Yep, I get ya on the 10/15 minute rule experience. Last night I PROMISED myself I would do 15 minutes, and I ended up with 30. I'm going to push for the 30 from the beginning tonight, but I bet I won't get too much more beyond it. Oh, how I wish I did not work full-time and could focus more on a few things in my life....
Then when I hear myself say that, I think I should feel grateful for NED status, ability to work, and the other things that make my life so full. Of course, it is especially helpful for me to think like that because I got more added to my job description today--because I am so skilled, competent, professional, whatever--without any pay raise in sight. The underlying message is you'd better be thankful for your job in this economy. I also wonder if the other underlying message is your options are limited as a result of your health, and we know it. Perhaps I am getting more cynicism blended in with my hopeful side....
By the way, Kari, I'm glad for you that the work pressures have subsided a little. And kmmd, you are checking in a bit more; is that because you are not so pressed by work? I hope so! To all others, glad to hear from you; take good care and move, move, move!

Thank you my beautiful friends!!! Today I walked 2.4 miles with DH and worked out at the Gym! (My side lymphedema is acting up, and I wonder if doing weight trainging would help?) So it's an experiment! It helped once before!!!
Soon to the garden!

Went for a run today, and now I am having some Achilles pain... My dh says my shoes are all worn out, so I need to get a new pair...
Have a great weekend, ladies! For once, I'm not working on Saturday!! The weather is beautiful!

Happy Birthday, Spring! Sounds like you are enjoying life as you mark another year!
Managed a 30min workout last night and 55 minutes this am. I'll shoot for 60 minutes tomorrow morning.
Be good and kind to yourselves....
-
Hey everyone! I don't know if you saw on a couple of other threads, but I was dx AGAIN with BC. This time it's IDC and DCIS (multifocal). I have to get my lymphnodes checked and do a petscan. It's in the same area where I had BC. Hard to believe this can happen 8 months after a bmx with clear margins!
-
Kitty, I am sorry that you received this news and have to face another BC diagnosis. I will stay hopeful that your scans will show no progression and that your follow up care will help you to be well. Please remember that we are here to listen and support you, do whatever we can to help!
-
Oh, Kittycat, I am so sorry. It's hard to believe, isn't it?! Your situation sounds a lot like Meg's (Ivorymom), who is also BRCA1+ and had similarly shocking news at her one year checkup. It just makes me so mad, I want to cry. It's not fair. When are they going to find some real answers to this?????? {{{(Hugs}}}, and just know that we're here for you! Deanna
-
Kitty - ditto with everyone else. We are here for you.
Can't believe I have had Fri/sat off and both days were beautiful.
Hugs to all and extra for Kitty and Ivorymom. Prayers with you.
-
Kittycat,
I am SO sorry to hear your news!
Praying for you, and Ivorymom, too. This disease really sucks BIG TIME!!!
HUGS
Harley
-
Kittycat, so sorry to hear that. Just seems so unfair after bmx for DCIS and so soon. I know we don't expect fair, but, it still ticks me off Hugs to you and we're all here for you.
Hugs to Ivorymom too, if you ever lurk through we still send them your way.
Spent last of Fri night and most of yesterday in the ED with a friend. Got home and my tamoxifen back and joints and neuropathy feet and fatigure were screaming. Took a nap and got up and did a little pilates (10 min rule on that) and a gentle yoga routine. Aaahhh, just what the doctor ordered. Felt human again and DH and I had a short but sweet night together. Back to the hospital today, but not before I get some treadmill and weight lifting time in..
Hope you all make it a good one
-
Well we got back last night from San Diego. We saw my son play his last college baseball game. It was very emotional. It is hard to believe that all those years of watching him play are now done. We are looking forward to his graduation (in December) and watching him grow as a young man.
My exchange surgery is in a week. YUK! I am planning on taking a couple of weeks off and hope that is enough. Taking time off at the end of the school year is not good timing.
kittycat I am sorry you had more surgery. Who is you doctor? Maybe you can PM me and we can talk.
Well lots of stuff to do today. I am always so tired after these trips. Hopefully I can get a walk in today. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
-
Springie, hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday yesterday! I was thinking of you. We took a gorgeous drive (back roads) to wine country (2 hour drive) and as we drove through Calistoga, I thought of you, cause you were getting a massage/pedi right? Was it heaven?? I hope so, you deserve it!! I'm also a Taurus sister!!
kittycat, I'm so so sorry for your recent dx, stay strong and stay motivated in fighting this friggin beast. We are here for you and are united in the fight!! big hugs-keep us posted.
kmmd, that yoga story but one huge smile on face!! so cute.
Val, so good to see you pop in!!
Brenda, your 10/15 minute rule has turned into something big!! good for you!
Joy and Harley, glad you both had some free weekend/time and some sun. I tell you this weather is kooky here. It has been sooooooooo windy lately, but thank heaven the sun has been out for 2 days now! yeehaaaaa! And a week projected with no rain and 70s/80s, I think I may faint...haha
I really have to clean house now...boohoo
love to you all - stay strong - keep moving - keep smiling, I don't care if you have to force it or fake it, keep smiling, we are all in this fight together!
-
kittycat, what can I say ((((hugs)))) it's just not fair, but then again, nothing about this stupid disease is fair.
Well, our snow is gone again, yup had snow again this week which was not good as most of the trees have budded out already. Nice and sunny today so think I will go clean out some flower beds.
Big hello to all and hope you all had a great weekend.
-
Managed a 35 minute workout this morning. Wishing stability, healing, hugs, laughter and rejuvenation for all!
-
Walked around Duke Gardens with DH today, HOT here, but it was lovely! I've had a great Birthday weekend, thanks for all the lovely wishes dear friends!
Kitty, well CRAP!!! NO friggin' fair. Let us know what's going on. Thinking of you. <<<<<<HUGS>>>>>> to kitty...
-
We did the Susan G Komen walk in Vegas yesterday. That was awesome! I got new athletic shoes because my old ones were starting to hurt my feet. I walked around in them all day on Friday to break them in and did fine!
I go into the BS and rad onco tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts! This is scary!!!
-
kitty, thinking of you and sending many positive vibes (PVs)!! Great that your new shoes did OK and WAY TO GO!!
Springie, I love Duke - so gorgeous! AND so happy you had a wonderful birthday weekend!
I'm very very sore today - did some cleaning, scrubbing and then tried to do a Dancing with the Stars workout, man I'm no candidate for that show! haha
The crazy winds here have finally calmed down to breezy, but it is sunny! Yesterday after cleaning I had to go shopping so I went to Pluto's (salad place) and loaded up and wanted to sit outside in the sun, but my gosh that wind, it was gusting and knocked over the dressing container, my napkin went flying, my hair was whipping around, it was quite funny, but it was so packed inside and I just wanted fresh air! crazy I tell ya
-
Kari, how nice to be able to say my hair was whipping around isn't it? I found myself telling DH to roll the windows up the other day because it would mess up my hair. Last summer gale force winds wouldn't have messed up that little tiny bit I had on my head
-
kmmd - I can soooo relate, I'm back to putting my hair up and bringing a hair tie for the convertible now!! I just smile, although I ended up chewing repeatedly on this one darn piece of hair that would not cooperate! But kept smiling cause it felt good to have hair!!
-
40 minute workout this evening, in spite of feeling s-o-o-o-o tired! Off to relax for a while.
-
Crystal clear day here today... supposed to hit 95 this afternoon, but walking was still manageable just now, and I was pleased to see I'd logged 12,776 steps on my pedometer, although I'm sitting here dripping sweat (toxins!) now. But that was my first day walking since Thursday, so I missed more than half a week!
I'm with you Kari and kmmd on the attitude adjustment when it comes to hair. I've noticed that since chemo I rarely even check mine after I get ready in the morning. It's there, and that's enough. The days of striving for perfection with it or anything else seem to be pretty much a thing of the past!
Hope everyone's week is off to a good start, and I'm praying for you, Kittycat. Please keep us posted on anything you find out. We're all pulling for you! Deanna
-
kittycat,
You are in my prayers. Please do keep us posted.
I had a talk with my boss today and she said that she's hiring some more help. Still probably not enough, but hopefully I won't be worked to death. I almost quit, cause I was working more than I was relaxing.... I had only 1 day off during the week, and I just can't do that anymore. This past weekend was the FIRST weekend in a long time that I was actually off both Saturday AND Sunday.
I really am hoping that I'll be able to start exercising EVERY DAY again....
Hope everyone has a great week!!
Harley -
hey cuties! Deanna, can you believe that hot weather already?! AND you did SO many steps!! Always my hero.
Brenda, don't poop yourself out too much if you're too tired.
Harley, yay for the boss finally getting a clue!
I went to the chiropractor yesterday after work, boy my body got a complete overhaul, it was all out of whack, all that no sleeping/traveling took its toll. So today will get a walk in and some yoga, I'm off work in 10 minutes! YAY
-
Oh Deanna, looks like we won't be getting to Palm Springs, but will be in Fallbrook on June 4 & 5 and staying with DH's sister and family.
