But somebody PLEASE post details of how it went, who was there, what the new place was like. I REALLY am bummed about missing it. I will DEF be there in June!

Hi Ladies,
I was just lurking and saw this thread. Would I be able to join in your group. I live in Arbutus area and would love to meet some new friends. I am actually a stage 4 gal and have really be sort of down in the dumps now and then and hoping to find some way to cheer me up. It seems like some of my friends sort of ditched me when I told them I had BC.
I am doing good treatment wise -just taking Tamoxifen and Zometa monthly. Haven't had to do chemo or rads yet. And hopefully not soon either.........
Kathy
-
Kathy, absolutely! Come on out and join us! Would love to meet you!
I'll PM you my cell phone number...I'm hoping to arrive there around 6pm-ish.

Good afternoon fabulous ladies! We had a wonderful time at Geckos last night and I want to send out a big thank you to Nick and his staff for the great food and for making us feel welcome! I also want to say thank you and send hugs out to Ray, Alaina and Jaimie for making last night one of the most interesting GNO's so far. You all rock!
Okay, for those that could not join us last night, we know that you were with us in spirit. As usual the conversation flowed effortlessly and with great humor! It was nice to catch up with everyone and talk about what has happened in our lives since the last time we came together. This truly is a sisterhood that we are all a part of.
It was great to hear about Jaimie's trip to NOLA and her recent surgeries and how wonderful she is doing. We spent quite a few minutes talking about her new nipples, which Jaimie (never the shy one) offered to show us. I am having a second revision in August and will get my nipples then so I was really interested to see what they could like.
We decided that we would do a show and tell - our version of Girls Gone Wild. Clearly, since we have had our mastectomies, none of us is shy about whipping up our shirts to show anyone who asks - and even those who perhaps don't really ask. We wear our scars with some humor and without embarrassment.
After we paid our checks we continued to talk - loudly I think -about being Girls Gone Wild - a conversation that caught the attention of 2 young college men at the next table. Clearly they were amused by us. We went to the ladies room which was occupied (and very small I might add) and we briefly entertained the idea of going into the men's room - I say briefly, because OMG - I don't know what men do in there, but we could not be in there. We waited until the ladies room was open, and we all piled in there -
In a flash, Jaimie's shirt was up, boobs were out and I gotta say, they looked great. Her surgeon did a great job. Her nipples looked so natural and her scars are doing to fade so nicely. Aside from being impressed by her new nipples, we were really interested in her compression garment. Seriously, if you are going to need compression garments, check out "Designs by Veronique" - it looked sexy, comfortable and I wish I had had them when I had my DIEP!
It was not long before we were all whipping up our shirts and showing our scars and our boobs! If someone had walked in on us (not that there was a bit of room in there) they would have been in the middle of a funny conversation. Girls Gone Wild at Geckos!
It was without a doubt, the most fun and the most interesting of our Girls Nite Out events. One I will not soon forget - it is right up there with our first one, when Alaina whipped out her prosthetic and we passed it around the table. What a fabulous group of women who are so willing to share and support each other.
So, we have decided that our next Girls Nite Out will be on SATURDAY, JUNE 5TH at 11:00am at Geckos. We are hoping that for those that work and/or who cannot get into the city during the week that you will be able to join us. FYI, Saturdays at Geckos is also Margarita day! They make great margaritas!
I will send out another invitation both on this board as we get closer and will post the event information on our Facebook page today and send out an invite from there as we get closer. Please feel free to pass it along, invite others etc. The more the merrier!
Now, my thought is, that if you are coming, if you could drop me an email or rsvp on the Facebook page, I can give Geckos a count for us and if our numbers are big enough, I will ask him if he would be open to closing the restaurant for the few hours that we would be there.
Our next GNO - Margaritas, Mojitos and Mayhem!
Thanks again for last night - clearly we were girls gone wild!
-

Hi Kathy - we are

I'm so happy to hear you're not a stuffy group of women. I spoke at a women's group several weeks ago regarding BC. One of the women in the group complained later that it was inappropriate for me to share photos of one of my breasts. (Bad recon in the radiated breast.)
I can't wait to share them with you. You're my kind of ladies!!!!!!!
-
I can't believe I missed "Girls Gone Wild" at Geckos...Glad you all had fun and shared sooooo much! I'll be there next time. My exchange is in July.
Christy
-
I am so looking forward to June- and BooBee, welcome!
We are most definately not stuffy - I have never met a more caring, sharing, funny and fabulous group of women! You will fit right in with us.
I am actually thinking about doing something next Saturday - like lunch - just cuz I have so much fun with this group - if anyone is up for it, let me know.....
