Any have problems with fractures following treatment?

Not sure where to post this, but since I was diagnosed as stage 3, here I am.  Just curious if others have had problems with osteoporosis caused by chemo and chemo induced menopause which has resulted in fractures?  What did your doctor recommend for treatment if you don't mind sharing.  Did it work or do you still have problems with fractures?

    I had fractured ribs after my last fill during recon...led to a BMD test...osteoporosis...ca/vit D and Actonel...now on Zometa.

    I completed my treatments in Dec2008 (Chemo and radiation after surgery). I had severe cough in April 2009. Followup scan was in Sept 2009 - which showed fractures in the ribs (same side as radiation). I still have the same fractures - not healed yet. There was no mets - just broken ribs!!

    I was told that radiation can cause the bones to become fragile and they can break with little or no trauma. No treatment - just pain meds.

    Same thing here.....fractured rib carrrying luggage on a trip to europe......had no idea I did it until I went to lay down in bed that night.  Takes a long time to heal.

    I just had a bike accident during a triathalon and broke my collarbone - dont think it was chemo related or radiation related and have had 2 doses of zometa (to prevent osteo and hopefully cancer) - will see how healing goes - it has been a week and I am not a happy camper yet.

    One of the known side effects of zometa and other bone strengthening medications is--oddly enough--fractures. With Zometa, especially of the femur.
