Menopause and hormone therapy

There is confusion about whether I am pre-menopause or post-menopause at age 46. When I started having hot flashes and night sweats while on birth control pill a year ago, they took me off the pill for a month, did blood work, and decided I was in menopause and put me on HRT. My periods stopped as soon as I was off the pill, but there's been some light spotting and even a couple "light periods" in the months that followed.I stopped HRT the day they discovered I had breast cancer.

 Is Tamoxifen only for pre-menopausal women? Do they switch people part way through treatment, those of us that fall in the middle or may change within the five-year medication treatment plan?

    Yes, they will switch you. I was told that tamoxifen would be used for the first year or so after there is no evidence of a period, then would switch to an AI. (Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin).

    I was pre when I had chemo the it stopped after 3 treatments then it came back after 6 months I had a total hysterctomy 3months ago.

    I started Tomox right after chemo & will be it for three years then be switched that med plan has not changed
