Hi I am the one who needs motatavtion badly have a sons wedding in August and a trip to bean town in July and still balding hair, I had taxotore and am one of the many ladies who did not get hair back or most of it enough its too ugly to wear so I tend to shelter myself in my house where I feel safe for 2 years I did get out and walk the dog last week and got my new dvd tape you do 20 minutes every day for 30 days works all over and its suppose to motaviate me ...I got Shape up sneakers they hurt like heck but they must work if they hurt ha and have been push mowing so my head sweats like never before not sure what that is all about it never sweat when I had a head full of hair for 3 people. Its pretty frustrating no one knows what to say what to do and its not self pitty its self esteem I am missing I know I can be pretty with hair and I cant handle a wig no way ..so I am trying ladies really I have goals and I know I am attracted enough for a 58 year old but no hair makes it very hard... its hard enough on us living with the C word around us never mind the bandaid allot of us have to deal with... and doctors saying have never seen it before DUH....sorry have to vent it out if I had hair my life would change so much I am outgoing and not too shy and single...so hopefully getting the workout in will help me mentally but its a push every day and its lonesome for sure..

Thanks for being here Spring remembers me from way back we had treatment I think about the same time and her hair is so lovely I finished in August in 08

    Happy Birthday Harley!!! Smile

Maura my Shape up sneakers also hurt at the beginning, so I know I am hoping they work.  Hang in there with the hair.  I did not have to go throuogh all of that so I can't say I know what you are going through, but exercising could be a first step.  As I have said before exercising also helps the mind, and heal the body.  You can do it, take the baby steps, like walking the dog.  Then go from there.  You have found a great forum here-everyone is very supportive.  They keep me motivated.

Who is going to be eliminated tonight?  Any clues?

    Hey All,

Happy Bday Harley! Hope it is a good one!

Maura, I have been using shape ups for about 3 months now, at work. My calves have never looked better, which considering that my weight has gone up again, is great. They do take a bit of getting used to, but I plan on getting a pair to actually go walking with.  As for your hair (((((hugs))))).

Brenda, see the doc on Friday about my lab results. Started exercising again, gently, walking with the doggy. Need to start yoga again as I seem to be losing my balance alot again. Plus, got to keep up with Deanna and Spring, man those two are hard to keep up with! Oops forgot about Aimn too, she is my hero, everyday on the WII and the weight she lost! I am gonna work hard to catch back up with you ladies.

Big hi to everyone else too! Kari, you need to put some pictures on line, either that, or I need to become a facebook friend! Would love to see pics of the wedding. Hope you are doing well too!

Gotta run, Maxie is waiting! ( my doggy)

Brenda, I was turned on to this homeopathic med through my sister in law.  Bought it at Whole Foods over the weekend.  It helps with my back pain!  www.traumeel.com/Traumeel_com_Tablets.homotox

I got the tablets, they dissolve under the tongue, but they also sell drops or ointment.  Maybe worth a try?

Quickie to all: Confession--no workout today, unless you count the deep breathing I will be doing in about 15 minutes with some sleep. I had an 11 hour day--not what I expected--and returned home for dinner and sleep! Of course, I just had to check in with you guys as part of my pre-bedtime relaxation....Glad to hear from you all. Kari--great pics! Thanks for sharing. Isn't that you in that nice blue dress? You all look so happy! By the way, I will check out the homeopathic remedy--thanks. Harley, What do you mean: shhhhh? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Maura, don't apologize for venting! You sound like you are trying to be more focused on those areas of your life where you do have control, like getting back in shape. That should boost your self-esteem! And keep checking in with us; we really offer some great support. See you all later....G'night.

Harley, I posted Happy Birthday to you on Facebook, but forgot to here!  oops  Hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

So aside from walking the property in Mexico, I did water aerobics 3 times while there.  Did 2 miles of walking last weekend and Monday night rode my bike to the club and then hit the torture machine (eliptical) for 35 min of leg torture and heavy breathing.  Tuesday night did 2 miles on the treadmill, with some inclines, and last night did a Bollywood Dance workout - which got my heart rate up, supposed to go for 45 min. but I pooped out 10 min. early, geez....Today, don't know if its allergies, but throat hurts and have a headache, WAH Wah Wah!

Having lunch today with my new bride daughter!  That will perk me up!  YAY!!

Have a great Thursday ladies.  Its been storming here for 3 days now and cold and looks like winter outside.  Where is spring?

Edited to Add:  Brenda, yes that's me in the blue dress!!

Kari, I saw a pic of you in your 2-piece bathing suit on FB!! You look like a kid! Wonderful pics!

Deanna, 10 miles, good grief, you are my HERO!!! I know you didn't do it, but you thought about it!!! I am currently happy to fit in 2 really fast miles a day. But I keep thinking of YOUUUUUU!!!

No walking Weds again, but the 90 min Yoga class, and just walked today, so it's good.

I want to share this visual with you. Maybe some of you are visual thinkers like me? I read somewhere recently (I think it was some posting by David Serban-Schreiver)  that when we walk or exercise, it's like we "clear out" our system of all the gunk and toxins that are not good for our bodies. If you skip exercising, it's like the gunk builds up. I try to visualize this and it helps me - as I walk I imagine gunk dissipating. It also has helped me stay more regular about exercise. Even a little helps.

    :)

Hi to everyone! Seems everyone has been very busy. Happy b'day Harley. The pics are great Kari. Love the visual Spring. Also got my package from Duke yesterday and will get it back for the retreat. Haven't been doing much for the past two weeks. Get my stitches out on Friday so maybe next week I can get back to a norm. I am walking Dd again everyday. One day I took her to the pond and let her loose. She ran, swam, and ran some more. then came home and slept.

Thought of ya'll the other night. Actually had a man come in and flirt with me! Boy that felt good! No stories to tell though. He is staying at the Inn till next Thursday. Who knows?

We are having beautiful weather now. Wish it would stay this way. And I actually have 2 days off together. Ainm - Are you having any issues with the volcano? Another man is staying at the Inn and his wife can't fly out of London.

Love to all and ((((((hugs)))))) to everyone. I'll get back into a rythm soon.Cool

Spring, have to admit, I am not a great visualizer but one of the things I do like about going for a walk is it does seem to clear my head. The body may get sore and tired from a walk, but the brain feels awesome!

    Joy you go girl!

Big hugs to all others. By the way, anyone heard from Meg lately?

I'd also love an update on or from Meg.

Joy, The retreat will be great! I am so glad you are coming and happy I'll get to meet you in person. I am on the planning committee and it has been fun, things are starting to cook now!

Ate part of my daughters brownie sundae for dessert! I took her for a belly button piercing and we celebrated by eating out. Salads for dinner, and a dessert! I didn't eat half, but I better walk tomorrow to clear out the gunk!

PK, it clears my head too!!! :)  That's the gunk going maybe, right??

    Kari

I saw your birthday wishes on FB...  Thanks!

    Thanks everyone!!

Well, I am not a good visualizer, either, but I like the thought of getting rid of the toxins and gunk...

I'll try to think about that more often.  I walked around Brookgreen Gardens today with my sister in law and MIL...   it was nice...  didn't feel too much like exercise.

Tomorrow and Saturday I have to work, but will try to fit in a short walk...  I am now feeling very guilty when I skip exercise.....

Happy birthday, Harley, and happy, healthy year ahead!

Love the getting rid of the gunk visualization, Spring.

Meg had her surgery earlier this month, and everything went very well.  The last I heard from her, about a week ago, she was waiting to find out if chemo might be recommended for a pathology she termed "funky."  Haven't had an update from her, but will share any news when I do.  She sounds like she's in excellent spirits, and even said that the second go-round was in some ways easier than the first.  I'm going to relay everyone's concern.  I know she'll really appreciate that everyone is asking for her.      Deanna

I was wondering what Meg was up to too.  Happy to hear she's doing so well.

Exercise took a bit of a dip this week, I've been dealing with some bad asthma.  Hasn't been this bad in years.  I'm blaming it on the chemo of course.  DH and I tried a walk last night and I was huffin and puffin trying to get up a lil ole hill.  It was ridiculous.  Remember Elmer Fud lisping thizs izs ridiDICulous!  That's what I felt like

Spring, you are a better woman than me....got a box of See's Candy for Admin Day and I proceeded to eat about 5 pieces last night - I WAS OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!  Half my dinner was salad, so I totally psyched myself into thinking it was ok, haha!  Gotta be out of control once in awhile or what's the point. haha

kmmd, big hugs - asthma is no joke.

So, Meg is doing fine, she's trying to figure out the Rads thing right now.  She and Allie are on another group that we took off of this BCO site (our Tamoxifen thread) and moved it to Yahoo Groups.  There is a procedure for rads that you lie face down and there is less of a risk to your heart, so she is contemplating that rads procedure but the drive is 30 minutes the opposite direction from her work in the middle of nowhere...but she's all good!!  I'll tell her you cuties are asking about her.

This is from Fitness Coach.com (I get emails from them)

A Happier Mind May Mean a Healthier Body:

There are plenty of ways to improve your mood-and perhaps benefit your overall well-being in the process. If you are having trouble seeing the glass as half full, try some of these tips:

    • Take a yoga class: Yoga may help relieve anxiety and depression and may also improve mood.
    • Make time for yourself: Life can be chaotic at times. Be sure you are taking time out to do something for yourself. You can read, go for a walk, meditate, or go for a swim-just make sure it is something you enjoy.
    • Get a massage: Massage therapy may help you relax and feel more content.
    • See things in a more positive light: Instead of saying, "I can't do anything right," try telling yourself, "This is difficult, but I bet I can do it if I keep trying." Don't give up on something when it begins to get complicated. Instead, take a break before you get overwhelmed and come back to the task later.

If you can bring together your mental and physical well-being, you will be well on your way to a healthier life!

    Happy Friday, everyone!

Just finished 5.4 miles, but I had skipped yesterday.  Now sitting here thinking about all the gunk that's leaving my body.  YaY!

Great tips from Fitness Coach, Kari.  Thanks for sharing!  And thanks for mentioning that homeopathic med for back pain.  I hope it's helping yours a lot.

Have a great weekend, everyone!    Deanna

    Pssst, Harley ................... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Joy - our air space was closed down for a week but is open again now and catching up with the backlog.  A lot of people got stranded here and quite a few Irish people got stranded abroad too.

Kari - how do I find you on FB??  Welcome back and those pics look amazing.

Please give Meg my best wishes.

Please forgive me for not listing everyone but I hope you are all doing well and I compliment you on your exercise - I am keeping up my Wii Fit but it still takes effort and I would give anything to just give up!!

    Have a good weekend.

Diane--Amazing! I can't imagine that I would ever be able to walk 60 miles in 3 days, but I can live vicariously through you if you do it (although I will choose not to be quite as sore as you might be...)!

Kari, Thanks for the tips. And thanks to you and Deanna, for the update on Meg. I have been thinking of her and hoping that she is recovering well from surgery and getting clearer on her care options.

I walked yesterday morning for about 30-40 minutes then worked in the yard for almost an hour. I have got to get my total time investment in my "routine" workouts to increase from 30 to at least 45 minutes. Of course, I will continue to reserve the right to follow the 15 minutes rule when needed.... Check with you all soon.

Oops, I forgot to add that I just finished a 40 minute classical stretch workout today!

Mumayan, you do not have to join a gym to lose weight.  The weather's warmer now, put your shoes on and go for a nice long walk.  You will feel so much better.
