Baby it's cold outside

We had a sort of surprise storm blow in yesterday morning. The wind was really bad. Here at hom we got .16" of rain, but I don't know how accurate that would be since the rain came down for over an hour and sideways at that.
Looks like we should have showers today and through tomorrow.
-
Wow, If I remember correctly Meece, you don't get much rain so that's a good thing - right? Hope it's at least warm in California.
We're supposed to have sun and be in the mid 60s today. This weather deal is driving me crazy - beautiful during my work week and crappy on the weekends. It's supposed to be in the mid 50s with rain during the Susan Komen walk in Sunday.
Hope the forcast changes!
My 3 month Onc check up is today, I'm sure she'll find nothing since my mammo, breast biopsy and colon are all taken care of and clear and I'm actually not having issues with the Femara - YET (praise God)! Yippee.
-
Yes, we have a 6.5 inch per year rainfall. and we are close to 6 inches with 3 months left to go in the rainfall year.
-
We were surprised with some light rain last night. It started about 7 and rained off and on until 10 or so. Not hardly enough to stop the dry conditions in the mtns. Calling for rain and possible thunder storms all weekend long. This weekend, our Carolina Conference church ladies have the annual 'Women's retreat' in Blowing Rock, about 30 minutes from my house. Looks like it will be wet for the weekend.

Got up to 60 today, now it's cloudy with rain squalls, possible scattered thunderstorms tonight. But it was nice enough long enough for me to sit out on the back deck with a book for a while after work this afternoon!
-
It has been dark and threating rain all day long, but only a few minutes of mist once in awhile. We still need more rain. California is suffering a draught!
-
It started raining just over an hour ago and we are up to 12/100" already. It appears to be slowing, but forcast says it may rain into the night. The ground is really sucking this in today.
-
NM, so glad you could sit out with a book for a bit. I love doing that too. And I'm glad you're getting rain Meece. Sheila, I hope your retreat weekend has some sunshine outside as well as inside. We made it up to 72 today with beautiful sun. Cooler tomorrow but still sunny.
-
Rained some yesterday and last night. Central Florida on down to the keys rely on rain for the aquifers. When we moved to Tampa 8 years ago, we were in a drought and up until this year, we have been desperate for rain. The resevoirs were almost dry last year. Well I'm happy to say they are overflowing now. Our "lake" out back has dried up on and off over the years. It is full now and so beautiful. Looks like more rain over the weekend. I also like rain to keep my pool full. When it gets hot, it will evaporate lots. I hate using water to fill it up, would rather use the rain. It was in the 80's today and very beautiful. Had a nice swim with the dog this afternoon.
-
Ok, I have to brag somewhere so I'm going to do it here! My Cat is AWESOME! A short preface first - she is a 12 year old Calico with no front claws and is very small at 7 pounds on a good day.
Now for the bragging - Since it has warmed up she spends more time outside roaming our 10 acres (and my sister's 10 acres next door). Last night she brought us the prize catch of her 12 years. We have been having lots of trouble with ground squirrels burrowing near the house and close to the foundation. She brought us a ground squirrel last night, it was quite dead and almost as big as she was. We were so proud (and so was she).
Hope I didn't offend anyone with my happiness over a dead ground squirrel.
Have a great weekend ladies.

suzwes--Good for your kitty!
Had some good hard rain here today. Chilly rain. I know April flowers bring May flowers, but that doesn't make me any happier with it. I'm getting tired of smelling wet dog and seeing muddy paw prints on the kitchen floor.
Aarrgghh, don't mind me today, I've been over-reacting to everything and now apparantly I'm getting cranky to boot. I'm going to go take another chill pill.
-
Suzette, I absolutely hate squirrels, any kind so I'm very happy for your kitty. Very nice and warm today, up in the 80's. Beautiful day and looks like a wonderful weekend.
-
Hi ladies,
Rain, rain and more rain. Supposed to rain during the Komen 5k race tomorrow but as long as it's not storming onward ho.
I was on the local news last night regarding the race and my team, don't know if the entire message got through but if you want to listen to the report you can go to
-
Good for you Suzwes!
Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here, warm, sunny, nice breeze. Opened up all the windows and blew out all the stale air left over from winter. Got a bit of a look at the garden, need to mow the back yard, lots and lots of work to do!
-
A very good morning from the Nation's capitol! I have been away since Easter and had quite a bit of reading to do in order to catch up here!!
The weather has been pretty nice here although in the last few days we are getting darker skies, lower tempertures and rain. All my life I have heard "if you don't like the weather in Washington, wait 5 minutes.' So true, so true.
Last weekend my brother and sister did a bunch of yardwork so our yard looks beautiful. My sister got a bunch of flowers for the front porch and some herbs. That said, we have two beautiful orange daylilies on either side of the columns of the front porch, some other flowers *purple and white and close to the ground," Two hanging baskets of flowers, a humongous pink hydrangea bush (10 huge flowers on one plant) which will have to be re-planted in the yard, a slew of herbs - oregano, basil (3 different kinds), mint, rosemary and tomatoes (contained in pots).
The missionaries from my Church keep asking for service projects so I have found one they can do (planting the hydrangea in the yard)! Next year I think two lilac trees are in order!
Isn't spring wonderful - it is so lush and green here.
-
We have had two absolutely perfect weather days in a row. Blue skies and mild temps. Spent the day at the Garden Fest yeasterday, so didn't get to work outdoors (at my home) at all. I did end up buying a peace lily, three leather leaf ferns, a ficus, and a juniper to bonsai. All one gallon or larger sized and for $26. What a bargain!
After church I plan on spending as much of the afternoon as I can outside. I need to re-do my straberry patch. I am losing so many strawberries to the wet weather and mud.
Spring is the best time of the year!
-
Still to chilly at night to plant a garden. But beautiful spring weather here in Toronto.I took these pictures last weekend in Niagra falls ont.
-
-
I went there 23 years ago this month. I thought it was beautiful! I would love to ake DH there. Thanks for the picture, Mum.
-
This past weekend was cool and breezy in Blowing Rock. we did have a shower Saturday afternoon into the evening and heavy fog when we started down the mtn Sunday. Calling for showers today, my cousin will be able to put up my ceiling fans today because other job is outside job. There is good news with rain.

We are supposed to get into the high 80s today, but a storm coming in will bring the temps back down considerably later this week. We have been on a yoyo this year. We had two snow days for a school district 35 miles from here last week!
-
Well, today has been a typical spring day in Maine. Got all the way up to 55 degrees at one point, then the wind came up, blew in the clouds and blew down the power lines while dropping rain and sleet on us for variety and interest. I AM SO TIRED OF COLD WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I agree NM, I'm tired of this. Last summer ws cold too although I didn't care cause I had chemo all summer. I want warmth. But, it should be coming for those on the east coast, we got up to 70 today after 59 yesterday. Tomorrow and Saturday it's supposed to be 80. I walked about 3/4 mile to see my advisor today (since they changed my grad program on me I actually had to see the assistant Dean) and then walked back to my office. It was about 50 degrees and it wasn't too bad, the sun was warming everything up.
-
Well, there was more snow in our county yesterday, closing the main artery between Northern and Southern California. We actually only got .04" of rain. If' this is the beginning of global warming, we'd better get some heavy coats and sturdy umbrellas.
-
Oh my Meece - is this typical for your county at this time of year?
-
It has been cool here in NC, today should start a warm-up. Tomorrow is the Annual Butterfly festival in town. My quilt quild has a booth where we are selling raffle tickets for a quilt and other hand-made items.
I got my ceiling fans put up this week, they are so quiet compared to the ones that were up (20+ yrs old).

Well, this turned into quite the exciting afternoon! As I was leaving work I drove through an horrendous downpour, complete with wind gusts that drove the wind sideways! Got off the interstate at my exit, had to backtrack because the road was blocked by a tree down on a live wire and the fire department wasn't letting anyone through. Drove through the village center, stopped to pick up a pizza, heard about another road blocked by a downed tree, and an outhouse getting knocked over by the wind. A quarter mile from my house I drove past a 6 inch diameter tree that was uprooted and is now lying on top of some poor soul's brand new storage shed! The weather guessers are saying that we can expect some pretty good thunderstorms over the next few days as a series of fronts moves through. Ought to be interesting!
-
What an adventurous ride home from work today! Glad you made it home safely and I hope you "weather" the storms well tonight. We had about 5 minutes of rain, two cracks of thunder and a few bolts of lightening and I think that's it for us tonight!
-
Wow, NM what a ride! Hope all goes well for you over the next few days. It is HOT here in Florida reaching the mid 90's today. Hoping for some rain later in the week.
