    Hi All,

Honestly, checking into this post after a long absence is mind-boggling to me.  You've all got so much going on.  But I'm happy, that for the most part, everyone's doing well and getting back into the swing of life!  Isn't it wonderful.

Francine - so happy to hear about your B9 results and I hope you're enjoying your cruise to the fullest.

Pickle - Great news about your quick recovery  from surgery and I love your avatar.  I fell in love with those mittens when they showed them on one of the news programs here.

Rachel - so sorry about your blog.  I agree with the others - start a new one.

Chris - hope your trip to Atlantic City was good.  Ahhh  - beach weather time is coming up...  wahoo...

    Dawn - enjoy Florida!!!

Patti - hope you're handling the snow O.K.  Ours is melting big time here but there are still some huge piles around.

Everyone else, my best goes out to all.  I'm so lousy at communicating.  But you're all in my prayers.

Well all, I've spoken to my onc about the lousy side effects I'm experiencing with tamoxifen (shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, and just all around began to feel lousy) and they're checking my hormones to see if I can take the other med (I can't believe I can't remember what it's called).  He said it doesn't have the side effects tamoxifen has.  So I'm hoping....

As far as my bloodwork checks..  I started with monthly blood checks and am now up to checks performed every two months.   Next week I finally have my follow up mammo and CT scan.  So, I'm sweating a little.  I feel fantastic, but you never know...  (sigh)

I've decided to sell my house and get a bigger one.  I met with a realtor for the first time this week and I'm so excited.  So much to do!!!!

Also, what's the status on NYC?  Are there any plans yet?

Take good care all of you wonderful women and as always my best to you all.

Beth - Good luck with your househunting.

Francine & Chris - enjoy your trips lucky you are heading or are in warmer weather, soak up that Vitamin D.

Nana - So sorry about your co-worker and his family/friends.  So young.

We didn't get hit as hard as was thought.  We had a snowday but probably could have gone to school.  Oh well we will make it up at the end of the year.  I am schedule to work then anyway, so for me  it doesn't really matter I will just have less days to close up the school year end and clean up my desk.

Beth R: Happy House Hunting. That's exciting! Hope they find out if tamoxifen is responsible for the se's. Plans for NYC will be firmed up when Chris and Francine get back form their cruises. I am planning to be there April 8th-11th

Patti: Glad you weren't hit too hard with the storm. I have a lot of relatives in Nova Scotia and they got whacked pretty good.

Gina: So great to hear from you. Love your avatar. Some of us are planning a trip to NYC April 8 (or 9th) - 11th. It will be so nice to meet in person. We would love to have you join us. Francine, Chris and I will start confirming hotels etc as soon as they get back from their cruises. Do you think you can make it?

    Big Hockey Game today.....anybody watching?

Sorry I haven't been back on the board....I'm always so busy!  I think of it when I'm driving or some other time when I'm not near a computer!    I got the results of the 2nd Mammogram back and all is clear!  WHEW!  Since it's been a year, I go to my surgeon just for a "check up" on Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone for being there for me when I freaked!
    Hugs

Beth and everyone:   SO SORRY I didn't get back to you earlier....I was reading your posts.  So sorry so many of you are going through various "crap".....tamoxifen, lumps, bumps, spots, surgeries, etc.   I would love to just forget I ever had cancer and have life return to normal, but I guess that's not happening...this is the "new" normal!

I'm finishing my Master's Degree right now....getting ready to present my paper, I'm working full time, etc....so I'm constantly on the go!

    Love you all!

Ladies: Faithandfifty from another thread has sent a message to everyone here requesting birthday cards to be sent to another member, Saint. She is stage iv and has had an extremely tough time.  Her birthday is coming up on March 9th and Faith would like to get as many cards sent to Saint as possible. It doesn't matter what stage we are or if we are complete strangers, Faith wants to shower her with good wishes. If you would like to send a card, PM me and I'll give you Saint's address. Faith also mentioned if you have a church group, school group or whatever that would like to send cards please encourage them to do so.

    Thanks

    Hugs

I didn't realize I'd been gone so long.  It's nice to see more of us pop in as our chemoversaries hit.  I remember some of you started a year ago today, and I started a year ago this Saturday.

Francine, I hope you're having a blast on your cruise.  I wish I was here when you were all having scares, because I went through the same thing in October.  One night I sat in my car during football practice, crying HYSTERICALLY, until a mom I know knocked on my window and told me I probably just had scar tissue.  Yeah, she was right.  And there's nothing like getting that information.  I swear, that was the best day!

I tame my curls.  I've always had curly hair, and now it's these tight ringly curls, and they make my hair look shorter than it is.  So I blow out my hair straight, and I like it like that.  I might just keep this style, I like it so much.

    Beth, I'd like Saint's address :)

    Michelle!  Great hairdo!

Beth! I'd like Saints address too, please.

Finally after 8 months post chemo I am wigless, and look like hell!  My friend Lisa that I met in florida last week gave me the courage to do it! She looked so natural with her very short hair. Mine is short and sparse, my work friends and my family are supportive. I feel as if it never will thicken up wearing a wig! so here I am with this super short reddish hair, I always had a blonde bob!  I look in the mirror and wonder who is looking back!!!! I just have to wait and see what happens to me. Anyway it is great to be out from under that wig!!! I give those of you who were wigless long ago alot of credit. Anyway I am happy I did it!

    Hi all...

Dawn - CONGRATULATIONS on going wigless.  I know how you feel.  Mine went off as my New Year's resolution and those first weeks in January were so hard.  I honestly felt like a total freak!  But, as you said, it's so great to have the wig off, I just couldn't put it on again.  Now it hardly bothers me although my hair could grow a little faster..   lol...

Beth - I made my flight arrangements a while ago and will be arriving in La Guardia at around 3;30..  If you want, I can wait around.  In fact.. if there's anyone else planning on arriving in La Guardia on the 8th why don't we see if we can sync it up?

     have a great evening all,

    Beth

Ooh, you are all going to have so much fun in NY. What a great idea. I wish I could join you, but it will be Spring Break here (kids, family et al).

What is it with the timing of scares? Is it just when you start to let you guard down and feel like it is OK to live normally?  I am going through a battery of testing right now so my onco can prove to me that I am not falling apart. God bless that man...but if it weren't for him, I sure would think this was more than just deja vu.  If anyone is interested in talking Tamoxifen, let me know. I thought I was SE free (feeling pretty good, ya know) but apparently not.

But, the icing on my cupcake is that I am having my exchange surgery this Thursday!! Yeah - no more sleeping on baseballs! ;-)

Pickle - I would love Saint's address. Will PM you for it.

Gina: Too bad that you can't make it to New York but it is so nice to see you back here.

What tests are you getting done? Sending positive thoughts and big hugs your way. There have been quite a few of us that have had some follow up biopsies, scans etc and thankfully everyone has had good results. We are wishing the same for you. I think it is great that our docs are diligent with follow up testing but... boy...is it nerve racking!  I am on Tamoxifen (since July). I have hot flashes, mood swings, leg and foot cramps but not much more than that. What are you having?

    I just PM'd the address.

    Hugs

    Hello Ladies,

Thanks for all the well wishes.  I had my mammo and Ultrasound yesterday. No biopsy.  It was only fluid.  They are not sure why it came up now but, I get it aspirated next week.

    Hi Ladies,

I am back from my cruise. We had a terrific time especially meeting people from all over the US and canada. Our weather at both stops..Grand Cayman and Cozumel was really nice. The waters were rough both going and coming to the islands though. I did get my gift from Chris which she left for me on Cozumel What fun that was.

Beth congrats on all of Canada's wins. Many on our ship watched the gold medal hockey game .Beth just love the new Avatar. You are so creative.Glad you are feeling fine after your surgery.

How nice to hear that many will be with us in NYC. I can't wait to meet all. After Chris comes back we must get definites so we can reserve hotels etc.

So great to hear all the chatter and to hear from many .Yes our year chemo anniversary is coming up for all. I had mine on my cruise.

So many good things to hear..Dawn has gone wigless and has met a new friend for her and her daughter. Diane and Gina have had their exchanges. Nasharayne is fine and Christy is ending her Herceptin.

Beth do send me Saints address.

I do have many pictures but will post them tomorrow .

I do have a FUNNY chemo story which my DH and I told my oncologist two weeks ago. On the day of my first chemo last year..March 2..  predictions were for a big snow. We fretted so much the day before. Luckily the weather was not that big the day of the chemo and we made it in. Well when we finally got to the office where I had my chemo there were two not one but two men wearing shorts in the middle of a snow storm. Crazy ...

    Hugs,

    Francine

Welcome back Francine! Sounds like a wonderful trip and to have a gift waiting at Cozumel....so sweet!

Looking forward to some pics and some NYC planning!

Elena: Welcome. Sorry to hear of your recurrence. I did AC last year but I am not familiar with CMF. There have probably been some gals here who had the same treatment. Also, you may want to check and see if there in a March 2010 chemo group starting. It is really helpful to have others going through it at the same time. Good Luck and pop in anytime.

    Hi,

What a really beautiful day here in NYC. I do hope we all have a day like this in April. My DH and I went to the Bronx Zoo today. Saw some interesting animals. Should have brought my camera.

On our carnival cruise I did the cancer walk once again..On Deck for the Cure. And of course it had to be inside again. Here are some photos my DH took. Very windy on deck.
