Does anyone know if..
wheat grass has estrogen like properties? Also, if your bc is pr and er positive, what veggies are safe? This is all so confusing? Just when I think something is safe, it's not.

Flax seed and soy products are the big phytoestrogens. I found out the hard way as I was taking flax seed supplements to deal with the side effects of AC at first until I mentioned it to my onc's PA at my next visit and she said to stop. I found a chart on this website that gives you a good idea. I miss my old pasta, pre-packaged salad dressings, and hummus the most (though I still eat a little hummus now and then!). Hope this helps....

The only things I actively avoid are Soy and Flax. Everything else I think is probably OK in moderation.

Soy should be avoided. The research on flax is not so straightforward since it is digested differently. Some say it's ok, some say don't use it.
Kimber, why are you avoiding hummus? It's chick peas, not soy beans, and no phytoestrogens as far as I know.

I agree with Kerry. If it's fruit or veggie, I eat it. Soy I usually avoid but I've heard as long as you eat it in moderation. My onc told me just to stay away from suplements and herbs like Black Cohosh or other supplements that mimic estrogen. I've also heard that ginseng is a phytoestrogen.
