ELABsters......
I am encouraged just reading back thru everyone's posts.
Had my own dark down-the-drain evening yesterday following apt to BS. He garners no points from me. Not one.
I know this week of being on the road will have added to the scales for me, but I am in for the long haul and will plunge into routine exercise tomorrow.
Paulding, I just wanted you to know how VERY much I appreciated your candor.it was like you were perched on my shoulder, or inside my brain.
Hugs to all making an effort to change behavior.

Thanks for being my support group, ladies! I did sin last night and ate a sliver of leftover birthday cake. I just can't wait until that thing is gone!! Too much temptation...
I did some "arm work" with light weights last night. My niece's wedding is in July, and I'm wanting to wear a sleeveless dress. Hopefully I can get rid of some "arm jigglies" before then.
Have any of you ever tried dragonboating? There is a group in Charlotte called the Healing Dragons that races dragonboats. It is a group for bc survivors and friends/family. Their first practice is Saturday, so I'm going to go and try it. I'm hoping that will help my "jigglies" as well.
I'm trying to get myself psyched up for my leftover fish, brown rice and veggies for lunch. I really want some good Mexican food, though!
As Faith says, strength and courage.
With a large dose of willpower thrown in...

Hello, all! Checking in. 3 weeks out from DIEP, and I went for a walk this morning and cleaned most of the kitchen. I feel so excited about that (how sad!). Taking a sit down break. I ate scrambled eggs and potato puffs..weird breakfast but I was hankering for potatoes and eggs, so there it is.
Pauling--A couple years ago, docs thought I had a heart condition (dont), and the heart doc said to avoid the whites, but oatmeal and anything that was a veggie was fine to eat. I lost like a pound every other day just by doing that. It was amazing! I also watched a diabetes show last week while hanging out recovering, and the guy said rye and pumpernickel were great breads to eat and low glycemic (raises blood sugar slowly and steadily), but white and even wheat can raise your blood sugar.
I so agree with your nutritionist/doc about margarine. It is gross! And even all those "I cant believe it's not butter" things have the trans fats and soybean oil etc...but I think some have changed that. I have always stuck to butter and sugar versus the chemical things. Course...I also ate too much, so I guess I didnt help myself any.
-
Recently I used to eat (December1st was the last time) large portions of food and snack all night in front of my computer.
Now I'm used to eat small portions and no snacking except fruits.
Some days I really crave for something sweet or salty.
I'm not giving up. Glass of water when Im really craving.
Meece...Last Thursday night I had to go to the bathroom, was very happy, what a perfect night get all empty. (sorry)
Hi cake...I use EVOO, for almost everything.
Hi Ladies.
You all have a nice day.

Part of using less real butter vs margerine might be the cost. I am so bad at choosing the margerine to bake with by price. I purchase real butter too, but not to spread on bread or put in cookies, mainly to cook with. It really does taste better.
-
Just dropping by before weigh in tomorrow and I hope I lost that 2 lbs. I have been a big carnivore all week and have stuck to under 20grams of carbs. I just went to Subway and had a BMT salad with just wine vinegar dressing, it was great! I keep visualizing myself in a particular dress at White House Black Market (?) I saw it in the window and the store is next to Godiva Chocolate and I had to convince myself I would rather wear the dress
-
Omaha Girl, what strength me I would have chosen the chocolate, now it it were a nice new shiny canning kettle or garden shredder I may have bypassed it LOL
-
I saw a pretty dress in the window of White House/Black Market on Sunday. I want to feel good in sleeveless tops and dresses again, too.
If I keep eating like I did at lunch I could loose tons! DH chose Burger King, but I thought I would be good by ordering the green salad with grilled chicken. They only had the fake cheese and some baby carrots on a bed of iceburg lettuce. Oh, I could have added croutons, but I held back. When they called our order, they gave us the salads and told us the chicken will be out when they are finished. Got through half of the salad before they brough out the chicken and a couple of slices of tomatoes. When I poured the chicken (Not quite completely cooked) onto my salad, the grease flowed. Needless to say, I did not complete the meal. I will not be going back there.
I just feel grossed out.

I love this thread!...But if you eat like my 2 birds do you'll weigh a ton by the end of the month!.....LOL ...They eat 24/7!.....I swear it's true!.......I too need to lose 25 to 30 pounds but with my diabetes and all the meds I take that CAUSE weight gain what am I gonna do????.......

So I am in Florida and I will continue my E-LAB attempt. I have not sinned and I have been eating in moderation (which was my problem). All during chemo. I couldn't eat hardly anything and now since I finished chemo. and my taste buds are back I am eating like a pig. I am not joking and I justify it by I couldn't eat it last year so I am going to do it right. Well my body is a jiggly mess and it will be no more. I plan on going walking in a little bit and I will do my sit ups and push ups (they are hilarious) because I need to strenghten my body. Even if I do not lose a pound it will feel good not to jiggle all over.
-
(singing)...watch it wiggle...see it jiggle... :0)
Meece, that meal definitely did not sound pleasurable, LOL!
-
I guess the eat less move more, part two should be applied now. I don't feel any different than when we started this. For some reason I am feeling on the brink of a melt down this afternoon.
-
Meece - is it a food binge melt down or a different type of meltdown? I'm so sorry, what a horrid feeling. It sounds like you're doing the right things to me. Just takes some time.
Ladies, I hope this doesn't sound like a lecture cause it's not meant that way, It's just something I have to keep telling myself. I've read that sometimes you should give into the cravings occasionally, for example if you're craving chocolate, have a little bit once in a while so you don't feel deprived and it helps in success.
Also, we're not supposed to change everything at the same time, even though we want everything done right away! We are supposed to just change a little at a time and then the goal is more successful. Now, do I remember this advice? No, I don't but my friends keep reminding me about "baby steps" and not to make every change right away, just change one or two things at a time.
FYI: I just wrote this while drinking a glass of a Michigan Grand Traverse Late Harvest Chardonnay. Sin, Sin, but Yum, Yum. Only one glass for me though, one large glass - you can drink white wine in a red wine glass right????
-
Now Cake if you sing it make sure you sing it loud.....
Battling a headache today so axed the walk/run
Booooohiisssss
As my dad used to say tomorrow's another day
.
I did get out today and chase the kids at the park and took pictures of them. I guess i got a little bit of an arm workout as my camera weighs in at about 7lbs (I am a photographer).
-
This is for cake........lalalalalalalalalal lalalala lalala laaaaaaaaa
Meece I had some meltdowns when I really felt going to Chinese Buffet and eat every possible thing. It lasted 2 days. Now I understand that food is an addiction. I hope thats what you meant by meltdown.
Suz....When I first started to diet I went from everything to practically nothing. That was the only way for me.
Hi hollyann....How is everything? I missed you.
jaimieh...vacation time is fun time. You are doing lot of walking and carrying that 7lbs camera.
Tonight go have something you really like.

I'm not going to say give up trying to fight the "wiggly-jigglies" BUT I remember seeing a Madonna interview about a while ago. Yes, Madonna, the singing, dancing machine, physically fit, personal chef-having, personal-trainer-having, three-hour daily work-out woman...that's her. Well, she's about my age and she had some jiggly, bat-wing arm flab. Not a lot, but I saw it jiggle. I then realized that there was no way I'd ever be able to make MY jiggle go away.
-
Confession time, I gained a pound this week. Too much time at home cooking and baking but I wil continue to work on letting go of my not so good for me foods and eating the better ones. I am a stress eater and for some reason, LOL it has be a STRESSFUL week, I need to get outside and working in the yard and garden.
-
FRIDAY!!!! I am at 165 lbs. I'm thankful that the piece of cake I ate that was the size of my head didn't add any weight.
Good Luck on your weigh in today girls!
-
Cogratulations Paulding Mom! Crossing my fingers that I just hold my weight from last weight.
-
CRAP! Put me down for 148.6.......
Have to make more changes, I guess.
Back later.
-
Valjean, we don't post the backslides!
I need that trip to the restroom before weighing in. Sorry, TMI.
No, my melt down had nothing to do with food. I just feel near tears right now.
-
Hi Meece, I've been bouncing around between 185 and 187 this week. Yesterday for lunch I was going to have "ants on a log" ( celery with peanut butter and raisins on top), but I didn't have any raisins, so I just had a "log". I got the peanut butter freshly ground at our local health food store. It's a coarse grind and the oil doesn't separate from the butter, so you don't have to stir it every time you use it. It's the first time I've gotten it and I like it pretty well. Spring is just around the corner!
-
Meece,
(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))
-
So, is weigh in on Fridays for everyone? If yes, I have no change...but I just started. I'm eating great, but sitting around, so not much activity. Going for a walk every day that it's not raining.
-
((((((Meece))))))) ((((((Hugs))))))
-
161.6
I had my glasses on.
-
Okay FINALLY I weighed in this morning at 152.5
Crap I just looked up and I am still up .5 lbs......grrrrr.... I will just keep moving eventually that scale will be back below 150
I will just keep working at it.
-
Confession time...I am up a pound - back at 154.
Trying to eat my carrots and drink my water and be happy about it. I didn't pack a lunch, which spells trouble, but I'm planning on going to Subway for their chicken breast sandwich.
Hopefully I'll have better luck next week.
((((((HUGS, Meece!!))))))
-
I didn't have access to the scale in the bathroom until I was already dressed. I will do the real weigh in this afternoon or evening. Still not feeling good about what I might see.
Thanks for the hugs. I hope today feels better.
Girls, lets get back on track this week. We can do it!!!
-
Meece - Beidh gach rud níos fear amarach - hang in there!!!
I've been off form this week - lots of ups and downs, emotionally and humour wise, rather than weight. Have a bad head cold (yeuch), Mum (who suffers from dementia) has been taking up a lot of time and energy (it's a long story), and then on the upside my DD & DS had given me concert tickets for my birthday and I really enjoyed the concert with DH on Monday (had our dinner out before hand, I guess there is no such thing as a healthy alfreado sauce), and my DS came runner up in a university post graduate public presentation, and today I hosted a really successful 'Daffodil Day Coffee Morning' and raised € 3,500 for the Irish Cancer Society.(and I didn't pig out on the home baking!!!)
And the scales have been kind I'm down 1.2 lbs to 169.3 lbs, so I really shouldn't have any reason to complain!!! - but who needs a reason???
Good luck to everyone for the coming week.
