Watching my hubby and I climb the fences was hilarious! If someone got it on tape, it would have for sure been on You Tube! LOL!!! My hubby helped me get on top of the fence, jumped over and then helped me down. I was screaming that I was going to fall (it was a wrought iron fence - not a lot to balance on)! LOL!!!
-
Kittycat, why were you climbing fences? i mus have missed something!!!
2 miles over lunch yesterday, I will get it in today too I hope! Nice weather here in the Carolinas!
-
Been too cold here for my blood to go out walking. So, back to the treadmill. Harley thought of you as I did some time on the elliptical torture device on Sunday. Power Yoga yesterday. Haven't made my mind up yet about what I'll do today
-
What's this about walking 60 miles, Diane?!?! I must have missed that story, too. Do fill us in, although I can't imagine doing even 8 miles in LV's spring/summer heat! You're amazing, and setting the bar awfully high for us walkers! (LOL!)
I did a wimpy 3 miles just now. The road I was going to take was closed for paving today (they're redoing our whole neighborhood), and it was already 85 degrees (sorry kmmd!) and not a bit of a breeze, so I doubled back rather than taking an alternate, longer route in the heat. It's supposed to hit 92 today, but drop back into the 70s (thank goodness!) the rest of the week. Deanna
-
Deanna, we could average out your temps and our temps and make us both a lot more comfortable.
Diane, I really don't think I could do that many miles. Kudos to you

Spring - Happy Birthday May Girl! I'm May 11th! How nice you get to have a nice treat at a spa! YAY for that! You go girl!!
Diane, you must be doing the 3 day cancer walk? That's too big for my britches - 60 miles?! Just do what you can and enjoy the event.
Did the eliptical (torture) machine last night and rode my bike to and from.
Deanna, 92 already! yikes...Its soooooo windy and raining all day here!! Mother Nature is having a tough time remembering its Spring outside!! haha
back to work...

Yes I am doing the 3 Day walk. I picked San Diego, because it is close and beautiful! My team name is the Las Vegas Street Walkers and it is only 2 of us so far. Our logo is going to be a showgirl with a big headdress and pink tennis shoes. I will be training in the gym over the summer. That and hikiing at our local mountain. I am really excited about it. I am choosing not to camp and have a great hotel near the event.
Off to diner and watch American Idol. diane
-
dianenv - Do you live in Las Vegas? For some reason, I thought you lived back east. Are you doing the walk in Las Vegas this weekend?
Springtime - Yeah my post was a week or so ago! I hadn't been on this thread for a little while. I've been too busy with tests and surgeries. Yuck!
-
Everything OK kittycat?
-
kittycat yes I live in Vegas. I am not doing the walk this weekend because I am going to see my son, in San Diego, play his last college baseball game
. That will be hard. We have been watching him play since he was 4 years old. I hope your surgeries have been good. I go for my exchange on the 10th.
Have to go. The wind is a howling something fierce today. I hope I can keep my car on the road.

I thought this was worth sharing with everyone. Not exercise motivation, but as important to our health, I believe:
Off to walk... Deanna
-
Deanna! I just printed that out and send copies of the pdf to my daughters and husband!
I hope to get my walk in later, Work is INSANE on Wednesdays! But I do have Yoga! No matter what!
-
Deanna, I printed that from the EWG website last year and keep it in my purse!! Its so helpful when shopping. I was so stressed out yesterday that I stopped at the library and checked out some exercise dvd's and did 50 minutes of yoga when I got home! It really helped my mood and I slept til 3am, THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!
-
Springtime - Awesome analogy. I like the way you think!!
-
Kari, why were you extra stressed out yesterday? Everything okay?
4.5 miles for me today, in an hour flat. One thing Dr. Hardy @ ULCA had suggested was that I try to walk faster (because I told her my walking no longer gets my heart rate up), so I'm working on that, as well as thinking about getting all those toxins out! Deanna
-
kmmd - I had 3 small lumps removed by my BS yesterday. They were in my right breast, near where I had cancer. Not sure if it's scar tissue or BC. My doctor wanted them out. Path report comes back tomorrow hopefully!
-
Oh Kitty, waiting is the hardest, let us know what you find out.
Kari, I am so glad you like the Yoga! Yes, it is a mind / body / spirit connection thing, and is considered a "serenity practice" not just exercise!
I got my 2 mile walk in. Went with hubby so it took longer than usual, about 32-33 min with hubby (30 minutes without!) I don't say anything!!! I am glad for the company...
Interesting Deanna, I have noticed I used to think OH NO about a walk, because it was a big deal, now I just zoom through it. Any time. I bet I need to go longer now, to make it more challenging. Good to think about.
-
kittycat, I'll be thinking of you, keep us posted
-
ugghh, you guys, did a little treadmill earlier but couldn't fit in a whole work out. Now really need to get motivated and go do a little more pilates or yoga or something. Really rather curl up in a ball and go to sleep early. Someone holler at me to get off my rear and do something, please!
-
kittycat, I, too, will be thinking about you -- praying that those 3 small lumps are totally B9. Deanna
-
Kittycat, I also am in the camp of those who are holding hope for your biopsy results.
To all, I did isometrics and stretching last night for 30 minutes, and I am about to do that now. I am so tired I just want to veg but I will not allow that this evening! kmmd, I also want to go to sleep RIGHT NOW but I am going to move, stretch, etc. Come on, you can do it!
-
I realized tonight that I need to walk in my new athletic shoes before I do the Susan G Komen walk on Saturday! Yikes!!! Surgery got in the way! I got new pink ribbon socks, though!
Thanks for the good thoughts and positive vibes! I need it!!!!
-
Gale force winds here last night and this morning. I managed to jog/walk 3.4 miles in about 50 mins., fighting a strong head wind part of the way, but am now getting one of those headaches you get with pressure changes. It's supposed to start hitting the 100s here next week, and I would gladly send some of it to you if I could, kmmd! Deanna
-
ok, first off - kmmd GET OFF YOUR REAR! LOL (you made me do it)
Deanna, oh dear, the stress lately at work has been at the top! An agent here (commercial real estate) resigned via email last Thursday and the SH*T has been hitting the fan. Lots of DRAMA, etc. (the agents involved are women, one very powerful and in the business 28 years and the other a gossipy 25 year old in the business for 3 years now under the senior agent). The company attorney is involved because the younger one was sleeping with the enemy and may have crossed the line ethically. I'm smack in the middle of all this crap, cause I'm a staff person and go to for our office. Yesterday I was even more stressed out, but my DD had invited me over for din din and to see the pups (that was heaven), but left after an 1 hr 30 min so I could have time to try another dvd I had checked out - 20 min Pilates / 20 min Yoga...It helped me relax, but I didn't sleep well, I was actually hungry all night! we didn't eat enough apparently! I did 1 mile on the treadmill this a.m. as I was really cold this a.m. You got those bad winds that blew through our area the past couple of days. My SIL is headed to Palm Springs this weekend!! I want to go too!!!!
-
Gosh, Kari, that situation sounds UGLY! And to be caught in the middle of it. You certainly don't need that! What a disappointment, especially after getting the Employee of the Year award. You sounded so happy to be working there back then. How fast things can change! I sure hope things simmer down. You're wise to look for extra ways to de-stress. How about a massage? Sounds like you could use one! D.
-
kmmd - get up and moving!!!
kari - hope things are settling down at the office.I hate office politics.
Season is getting back in the swing here at the Inn. Busy on weekends. Warming up but still cool in the evenings. Suppose to be in the upper 80's this weekend and I have Fri/Sat off. Still a cool breeze coming off of the water. Crystal, who works with me, sister was in a bad car wreck last weeked. Thrown from the vehicle and she hit a tree. They put in steel plates for an eye socket. Please pray for her. We are all switching shifts to help Crystal so she can spend time with her sister. It is a six hour drive from here.
Spring - sent in my application in for the retreat in August.
Shout outs to everyone else. Still have stitches in my leg but they come out on Monday. Then I will get back to exercising like I should. Have no appetite right now and lost 5 lbs. this week. I am trying to walk the Dd and she has been so good. Took her to the pond this afternoon and let her play and swim. She wore herself out. Hugs
-
Joy, filled mine out and still have to mail!!! It will be great. You will LOVE it!! No exercise and lost 5 pounds?? Wow.
-
OK, got up and moving, thanks, I did really need that, and did feel better for it.
Kari, geez, sounds like a real mess, like set up for a movie kind of mess
sobx, so sorry to hear about Crystal's sister, hope she's doing a little better and Crystal is hanging in there
Haha, you know me and my 10 min rule? Found the perfect DVD for me. Pilates and yoga routines 10 min each! You mix and match them. It is perfect, the other day started to do 10 min, and kept adding one more on before I knew it I'd been going at it for 50. Something about punching in a few 10 min routines rather then 30 min on that clock just does it for me.
-
Deanna, a massage sounds like heaven, but trying to pay off some bills (all that traveling you know! lol). All the drama got me down, couldn't sleep last night. Finally though my boss and supervisor are listening - NOT putting me in the middle any longer!! Its quieting down today, thankfully.
Joy, so sorry to hear about Crystal's sister, will send prayers. Hope you are healing well and get your appetite back and can exercise soon! Your pooch sounds like a doll.
kmmd - you make me smile
-
I heard the cutest story at work today. One of my friends at work said her 2 yo niece tries to do yoga with her mother when she does it. Said, not only is she cute trying the poses, but when she's done, puts her hands together, nods her head down and instead of "namaste" she says "mama says." Obviously thats what namaste sounds like to her. Just cracked me up. Of course, I had to wonder if maybe she heard "because mama says" before.
