What a great day, soooo warm.  Went garage sailing, bike ride, and get this:  threw away my coumadin.  Yep, got brave.  So we'll see what happens I guess.  I'm hoping to feel a bit better after a week or so.

Well, we are supposed to have a warm one here today too. Just back from a 6 mile walk, hoping to get some gardening done today. Enjoy your weekend!

So Webbie and Michele came to see me :)  Thank you ladies!  They are just as nice in person as they are on-line and I just wish that I wasn't still sitting in St. Charles.  I was really hoping to be able to go out and about.  Soon :)

Hey gang-- 3 DAYS TIL VEGAS!!! I wish I could pack all of you in my suitcase!!  Then we'd really paint the town and paint it pink.  Any of you live near me, let's get together some time.

Cheryl--It's OK, we'd never judge you.  Years ago when I was in my early 20's , I had a crush on a local DJ, so much so that I thought we'd actually be a couple.

May 22, 2009 was my last chemo, and Aug 4 last radiation.  Thank God we're all alive ladies--isn't life great now????  I owe him my life in more ways than one--he saved me twice!!!

How long after radiation do you have to wait for recon?  I want to do this at some point--having time on my card would help--LOL

Well ladies gonna sign off for now--just thought I'd check in and say hi.

I am with Rosa while she is having her third out of six chemo infusion. She says hello. These are her current words of wisdom for us: "Life is like a can of ravioli, you've got to open up the can to taste it." Smile

I haven't heard about my uterine biopsy yet. My onc said the thickening could be from tamoxifen. But, I was only on tamoxifen for 5 months. I asked a co-worker who is a PharmD and he said it is very unlikely the thickening is from that med since I took it for such a short time.Frown

The councelor I see is going to talk to both Mike and I this Friday. She will help us work through this rough spot we are having in our marriage. Mike and I have been getting along these days; but, I think that is because we are not talking about cancer or the doc/wife situation. I'll let you know how the session works out.

BTW, Michele, Jaimie and Webbie, you look great! I wish I were there!

    Bethie:  Have fun in Vegas!

Cheryl:  Hugs to Rosa, love her ravioli wisdom...is she hungry? lol.  Have you had more spotting?  Could your period be coming back (or did you have an ooph?)  I spotted for a few days, and today it is definitely my period....why oh why did I think I wanted this back???  I hope everything turns out ok with you and Mike...I'm sorry you're going through a rough patch : (

Been working outside in the sunshine today, been feeling really good (is it the steroids or the sunshine or going off coumadin???) the last couple of days, except for some killer cramps.  Just finished cutting more tiles, priming, working on mosaics.  THis warm weather really makes me happier.

Cheryl--- Hope you're hanging in OK, sweetie!!!!! What's the word on uterine biopsy??? I hope it's not the big C there too!!!  I'm nervous for ya, keep us posted

Judy-- I will-can't wait!!!!! I'll post some pics on Facebook.

Not sure If I ever met Rosa on here, but love that ravioli wisdom 8-)

well, I need some zzzz, was sick with a stomach bug over weekend, and now coughing--gotta feel better for Donny & Marie!!!

Bethie~ Get better so you can have some fun in Vegas!!

Michele & Webbie~ I love you ladies...I just wish that I was not in St. Charles so we could have done more.  Both of you children are absolutely adorable and so well behaved.

As for me I will be leaving NOLA tomorrow and on my way home.  I had my post-op today and lost 3 of 4 drains.  I wouldn't let Dr. S pull the 4th drain because it was putting out 42 CC's so I do not want a seroma.  I am doing okay girls look even better (they feel great......lol...).  My belly is flat and my butt seems much smaller overall I am thrilled.  I am ready to see my babies tomorrow.

Judy - period? Ugg.  You must have castiron ovaries. LOL!

Cheryl - hope the counselling works out well. Hang in there, I know things will get better.

Well, not much happening with me. Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks Kerry :). I am sitting at the airport waiting to board our plane that is not here yet....gggrrrr... My patience level is gone and I need a nap.

We got up this morning and went to the cemetary (they are above ground) because my sister wanted to see it. I was toast by the time we got there but I did it. I just appreciate that she came with me and has been helping me...okay so she laughs at me a lot but that is okay. I am walking around looking like I am in the old style bras that make the nipple area look like a cone thanks to my nipple guards. I can not remember how long I am supposed to wear the guards but I plan on keeping them on for sometime. I do not want to squish the new nips.

Kerry- we love uneventful days :)

Kerry~ So tell me about your ooph.  You had it as a laproscopic procedure, right?  Did you leave your uterus alone?  Tell me about your recovery... How long do you think I'll be off work?  And, exercise? How long will I have to stop exercising?

    Hi everyone!

Jaimie~ Hope your trip home is uneventful!

Michele:  are you having an ooph?  I never discussed it with my onc since I am TN, is it beneficial for us, too?  After the return of my period, I'm remembering all to well how much I hated it, lol, and if an ooph is helpful for us, I'll consider it.

So, had a bad night last night....you know I stopped taking coumadin 5 days ago.  Yesterday while cooking, I noticed a strange sensation in my left leg, over the course of the evening it traveled up to my thigh.  Not pain really, wasn't sure what to think.  My asthma was really bad, getting worse, so of course I'm thinking clot.  So off to the ER we went.

They did a CT scan/xray of lungs, and that looked good.  I do have something called a eccentric thrombus in my thigh...I guess it is a clot?  They had me so drugged up, I don't really know.  So for now I am back on blood thinners, higher doses of steriods....I am exhausted.  Add the worst cramps ever to all of this....it sucks.

So I am waiting to hear my from hematologist.  Hopefully this is nothing, and I won't be a coumadin lifer.

Oh, shoot Judy, that really sucks. I am so sorry. Good news on clear scans, but I'm sorry about the clot and the asthma. You so deserve a break. Keep us updated as to how you are doing.

Michele - I had it done laproscopically - in through Belly Button, snip the Ovaries, and pulled them out the belly button. The surgery took a bit longer than my Mx (they found endometrosis, which slowed things down) but recovery was super fast. Very little pain. My biggest problem was finding clothes that were loose around the middle (incisions were at waist band level and I was bloated from the gas), other than that I was fine. I had it done on a Tuesday (day Surgery), Wednesday I stayed in bed cos my MIL was here, but she left on the Thursday, and I was a bit slow but OK. I could have gone to work after a couple of days if I was careful. I did get a bit of referred pain in my shoulders from the gas. I had no restrictions on exercise, once I felt OK she said I could  - it is not like a hysterectomy at all. I have zero regrets having it done. When is yours??

Jaimie - hope you are home or at least airborne!

Judy~ My ovaries are toast.  And, I'm terrified of ovarian cancer... So, since they aren't doing me any good (as per my gyn) and I'm willing to have another procedure... snip, snip.  Having them out won't make any difference with TN though.

Kerry~ Thanks for the info.  That's how they are doing mine.  I'm worried about the gas pain.  I'm having them out 5/31 (Mon).  I put in to have off entirely Mon & Tues and will have to take call Wed-Fri.  Do you think I could go in if I had to?  Could I drive?  My gyn told me I should take off all week but I can't.  I'm not telling her 'bout the on-call part.

    Jaimie~ You home yet?

Wednesday you might be a bit slow getting up and down. That was the only time I had pain, when I moved. Sitting I couldn't feel anything. So I think driving would be OK - how energetic do you have to be if you have to go in? If you go slowly, I think you would be OK. Make sure you have a loose dress or something to wear though - really, that was my biggest problem, as the scars are at waistband level.

It is still a general anesthetic, so make sure you are recovered from that before you go into work. The gas pain wasn't bad, it was just more than the tummy pain. I didn't even need morphine when they woke me up, it is quite unpainful. I got a little bit of bleeding too I think, so you will need a pad or two (and then you can throw the whole jolly lot out!)

I am home :)  My babies just kept kissing me and kissing me...it was wonderful.  Now I am exhausted but I have to do the school pick up and drop off for everyone still :(

Judy~ I hope you are feeling better soon.

Michele~ Didn't you paint after your last mastectomy ??  I think you could do it (note I still have my ovaries) but the gas pain was the worst part for me with my kidney's.  However the I think the jackass neph. filled me up like a balloon just for kicks.

I did paint after the 2nd mastectomy! LOL! (No nodes were taken so my arm was OK.)  However, I was pretty stoned on painkillers that day. Tongue out

STILL Michele even with no nodes it still is surgery Tongue out  You are a lot stronger than you think you are :)  BTW, I am so jealous that painkillers just make you stoned and not pukey....  I have not been able to take anything since the day after my surgery.... :(

So my hematologist seems to think I should stay off the coumadin...not sure why she disagrees that I had a clot in my leg....so I go off it again.  Nervous!  But kinda glad.  In one month, I get genetic testing done for clotting disorders.  If that's good, then no more coumadin unless I get another clot for sure.

Hello all. Recovering this morning from a 2 hour procedure to biopsy the rogue A-P Window lymph node yesterday. Hurting more from this surgery than I did from the BC surgery last year. Surgeon said I would due to the chest tube, intubation, deflation of my lung - all just to get to that node. Pictures showed it was RIGHT next to my arteries and lung. Unnerving.  Upshot of it all is that it didn't look good but he was able to get it as well as all the nodes around it. He said it looked like lymphoma was forming more than mets, but they're still testing it. IHe believes it may have come from the radiation. Man, if one thing doesn't get you, the other will!! He did insert a handy little medicine ball with tube into my chest that sends pain meds straight to the site. I will wear it for 5 days and remove the tubing myself when the ball is empty. It's called an On-Q.

I'm just glad its out and I'm on the road to recovery. Herceptin is now finished and life begins anew.

Hi Nancy!  I'm glad you got through your surgery ok, it sounds like it was a tough operation, and I am so sorry you are in so much pain.  I've seen those On-Q things, they look pretty handy, is it keeping the pain under control?  Please take it easy and get lots of rest.  Did they say how long before they will have any results for you?

Nancy~ I am sorry to hear that you had to have another surgery :(  The On-Q balls are wonderful even if carrying the ball is a pain.  I hope that they are just pissed off lymph nodes from radiation.
