Hi there,

I have been on tamoxofin for 2 weeks. I have had no side effects as of yet. If your going to get them when do they start? I have some minor hot flashes ( 1 a night that lasts a few minutes but nothing other then that. I took the test that said I was an immediate metabolizer so I am going to have oomph then start on a AIL but in the mean time  I am wodnering some things.

How long until you get se's from tamoxifin?

Is it ok to take Vitamin D-3 and Calcium during Tamoxfin?

Is there anything you SHOULDN't take?

Thanks for your help!

I was only on it for three months myself. I remember getting massive Hot flashes, no other SE's I can remember.

A lot of foods and medications do interfer with Tamox.  Check out

I've been on it for 4 years and don't have any major side effects.  Hot flashes..but what's normal and what's a side effect for hot flashes? lol   The only annoying (not major) side effect I have is quite a bit of clear discharge.  Not everyday, though.  I guess I would rather have that problem than the opposite.   I have alot of trouble losing weight...I guess I could blame Tamox on that, haha.

YES take Vit D-3 & Calcium!  I stay away from grapefruit.

Yes stay away from grapefruit!  There is an enzyme in it that works against tamoxifen.  My naturopath said to avoid oranges as well just in case.  I got this news about one month into taking tamox. and after gorging on grapefruits.

No side effects for me.  Some hot flashes in the beginning, but now it's been 11 months and no problem.  I do agree with Bugs, I find losing weight harder.   That belly fat is more stubborn.
