    Even though I had my lumpectomy 1 year ago, I guess it's time to ask this question and probably sound like an idiot.... 

    Was diagnosed with triple neg IDC 1.2 cm nodule 5cms below nipple - Stage 1, Grade 3.  Had a large lumpectomy, no nodes, no vascular.  Needed a reexcision two weeks later for 2 dirty margins.  Surgeon got them and they were clean and biopsy showed Grade 3 DCIS in dirty margins that were removed.  Does everyone with IDC, should their margins not be clear, have DCIS? 

    Just wondering all this time later, but sure would like to know.

    Hi Linda, Some people only have IDC, some only DCIS and some a combo of both. Dirty margins can be either IDC or DCIS, just depends which part of the cancer they missed when they tried to take it out. You are all clear now, so congrats.
