I have not been in your position but I know someone who has nodules in her lungs. The nodules are NOT cancer but the way they found that out was to watch them.  Since they have not changed they know it is not cancer.

I wish I could give you a better answer to help you to sleep.  I understand the issues we deal with when we have small children.  When I was diagnosed my daughters were 4, 6 and 8.  That was over 4 years ago-I never thought I would be here but here I am.

they found a nodule in my lung during a scan a few years ago. i freaked. but my oncologist explained that since i am a cancer patient...when they read these scans they identify everything they see.  there are lots of people with small nodules in their lungs seen on CT and often time,..they are just B9.  so, what my onc did was have me wait for 6-8 months and scan again...and it wasn't there,,,or hadn't changed..i can't remember. it was a false alarm. they still moniter with blood work and tumor markers..etc.

i think the hardest part of all of this is trying to not panic...getting used to having to "wait" sometimes for another 6 months...understanding they might find things are B9...and still watching out for relapse. it is a lot to do ****

if you trust your doc...keep trusing. they do this for a living...all they do is cancer....and they know what they are doing. if you don't have faith inyour onc get another one.

these are tough issues...scarey...creates anxiety....really tough. but you can do this..

    hang in there

    Alison,

I have heard of many people having b9 lung nodules.  Most people don't even know they have them.  We get scanned...so they find them.  Big hugs.....and trust your onc. :)

Hi Alison, As Carol and Diana said, it is not uncommon for scans to show nodules in the lungs that turn out to be nothing to worry about.  It stinks that it takes so long to get that reassurance.

Good sleep is important to healing.  If you find you are still having issues sleeping, there are things that the doctors can give you to help with sleep.  Ask for them if they aren't offered.  Xanax works well for me on the occasional nights that I need help and there are other medications that are more appropriate if you need them every night.

My husband had a bad cough and lung infection. The doc sent him in for scans and there were 2 nodules.  He had my hubby meet with a surgeon for a biopsy.  The surgeon looked at the scan and told us that these were not to worry over. No biopsy needed.  Most likely left over from previous lung infections or his asthma.  They would just be a baseline for any future scans to see if they changed at all.  When I had my scan I also had a nodule that did not worry my onc.  I've heard these nodules show up often on lung scans.  The reports said no evidence of mets seen.  So I don't worry about it too much now.

Hugs to you! I empathise with your terror. I have not been told I have nodules in my lungs, but then again, I have never had my lungs checked.

Having bc sucks and we all feel very worried and yes downright terrified of tests and weird results.

When I was finished chemo, it was early Dec. I had blood tests the day of my last chemo. When I got home that night, there was a message on my phone to call the oncologist. It turned out my liver enzymes were significantly elevated and I would have to have a liver ultrasound. I wasn't scheduled for the test under mid January!  My son was 7 years old at the time. It was a very scary, stressed, unsettled Christmas.

Well, it turned out to be nothing!  But I spent a very stressful time worrying.

I wish I had magic words to help you, but just remember that you are not alone in this battle, and yes, breast cancer sucks!

Come here and vent often. We understand, believe me.

My mon had a chest Xray and the paper says: there is probably a small lung nodule in the right lung and must have another tests. I'm freaking and I can't wait till Monday to call the onc. What is nodule? Is something bad? I will appreciate for any advice.

Went through the same thing before starting radiation 6 weeks ago. They did a CT scan and saw two "spots". Completely freaked me out. Turned out they were nothing, just an anomaly shared by many. Try not to worry...(stupid advice, impossible to follow)...thinking of you.

I finally called the onc. this evening - can't wait till Monday. He said to check to the previous CT scan (12/2009) had made on chest area, to find out is this "spot" was there.  Thanks God this "spot" is an old thing, it isn't something new. Maybe it is something that my mom had it before diagnosis. Thanks GOD!!!
