HI...I didnt know about this thread. Im joining in.

Short version of the beginning of my diet.
December 1st.... I go to Macys and in the fitting room, see myself in the big mirror all lights are shining on me. I looked 7 months pregnant. I come home.
December 2nd....I put myself on a diet, cut all the junk food I used to eat every night in front of the computer goes in the garbage.
As of today lost 10 pounds but no more is coming off.
I walk every day maybe up to 2 miles.
Portions are small, instead of finishing 9 oz of Hershey kisses in one night, I only eat 3 or 4.
This is my diet. I got so used to it. I think my stomach shrank. Occasionally I get food cravings.
I need to loose few more pounds and maintain it.
Thank You.
Sheila

Hi Ladies,
haven't been on here in a bit but all is well. I've actually lost another 4 lbs since I last posted, so that makes 19 lbs so far since about October. Keeping vigilant about what I eat and making sure I do some kind of exercise. Last week I lost 3 of those lbs I think because I had a couple of very long days at work on my feet, running around the store. Have to tell you, those sketchers shape-ups are really comfy when you're on your feet all day!(still haven't noticed that they help with shaping up though)
Great news though is MRI was clean! WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Evidently tumor markers good as well since I have not heard from Onc.

Take care my northern ladies and hope you don't get too much more snow! Just don't over-do on shoveling.
Have a great day.

Seyla I have the same problem with store dressing rooms. But my scale refuses to budge and I am working out regularly.
-
KAC....You should be proud of yourself. I'm trying so hard to maintain the 10 pound lost
JO..You must have a good metabolism or you don't eat junks.
mum...I got on the scale I gained 2 pounds this morning because I had some (well a lot) crackers before I went to bed.
This morning those crackers were thrown in the garbage.
I don't want to be thin or anything, just loose 15 pounds all together and maintain it.
Thank you All
Sheila

Had my weigh-in on Thursday and am down another 3 lbs. Hopefully I can keep the weight from piling back on while on vacation. We are now in Galveston and will be boarding the ship tomorrow and will probably want to sample all the food available!! Will try to keep the excercising up while on board though!! Keep up the great effort everyone!
-
Ok ladies.............
After a little break, ok...it was longer than a break, Im going full force Monday.
Just a recap of why I have slugged out : I had my exchange surgery Jan 28th and last week got a slight infection. The infection has seemed to clear up, and Im feeling better now. Yesterday was my husbands b-day, so we had the best Greek food and cake. Thats it!
I havent gained weight, just have maintained. But, I really want to get those pounds off in the next 3 months. So today, Im going to hit the grocery store to stock up the fridge with lots of good food choices and dust off my runners!
I hope someone else can join me! I know that the weather in some parts of the US have been cold and snowy....but here in Vancouver , Canada...the cherry blosoms are out, and yesterday I was walking around all afternoon in a t shirt and yoga pants! It was +16 degrees! I have a feeling that summer is coming fast this year.
Hope you are all well....and those who are loosing congrats and keep going. See you at the finish line!
-
Ohhhhhhh, bad birthday weekend, Morrocan food, whiskey milk shakes and some other junk..but back on to healthier eating now that it is over. Hopefully I did so much walking with DD in Manhattan that none of the calories stuck.
-
Hi, all!
Well...I havent lost a single pound, but now I have a new idea...my DIEP surgery is next Thursday, so while I'm recovering in my 5 day hospital stay eating broth and jello, I'll get all the "sugar" outta my system and then my mom in law is staying 5 more days, so I wont have to cook and will be forced to eat less! Hopefully, that will kick start my ability to EAT LESS.
-
LOL, JO--I see what you mean...you must have Italian relatives? My grandma from Italy would always sit us down as kids, and yell at us to "EAT EAT!!!" And the other side of my family is Pennsylvania Dutch, and MAN do they know how to eat!
My mil is wonderful...but her side of the fam no one is fat and so I am the odd ball. She'll be "nicely" feeding me celery and cucumbers, LOL!
I think I gained weight too (this is so ridiculous), but I'm not weighing myself!
-
Hi Ladies,
If I may, I would love to join you?! I have 50lbs I need to dump. I lost weight without a lot of effort after bmx and before Tamoxifen. Now I feel like if I just look at food I gain weight. Not sure if it is Tamoxifen, but all I know is I need to get rid of it! The funny thing is yesterday I had decided starting today, no more sugar. Ugghhh, that means a headache and low energy for the next few days.
-
welcome ckl65! I STILL have 60 lbs to lose, LOL...my problem is that I try for a little, then I bomb and gain back whatever I've worked so hard to lose. So annoying! My surgery is Mar 4, so I'm going to start back up again after I get home from the hospital.
While I was on Tamox, I found I could lose weight...I stopped Tamox temporarily for the surgery, and I GAINED weight..I'm sure cuz I eat too much. So, maybe Tamox inhibits some people who are close to their goal weight, but I could lose weight even on Tamox maybe because I have so much to lose.
JO--LOVE SOUTHERN cooking, although I cant eat too much spicy. I love "Dids ya eat!" That is so cool! I feel so bad for you that you are not losing weight even though you've stopped desserts and not eating after supper. That seems definitely like it should work! Hugs...I'll go eat some ice cream for you (just kidding!)!
Hey...where's patoo been? Probably shoveling today like me....AGAIN
-
Thanks for the welcome Cake!
I know some girls lose weight on T while others gain or can't lose. I have a friend who has been on it for 2yrs and can't lose a pound. I refuse to agree to that! LOL! Been a good day, no sugar withdrawal headache today... lol!
Take care!
-
Hi all. Cake, I'm here. Have been lurking but not posting too much. I'm actually down 12 lbs since beginning of December. Hope I can maintain that and still would like to lose another 20. But even if I don't lose, it feels good to be getting in better shape.
I've stopped sweets for the most part and don't eat nearly as much "bad" food as I used to. Also exercising 6 days a week even if only for 20-30 mins a day. So far it's working.
Welcome kcl65. Takes time so don't lose patience.
-
Hiya patoo! Glad to see ya around! I think of you every time I go out and SHOVEL...again and again and again this year.
JO--Go figure your mom gains weight on the healthy cooking...I am a great fan of BUTTER, LOL!
-
Hi Ladies,
Not sure when I last posted here. I'm down 20 lbs so far since I started. Need to keep vigilant about what I eat and be sure to get some sort of exercise. All my joints have been bothering me these past couple of weeks and I have slacked a bit on the exercise. Plus I don't know if I'm trying to fight a cold or if it's the effects of the Femara. I need a swift kick to get me back into a routine!
Patoo- you go girl! Congratulations
Probably all that shoveling is good for you after all! I do not miss it a bit. It's been quite cold down here and cloudy as well and I wonder if that's part of my problems lately. JO- my parents have sent me pictures of all the snow there. I don't think it's hit that bad there in a long time. Good luck with the spring cleaning. That is hard work and should help you out a bit.
Just taking it one day at a time. That's all we can do, right? It is what it is! Good night all!

Patoo Way to go girl.
-
I gained 5 pounds this week! I'm hopeless. Stressed cuz of surgery tomorrow. But after being in hospital for 5 days and then mil cooking, I think I'll get the overeating out of my system for awhile!
-
Thanks JO! I still have hope I'll lose after this is all done.
I'm off to the city! Will check back in a week!
-
HUGS going with you Cake!
Hi everyone.
-
Cake will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all goes very well for you and that your recovery is smooth sailing!
Okay, last week I decided to do a modified Atkins (minus all the fat and red meat) and I lost 8 lbs. OMG I have found that I am eating better actually with more veggies and I am so excited because at WW I just couldn't seem to get my appetite under control. I think WW is the best but because of menopause and Arimidex, and gabapentin it was just an up hill battle. I hope I can maintain a consistent weight loss...I hate being a chumba wumba as I have really cute clothes hanging in my closet and I don't want them to go out of style before I can wear them again LOL
-
I too have cut the red meat but yesterday craved pizza. So made my own dough with whole wheat flour, and made vegie pizzas with homemade marinara sauce and low fat mozerella.Lot of work but worth it the whole family was happy.
-
Well, the past three times at WW, I had gained weight which is very depressing since I am NOT cheating....so then trying to be positive about this, I thought hmmmm, maybe that means the megace is kicking in and working for me (since the SE is weight gain and it's also the reason they quit using it as treatment for BC because I guess women just refused to take it). Well, no such luck we did my CA 27/29 Wed. and the numbers have jumped from 127 to 322 and that is a big increase for just two months.....so I afraid it is going to back to the drawing board re treatment. But I plan on continuing with WW....for one reason I have enough Edy's no sugar frozer fruit bars in the freezer to last for several months, fiber bars for at least three months and all kinds of other diet snacks and treats I have stocked up on. The other reason is I feel better about myself when I am not overweight. Just today I discovered these Smartfood popcorn snacks at Target that were on sale and very yummy. And Quaker makes these True Delights that are really good...they are cheapest at Target also. Seems like just about everything has two points which isn't much at all. I am feeling much better, eating healthy. Now all I need is something that will get the cancer back under control.
I was unable to lose weight when I was on tamox....also nuerontin (gabopentamine) helps keep the pounds on...but just keep on trying. Like with this drug I am taking, I keep thinking, Imagine how much I would be gaining if I wasn't trying to lose.
-
Hi Marybe, don't want to put a damper but please check those snacks for their soy content since you are ER+. We can't get away from soy because it's in everything but since there are no conclusive reports yet, need to watch our intake. Sometimes those fiber bars have soy as a primary ingredient. I don't go overboard but just check where the soy is listed in the ingredients and also that it's not a soy concentrate. Just my 2 cents.
You are correct that the drugs are the culprits in being difficult to lose the lbs. QOL is also important so doing WW is helping you to keep the gain to a minimum. Congratulate yourself for that!
-
Thanks Patoo....got weighed last night and lost 1/2 lb, which I guess is better than gaining. I emailed the onco at MDA asking him what he thought about my soy intake and he does not think it is causing the huge increase in my CA27/29, however I am cutting out the obvious things like edamame, soy nuts, vegan burgers, things where soy is a main ingredient. You are right it is in everything. I started reading the labels on cereal, the fiber bars, all those great snacks I was discovering and it's there in one form or another. . I am going to try to stick to basic foods, like meat, vegetables, fruit, things without additives. So far they have not told me they are going to change my treatment which is fine with me since I am feeling good.
Anyone hear from Cake?
-
So did everyone give up? I am still doing the WW although it is getting rather discouraging since I am slowly gaining back what I lost. .6 of a pound this week. Since I am not cheating, I assume it is due to the megace. I enjoy cooking and try to come up with creative tasty food, but it's all getting rather boring. Some evenings I open all the cupboards and fridge and just stand there and stare trying to think of something I actually want to eat. Anyone else bored with healthy eating? If I was getting results I am sure it would be less boring.
-
Can't exercise much because I am still in too much pain with the arthritic joints but have lost 10ibs since I started watching my healthy food intake.Still cutting out almost all red meat.I also started popping the Acai berry caplets they are supose to help boost the metabolism. As you can see I am getting desperate to see results.
-
Hi, Guys! I'm back! It's been 2 weeks from my DIEP flap surgery...wow, it was really hard, but I got through it.
I lost 10 pounds!!!! (Hard way to lose tho!) Actually, I'm fluctuating 10-12 lbs which is even cooler.
I am trying now just to do 3 small meals and eat healthier because I have a lot of healing to do still. I cant really exercise much, so I sit on my fat butt all day. I am going to try a super short walk around 2 cul de sacs today and see if I can keep that up daily for now.
Once I'm up and around again (I here by 12 weeks), if the 3 small meal thing is not working, I am going to follow the WW plan. I have the slider and all the materials so I'll just stay accountable on this board if you all are still into it!
I'm not on Tamoxifen for one more week, so I hope I can lose weight when I go back on it. I think for me, just getting rid of the obsession of eating will be the key, so eating 3 meals again will be smart.
Mumayan--awesome about losing 10 lbs! That is a great milestone!
Marybe--I am so sorry you are having trouble losing weight! That would frustrate me so much too. It's one thing when your overeating, but when you're being good and healthy that really stinks! Patoo is so right as usual...you are definitely taking positive steps in not gaining weight too much from doing nothing.
-
Remember that we sometimes get to a point that we plateau and nothing seems to be happening. Give it time but continue to watch your intake, especially of sweets and carbs (which I believe turns into sugar in the body).
Also change up your exercise routine. If you only do one set of exercise, try something else - a Richard Simmons or FIRM DVD for instance. Walk Away the Pounds, Leslie Sansone DVD, is easy and incorporates both upper and lower exercises.
Tired of the same old foods, me too! I was alternating soup days with salad days but the weather is getting better so not sure I will keep up the soup and salads sure do get boring pretty quickly. With spring/summer comes barbecues - oh boy!
-
Cake, I am so glad your surgery went well. Tough way to lose weight, but look at it as a jump start.
The WW leader seems to think the Megace is my problem, but I could stand to add some exercise to my routine. I have a few salsa recipes that are excellent and what fat there is in them is good fat...(olives in one, avacado in the other) The problem is what to use as a dipper....a spoon is no fun.
-
Hi all! Checking in! I lost another 1/2 pound which is great because I'm really in bed most of the time. I'll take it! Waa...but I'm starting up the Tamoxifen on Thursday so I wonder if it's really going to get hard to lose weight.
Marybe how is your weight loss going?
