  Have fun and here's hoping for no rain and lots of donations.  By the way, I make a real mean seafood gumbo--but won't be using in Gulf seafood for some time now:(

    We are expected to get some rain today, buy they have said that all week.  We'll see.

    I love to make jambalaya, but Dh is not a fan, so I don't.  Now with Gulf shrimp out, I don't know what I'll put in mine.

    I'm at work Meece and cannot see the pic, but will see it tonight at home.  Yes, I would love any tomoatoes?  I'll swap tomatoes for some jambalaya! 

    We got no rain at home yesterday when we got home from work.  It poured at work and we live about 4 miles away.  Last night as we went to bed, it began lightening and thundering.  Got about an inch of rain during the night.  It is supposed to rain again today.  The grass was cut yesterday.  My DH and I laughed on the way to work today that it will be 3 inches taller this afternonn when we get home.

    those tomatoes look good! are they Roma? my neighbor's tomato plants are about 2 ft tall now, just about ready to bloom. He gives me free reign in his garden, if I need some tomatoes, cucumbers, or squash for supper, I can go in a pick what I need. He also said I can have the okra but I am not a big okra fan. He is retired and his wife passed away about 4 yrs ago from cancer, his garden is in the lot between our two houses and I keep an eye on the garden.

    HAVESTING!!!!!  I just got my tomatoes into the garden this last week!  Go ahead and ship some zucchini my way, I like to shred it and freeze it to use to make cookies, cakes, soups, etc during the winter.

    The tomatoes are grape-romas.  they are supposed to be about an inch long, but they have surpassed the two inch mark! I have three regular roma plants in ground, and four more in the greenhouse.  I love romas because they are perfect for salsa, sauce, ketchup and much more. 

    I have a cucumber almost ready to pick.  I have three okra plants, they are small right now, but last yer I had lots.  I like to saute them with some fresh tomatoes and onions.

    I bow to all of you - I love Jambalya and Gumbo but hate to cook (and am not that good at it), please send some to me!  Also please throw some tomatos my way Meece.  Too much wildlife at my house for a veggie garden although Michigan is on the same planting schedule as NM - Tomatos and veggies just went in the ground, a long way from harvesting.

    It's beautiful and sunny outside right now, 64 degrees - we're supposed to be in the low 70s today, I think we're supposed to have storms tonight and I'm supposed to make an appearance at my niece's Relay for Life at her high school.  She's worked so hard on putting it together so I hope it isn't cancelled!

    They are fun for a while, a short while, but when it goes on with 100+ for weeks, I'd gladly give them away.

    We've had so much rain I'm afraid our garden is going to float away! Our pole beans have finally pushed through the soil but the lack of sun is keeping them small. And what do we have today...RAIN!

    The temps here have fluxuated. between 60's at night to 80's daytime. Right now it is overcast and showers are in the upper mtns. hopefully they will stay away this afternoon and tonight. Weather guessers are saying we may hit 90 tomorrow and Sunday.

    I am not sure how much longer I will be able to harvest my peas.  They don't like the heat (even the type I grow which are supposed to be more heat tolerant.)  It's 89 right now.

    Today started out foggy and chilly, then turned warm and sunny. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy, heavy at times with embedded thunderstorrms and a high chance of hail.  Welcome to springtime in Miane.

    Meece, I'll trade you some rainy and cloudy days for two sunny days! The rain knocked the petals right off of the flowers. The only thing growing well is the grass and weeds!

    We were coming home tonight around 9:30 and the temp was 78 degrees.  It is supposed to get to 93 tomorrow.

    Well, it was SUPPOSED to be a bit foggy but breezy this morning and start in with rain and thunderstorms this afternoon.  So I started hanging out a few clothes to dry and guess what?  I got rained on. Not just rained on, but RAINED on!  Oh. well. welcome to springtime in Maine!

    We did have some lightning last night about 9:30 at Relay and some rain showers but the biggest part of the storm blew around us.

    Shelia, tell us about the Relay and your Mardi Gras group.  It was HOT and humid when we went to bed last night.  Same today.  Possiblity of some rain.  We put in our rain barrel that catches water from the gutters.  The rain we had recently filled in about 1/4 full.  It is 55 gallons.
