edited June 2014 in Stage III Breast Cancer

I''ve been hospitalized at Duke since Sunday evening for yet again another abdominal infection that may or may not be related to my ruptured appendix episode in Feb.  My docs say it would be too risky to try a diagnostic colonoscopy or to operate on the appendix  until I finish this infection settles down. They now think I may have some secondary condition precipitated by the ruptured appendix trauma....Crohns or diverticulitis or cancer.  They say my case doesn't present as the usual cancer diagnosis...but then again it didn't look like I had node involvement with the BC.

I've tried to keep up with the threads a bit while here. It's been harder this time...I've lost 11 lbs. since Friday....all liquid diet again.  The good news is I may get to go home tomorrow.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  I really really want to get past this and enjoy the beginning of spring.  I don't know what the future holds re my breast cancer and I don't like spending the present on my back.

I do have good news...my 3 mth. mammos and onc. appt. went well last Friday...ned.  Was celebrating through the weekend till Sunday.....

Thinking of all of you and reading everyday.

Molly

Oh, Molly, I am sorry to hear this. Wishing you a speedy recovery, and I hope they get to the root of your problems, and it is something simple, treatable, and not cancer.

On a brighter note, gotta love that guy NED! That is fabulous news!!

Thanks, girls. It is so good to read your words of support.  I did get to come home today and it is true: there is NO place like home.  My little fur-girl, TL, visited at her uncle's house while I was in hospital. She was so, so excited when she greeted us.

I am to rest and recover for 4 week before I can have the colonoscopy to get to the bottom of this and finally surgery....

Gosh this is so worrying. Glad you were at Duke this time around...Since you are now home you know that spring has not yet come to the mountains. I have never known it to be so late. Usually my forsythia has come and gone by now, but today it was still zipped up tight.

So amazing of you to think of Hannah's from your hospital bed! We had a rousing good St. Paddy's Day as is always the case. Lots of green beer and corned beef and cabbage. Next year you will need to be there, well, and slighty fattened up. Take care, and I am going to PM you as wel tonight.

btw Grace.  I have a friend in Asheville.. a fairly reclusive woman with long hair who has a husband who is physically disabled.  Jo... She's a pianist by night and researcher by day (working on breast cancer drugs i believe).

    Isn't Asheville fairly small?

I'm sorry to hear that this is continuing to be a problem for you.  Cancer is enough.  Congrats that your NED!  Keep him around, I hear he's a good guy.

Hopefully when your spring finally arrives you'll feel well enough to enjoy it.  We had an unusually early spring in the Pacific Northwest and the timing for me worked out so nicely since I've been able to enjoy it while being on disability.  Usually it just flies by while I'm stuck in an office.

I so love feeling I am building friendships across the continent...and beyond...here. I get so much energy hearing about how you are all looking forward to the advent of spring as I am!  And thanks especially to my NC sisters, Weesa, Pure and Kandy. I sure hope to meet both of you.

Apple, Asheville has a fairly small, population, around 74000, including a wealth of interesting, free-thinking and artistic people to meet....as your friend sounds.  I know some of the local muscians but your friend's description doesn't ring a bell. What genre of music does she play?

I've made my bed, eaten my oatmeal (and almond biscotti), called my Congressman and NOW I'm goin' for a long, slow hike. I see tiny buds on the trees!
