Deanna we left at 7:30 in the morning and got home at 11:30, a LONG way.
I am on my way to walk. As my surgery for the exchange gets closer I start to get depressed. The emotions are so diverse. Happy one minute, crying the next. I know that walking will help me feel better, that and I got a 1000 piece puzzle to begin working on. I have found that it helps me to take my mind off all the c*** associated with this disease. It is amazing how mindless things helps our psyche (probably spelled wrong) and helps us to stay strong.
Off to walk, it is beautiful in Las Vegas today.

Glad to hear from you all. I did not workout at all last evening, not even the 15 minutes. Then--boo, hiss--I had some major sleep disruption as a result of the ongoing, at times increasing back/shoulder blade pain. Today I was able to walk about 25 minutes and will now do some gentle stretching. I am hopeful about sleeping better tonight and perhaps getting some help/answers from another MD appt tomorrow. Take care all....
-
Brenda, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow and praying for good news.
Diane, when is your exchange surgery? Sorry you're feeling down about it, but I think surgeries are always a bit scary. But I'm sure you're in the best of hands, and you will be so happy to have it behind you.
I walked 4.9 miles today. The funk I've been in seems to be lifting, but I still feel like I need some kind of major change in my life to give me a big shot of energy and enthusiam. I also did a modified juice fast today, hoping to get control of the few extra pounds that have been creeping up on me for no reason other than very low estrogen levels, and I feel better tonight for having taken that control. Deanna
-
Harley, I think I walk faster than I run too! Did you try calling and checking again on the financial aid? Maybe spur a little action or find someone a little more helpful? Hate to see this not work out for you when you want it so badly
Brenda, good luck today, hoping for good news for you
Worked 12 hrs Mon and 14 yesterday. Not even that 10 min got in. I don't like the way that feels. Feel sloggy (exhaustion probably not helping) and fat and yuck. Today have more control over my schedule. Have to figure out what I'm going to do because yowza my feet are KILLING me right now. Might be a pilates/yoga/weight lifting da.
-
Brenda,
Hope you get some answers from the dr. Sending GENTLE HUGS your way!
Deanna,
Glad that you are maintaining your 5 mile walks. Sorry you are in a funk lately. I have also been feeling kinda depressed lately, and I think a career change would really help pull me out of this rut I'm in.
kmmd,
WOW! How do you work 12 hours and 14 hour days?? I am working 9 1/2 to 10 hour days, and it is killing me!! You are a better woman than me.... I admire you!! You are my hero!!
No, I haven't called the financial aid counseler yet. I am not sure if she can help me. I guess I thought I could deal with this minimum wage/dead end job, IF I knew I was doing something to get me out of there, like going back to school. I was excited about it at first, but maybe it's not meant to be.
It's a nasty, coldish, cloudy, gray day here in usually SUNNY NC. Maybe that is why I'm feeling down today....

Only walked 1 1/2 miles today, my daughter needed to be picked up. I am feeling much better, not so much doom and gloom. Luckily I realize what is happening and just keep breathing and getting through it.
American Idol result show tonight!

Glad you're feeling better, Diane. I only walked 2.6 miles today so that I could have a nice long lunch with a dear friend.
I'm rooting for Crystal! She is head & shoulders above the rest of the pack in talent (IMHO; hasn't had a disappointing performance yet); and I love the fact that she's a young, single Mom, chasing her dream.
Harley, I firmly believe where there's a will, there's a way! Is there any chance you could get a job at a college anywhere in your area? Those usually come with free education benefits. Deanna

Deanna
That is a very good idea. I'll check on it. When I talked to the counselor, I mentioned that I was looking for a job, and she told me about another opening, but nothing at the school... I'll check on it again anyway.

Work is so crazy today I did not walk the 2 miles. I think it is the first time I missed in many many weeks! I did do 90 min Yoga, and man, I was sweating there for a bit! so hopefully, my body won't revolt for missing the 2 miles.
I hate it when work gets like this. UGH.
-
Springtime, there is no way I could do 90 min of yoga!!! You rock girl!!!

Does anyone have a Wii Fit? My hubby bought me one for Christmas and we've only used it a few times. I was thinking of getting some programs, but wondered what ones people liked the most.
-
I had the same thought, Spring -- 90 minutes of yoga -- WoW!
Just posted this article on Natural Girls, but I thought I'd share it here as well. It's certainly motivation for me to continue with the preventive measures (especially exercise) I know can make an impact on recurrence risk:
Kittycat, ainm is our WiiFi expert. I'm sure she'll be along soon to answer your question, but it sounds like a lot of fun and has certainly helped her to put up some extremely impressive numbers re. consistency and weight loss. Deanna
Forgot to add: 2.5 miles today for me
-
I walked 2 miles today. One of my neighbors called and asked if I wanted to walk. I had just gotten home from work, so that worked for me.
Hope you are all doing well.
Harley

Hi Kittycat,
I use my Wii Fit daily, I started out with the basic Wii Fit and last Christmas I got Wii Fit Plus. I do about 60 mins on it every day. It has been a great asset to me and has helped me lose almost 70lbs since last August. If there is anything specific you want to know please do ask or you can PM me.
Busy week - weather still really good - still haven't discovered how to get my photos from my phone to my laptop!!!! Didn't realise I was so technically challenged!!!
Hope everyone is doing well.
-
90 min yoga, OK like 15 min is warm up and 15 min the relaxing at the end. But the 60 minutes in the middle is some workin' out! Great class.
Today I walked 2 miles over lunch even though work was crazy! Yay!!
I want to Wii bowl and Wii golf again. We just have not done much since we've gotten home from vacation. !!!

Quickie; Tired, didn't work out yesterday, finally submitted to a steroid injection under my shoulderblade after 2 1/2 months of pain and no relief from the other interventions I tried. So far, some increase in pain, which may or may not be significant. Allegedly, if this approach is not successful, the MD will try to get an MRI approved. I am going to go stretch for 20-30 minutes now. It's good to hear from you all. Take care!

My husband and I went on a long walk tonight. We thought we'd take a "short cut" through these homes (plus we like to look at people's homes). Anyway, we ended up way off course. Then, he convinced me to climb over 2 wrought iron fences. LOL! Anyway, the walk was great! I'm trying to get into some kind of shape before I go into "surgical menopause" from my hysterectomy/oophorectomy next month! Yikes!!!
Ainm - thanks for the info on the Wii Fit. We have the Wii Fit Plus and a couple games. I haven't got on it lately because I gained a couple lbs (I don't want it to "measure" me)! LOL!
-
That steroid injection sounds painful, Brenda. Hope maybe by today it's kicked in and your pain is easing up.
Kittycat, that's funny about needing to climb fences on your short cut! I hope they weren't too high!
I got in 3.4 miles this morning -- actually closer to noon, and too hot already to do anymore. Now that it's warming up, I've got to make myself get out of the house much earlier.
Have a great weekend everyone! Deanna
-
I am choosing not to walk today-just can't get into it.
Brenda, I hope you get to feel better soon.
Off to see my son this weekend, I actually get to stay overnight, YEAH! I'll post again Sunday night or Monday.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

HI All,
Got out yesterday with the doggy for a long walk, today can't put all my weight on my right foot as my heel is painful. Enough already, I think we have all had enough. Shoulder pain, leg pain, back pain. etc. enough is enough!!!!!!!!!
Okay feel better now, just had to vent.
Well, the boys just left and they left in shorts. I think officially we are getting warmer. The sun is shining and promises to be a beautiful day. So I hope everyone has a great weekend and gets lots of sunshine!
Oh, by the way, MIL is doing great. Like I said, ignorance is bliss. Not sure if I mentioned it, but she is triple negative though.

Harley, I like my current work. You're my hero. I've been in a job I didn't like and saw as dead end. It is very very hard to continue to work in that situation and stay positive and always do your best. Please don't give up in your goal to go back to school and do something you love.
I'm with the 90 min of Yoga, OMG how do you do it?
Ainm: I'm so impressed. I'm happy because for the first time since starting Tamox I did a month without gaining weight. Hoping now that I seemed to have paused I can get the pendulum swinging in the other direction and start losing the weight. Maybe next year I can say the same things you are now?
Kittycat, climbing over fences is a new exercise routine we hadn't been discussing here. Guess we'll have to add it to the mix. I think I'd fall on my head if I tried it.
Last week was the worst week in months for exercising. Ugghh. Next week will be better!

Kmmd
Thanks... Worked from 8am til 4:30pm today... It was awful! I was on my feet ALL DAY! The other woman who came in to work the afternoon went over the schedule and added MORE HOURS for me! I really don't think I can do it.
My dh told me that when he finds a job, I can quit... but I am working myself ragged as it is now, so I may not make it til he finds a job.
I am upset because my sister in law is coming to town for a few days, and they wouldn't even let me have three lousy days off... so I won't get to see her very much, and she only comes to visit 2 or 3 times a year, during the summer, and then only for a long weekend.
Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!
Harley
-
Haryley, hugs, what a lousy day
-
kmmd,
Thanks! I'm working again tomorrow...
-
Hi all!
San Diego was great! My friend and I found where we should be camping for the 3-day and walked along the coast for 2 hours. I would so love to live there.
Harley I hope you get to see your sister in law some, family is a great support.
kkmd, keep up the good work.
got to go and pick up dd.

I walked today even though work was kooky. Go me.
Yesterday, I walked to the Gym and back, did all the weight machines, and then, Gardened for 2.5 hours. Today I am sore in placed I forgot I had!!! The walk actually loosened me up a bit, while it lasted.
-
Nada on Saturday, Sunday (except for walking every aisle of a huge street fair) or Monday for me, but I did walk 4.72 miles this a.m., and felt so much better for it! I think I'm going to start laying out running clothes the night before -- anything to get me out the door first thing, before I start making excuses!
-
Kittycat, Very interesting workout you described. I think I am too old to climb over fences. Wait, did I just say that? I am only 53!
Deanna, What do you do for exercise when it really heats up there? Do you still walk? Can I even imagine what that would be like?
Pk, Yep, pain, pain, and more pain. YOW! We need a break! I hope you are better and that you have found an invigorating, but "safe" way to get back on track with working out. By the way, I hope you got good news with your labs.
kmmd, I hope you are able to manage more workouts this week! I am still amazed by your report last week of 12 and 14 hours days. Every once in a while, I will have those, but it truly is rare, thankfully. I just could not do it. You must really like your job!
Harley, I hate to hear about your supervisor being so demanding about your schedule. I hope you were able to squeeze in some time with your sister in law. I agree with kmmd, try not to give up on your dream of going back to school. Are you willing to borrow money to do it--just curious.
Diane--Sounds like a great walk along the coast! I envy the walk but not the camping; I never was and likely never will be a camper. But, I do enjoy nature, and I love renting a cabin in the mountains or other beautiful areas. I used to hike until my knees screamed, "STOP, you crazy woman, or we will keep you from even walking!"
Spring, I can relate to being sore in places you forgot. This past Sunday I worked in my yard for almost 3 hours and used loppers to trim some large shrubs. The muscles on the left side of my chest, where I had the mx, were so sore.
In spite of ongoing pain--no improvement since the injection (actually a brief increase in pain-ugh)--I am still managing to work out most days. I did mopping (that counts, right?) + housework + stretching on Sat, yardwork + stretching on Sun, 35-40 minutes of classical stretch yesterday and today. I am using ice a lot. Interesting that the workouts don't make me hurt more; the pain just remains a steady, dull, deep ache. I am supposed to stay hopeful for 7-10 days after the injection that I will improve, so I am focusing on doing all that I can.
To all the others, I miss hearing from you! Kari? Joy? I am lousy with names post-chemo, so please don't feel offended if I have forgotten you in this moment. I hope you all are moving!
-
Brenda, trust me I will not be camping. We have found a wonderful hotel near the campsite so we can come back after 20 miles and relax in the hot tob. I sooo do not camp. diane
-
Perfect day here for walking (moderate temps, breezy), and I just did 5.7 miles. I actually thought about trying for 10, but didn't.
Brenda, last summer I walked as early as I could (6:30-ish), before the heat got really bad, and I was in the pool a lot. But each summer the heat gets harder and harder to tolerate, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do this year, except I do daydream a lot about running away to one of the mountainy places we've lived in and love...
I'm missing Kari here. I noticed she posted beautiful wedding photos on Facebook. Hope she's just been too busy to catch up and hasn't forgotten us! Deanna
