Yesterday morning we just had some pretty heavy downpours but nothing like you had NM. My dh is headed to Mississippi where they had some flooding. He checked and the roads are all clear. He heard from several trucker friends who were headed west on I-40 through TN that they were stopped because of flooding, one driver couldn't get his load delivered because the location was still flooded.

We ended up with just the one quick thunderstorm last night. It's a beautiful sunny day today although rather chilly. We're at 54 degrees but headed for a high of 72. I need the heater on in the car in the morning and the air in the afternoon! Typical Michigan Spring.

We have had a dry, warm week here. Yesterday evening I put on a sweater to sit outside though. Dh asked if I was kidding until I showed him my goosebumps. We are supposed to get a bit of rain Sunday or Monday.
Suz, they did it. The Jakes are back home, but can you believe Jake H's attitude? What a sad way to carry on, if he only knew what the future held.

Windy, breezy, gusty, blowing--the weather guesser said them all this morning and it certainly is whipping the tree branches around! 49 degrees this morning, hoping it gets a bit warmer for this afternoon's reception. Oh well.

I had 59 this morning when I got up, expecting temps to go near 80, also ozone action alert day.

What is an ozone action alert day?
We have AQI (Air quality Index) alerts that tell us when elderly, children and those with pulmonary issues, should stay indoors. At time we are all told to stay inside.

Basically the same thing, anyone with pulmonary issues, elderly and children should stay indoors during the orange flag days. When it is a red flag day they don't recommend anyone being outside exercising until the sun goes down and the temps cool down. They say that the ozone (pollutants) are high because of the high temps and limited air movement. they also want us to not mow grass and limit the use of our cars to reduce the ozone (pollutants) released. My lawn service is mowing my grass today. But he can get it done in about 45 minutes compared to about 2 hours (1 hour a day for 2 days) for me to try and do it, it is worth paying him to mow. He has a double blade stand-up professional mower.
The weather guessers are saying that today will be the hottest over the next week, we have a cool front coming in tomorrow and through the weekend with more seasonable temps expected (lows in the upper 40's and highs in the 70's)

It is Florida hot again. Up to 90 today with no rain in sight. We are enjoying sitting outdoors in the early morning and late afternoon. We need to pressure was lots of stuff.

46 degrees and raining. Been raining all day. Had to turn the furnace back on to keep from freezing out. Yucky.

My back covered patio was in the low 80s this afternoon. My DS was on the phone from Japan, and said the day was rainy, and I looked around, not a puff of a cloud in the bright blue sky. A gorgeous day!

Haven't been on in a couple of days, very busy turning in my last paper for this school year, had a conference on Friday and yesterday took Grandson #1 out for his 4th birthday (it was in april) and then my SIL and I went to an art event in our little town. Several artists opened their homes or studios for a fundraiser for playground equipment for our township hall. I was in awe of the talent in our little community. It was very cold though, we dodged rain drops and temps in the low 40s. BRRRR - I want warmth, please send some from California, NC and Florida!! Some artists had wine so that helped keep us a little warm
It's currently 46 degrees at noon here!Meece, I am glad the Jakes made a good exchange, it was Scary for Sig's Jake and I can't believe Jake H's attitude either. There's a Deadliest Catch marathon on beginning now and I even love the reruns so will probably watch that as I get ready for the kids to come over.

Sheila, we have ozone action days too - but usually only a couple a year and they occur in the summer.

They usually start reporting the ozone days in May through October, when it is the hottest months. Yesterday we had a cold front come in, a lot of wind but no rain. Today I got up with temps in the 40's this afternoon the temps are in the low 70's, don't have to worry about ozone today.

Today started out very cold. Then this afternoon a storm blew in and droped 2/10 of an inch in a matter of minutes. Thunder and lightning, too. We don't get many electrical storms, and I love them, as long as I can be at home during them.

37 degrees this morning. Snow was predicted as a possibilty last night, and will be again tonight. Will someone PLEASE call up Mother Nature and remind the senile ole biddy that it's springtime in Maine??????????????/

I wish there was a way I could send some of our heat up your way, Meece, NH and Suzette. There is no forecast for any rain. When it gets this hot, our water evaporates so quickly. I send to each of your warm breezes without the humidity.

I haven't had to turn my heater back on on, I just unplugged it last week! but tonight is another cool night. This morning we had upper 40's and I think the same for tonight. I almost needed to put my sweater on today here at the office.

It means that too many of us were complaining about the colder winters and heavier snow storms and colder summers not being logically due to global warming. "They" needed to keep the global warming business going so they changed the name to "global climate change." Just a financial thing. I think the ice caps are still melting, but the tropical zones are going to freeze up. I'm betting the sea level stays about the same!

Well, global warming/climate change/whatever the heck they're trying to pin it on AIN'T HAPPENING HERE! It's frickin' cold (excuse the language - well actually I tamed it down). I agree NM, it is a pain in the (picture). We're at our high for the day of 43 and wind chills in the 30s all day. We've had frost or freeze warnings almost every night since late last week. I'd love to say "not that I'm complaining" but I am complaining bitterly. I WANT WARMTH!!! Boo Hoo Hoo. I had to get my light winter coat back out and start my car in the morning to warm it up so I can see out the windows. Thank goodness MSU didn't turn off the heat on May 1st like they usually do or I'd be working from the warmth of home.
Sorry to be so witchy today but this cold is getting to me. I need heat, I need sun, I need to work in my garden this year (since I couldn't last year cause I was too sick).
Oh my, sorry for unloading ladies. That was bad!

NM - do you know of the nurse researcher/author/theorist, Patricia Benner? I was at a lecture she gave in Lansing this afternoon on the future of nursing education/educators. Very interesting.
We might get up to 55 degrees tomorrow - yippee skippee. (OMG, I really need an attitude adjustment - I think some white vino will help).
