For those not on Facebook, the dinosaur cake. It was great fun to make! I actually attended the party...12 or so 15-17 year-olds. It was a costume party...come as your favorite video game character. My attendance was rather last-minute and spontaneous, so I didn't dress up. My granddaughter introduced me to her friends as her "awesome grandma" so they treated me as one of the gang. It was great fun. A bunch of them slept over, so not a whole lot of sleep. I'm now alternating between washing dishes left over from making the cake and catching a few minutes of rest. All worth it!
Nettie, I'm so happy that Devin has someone to touch base with. Can't wait to hear how the adventure goes!
-
You did a FABULOUS job!!!!!!!!!!! OMG Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes have nothing on you! I can tell it was fun because of the joyous amount of colour you put in. You done good!
-
Just a quick pop in.
That cake is fabulous!!! we have a wilton cake pan in the shape of a dinosaur that we actually made two facing each other and decorated one in a tux and one in a wedding dress for my sister's wedding about 20 yrs ago.
Nettie, sorry to hear that your wee kitty had to lose a leg, although better a leg than it's life.
We had an adventure on the trip to Ohio. I went with my parents to help dad with the driving. we got there about 11:45 Monday night to 6 inches of snow on the ground. Got up Tues morning and more snow falling, ended up with approx 12-14 inches. Temps stayed in the low 20's all week. winds blew and the snow drifted. I felt like I was 'driving miss daisy' - Sheila slow down, Sheila watch out there is ice /snow on the road. The funeral was a celebration of her life, the minister (his grandfather married grandma and grandpa) asked for a time of sharing of how grandma showed her favorite chapter in the Bible (1 Cor 13). We laughed and cried about things we remembered. The cemetery was an adventure, they had dug out an area for the tent next to the driveway, (the actual grave was about 20 ft away) the base for the vault sitting on the wooden palet under the tent and the chairs next to it, most people stayed in the cars as long as possible, the minister made the graveside rites as quick as possible, several cousins took some flowers and put them on grandpa's headstone and his parent's headstone. we left the cemetery and went to my uncle's church for a hot lunch of beef and noodles. I saw family I hadn't seen in years. When we came home Friday, we were 20 miles from my parent's home to find out that there was a sink hole on the main road and it took us nearly 2 hours to drive the last 20 miles due to snow in NC again and making the mtn rds dangerous.
Again, thanks for all your concern and sympathy about my grandmother.

Glad you're all home safe Sheila. Thanks for letting us know.

Amanda's BFF is visiting from Newburgh NY this week, she is loving the weather while we are freezing, they were playing with some of my hat collection. I collect weird hats, the one in the middle my Sis in Law sent from PA for XMAS it is hand made by an Amish woman
-
Sheila, what a trip! A two-hour detour! Sheesh.
Cathi, Ella continues to give us such visual joy!
Jude - love the cake. Saw your FB entry and all the angles. You really can do "cakes."
My news is that one of my resident brothers got a puppy this weekend. He actually bought it a few weeks ago but it still had to be weaned. Now that's done, and the puppy came to his new home here on Saturday. He's a yellow lab, almost white. Our last dog was that same breed and was named Vanilla, Van for short. My brother wanted to name this dog the same, but eventually saw reason and named him Vancouver, in honor of the Olympics. Van for short, lol.
I feel like a new aunt. I get the pleasure of playing with the puppy but no responsibility for his care.
-
Congrats Auntie Nancy.
-
Puppy breath!!!! I'm so jealous!

Hello guys
Glad you're home safe Shiela. God, the weather sounds awful. Spring is threatening to come here now, saw some daffodils standing loud and proud yesterday (not opened yet) Lots of snowdrops about now.
Nancy, how are you feeling now? The post op pain will be diminishing I hope? A puppy is such a joy. Will you be seeing him ofter? I would love to get a dog, have been thinking for some time about getting a rescue dog but will depend on when I go back to work, or even if .... And if the cats will allow. My big old Whisper is fine, but his "foot" is so shoogly. He gets it removed in March and is getting back to normal now (still wants to be on his own a lot though ....)
Cathi - what great pictures you take, really captures the moment. Ella looks just beautiful. I cannot believe how healthy she looks. A true wee miracle. The expression on her face looking over your head is stunning. BUT need some more pics of ubercutie Margot. And how are you?
Hoping to see Devin when he makes a flying visit to Scotland this week.
Ok loves, we (nephew and I) are off to see the Wolfman and a bit of cheap luinch. Appetitie is back (mixed blessing!!!)
Hope all of you are fabulous and thriving1

She is so cute!! I wish I had a little girl that I could dress up. there are so many cute clothes for little girls and not much choice for little boys. I have pictures of my son in a navy blue sailor outfit when he was about that size. I also have a picture of him when he was about 4 in the cotton plaid jacket, pink polo shirt, blue slacks and the woven leather sandles (era of Miami Vice). He wishes he could tear up the pictures of the plaid jacket.

Your right Shelia, I soooooooooooo much more enjoy little girls cloths, there is nice stuff for boys but now where near as fun as little dresses, hats, headbands, etc. One thing I have noticed is Bonnetts for little girls hard hard to find, both my girls wore those as babies - LOVE THEM, I did find one for Ella, but Amanda is not crazy over that look -
Hope everyone is having a good week. I have a huge DR appointment on 3/1, gonna make some "pain management" decisions. Other than that taking it a day at a time. LOVE YEAH ALL - XOXOXOXOXOXOX
-
Cathi, yes little girls are more fun to dress. My first child was a boy and I used to drift into the little girls' clothing dept. and sigh. Got my wish the second time around and had ball buying her stuff.
Still at home recovering...had a rough day yesterday just dealing with medication side effects and the cascade of other side effects they cause. I'm much better today, and if the temperature rises enough, I might attempt a walk around the neighborhood...walking the puppy is a good excuse, lol.
-
Hang in there, Nancy. It will all be worth it in the long run! I'm glad you're feeling better today.
I had just as much fun dressing Chase as I did Portia. Loved the little, athletic outfits and baseball hats. Also loved his little denim overalls. So cute!!!!!!

Oh, forgot to update you ladies on my cousin. She started chemo on Tuesday and had her Neulasta shot yesterday. She felt great yesterday, but is achy and lightheaded today. Poor thing. I hate bootface!!!!

I Hear You, Doctor:
"I clearly understand what you are saying to me and what you think will happen to me. At the same time, your prognosis is not a sentence. YOU DO NOT DICTATE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN MY LIFE. Everything you say could eventually happen, and nothing you say may happen. You are just a mortal, just like me, and your opinion is just that. An opinion. You are not my co-pilot. Only God knows what my future will be. Only I know what my body may be capable of. Only I control my spirit and my attitude. I have found strength and humor and grace from this crisis, the likes of which I hope YOU never have to endure. You are not capable of taking away my hope. So thank you for your opinion; I respect it and I may even take some of your advice. I also know that God may have a shopping cart full of miracles in store for me. That's not your decision to make; God & I will work it out together to whatever end result it will be. So thank you again; I hear you." Written by: Rebecca Wolfe
Liked this and just wanted to share

My wonderful son got me connected to the internet on his laptop at the house!!! I am having some problems getting used to the keyboard and I am still trying to figure out facebook though.
Sheila
-
Shelia once you fiqure out FB you'll like it, except they keep changing it so even those of us who have been on awhile find it a challenge at times, great way to find old friends, keep in touch with everone at one time and I espically like sharing photos, much much easier than sending a bunch of e-mails with attachments.
-
one question, how do I find all the wonderful ladies from this thread on FB?
Sheila
-
I am there! Send me a private message and I can tell you how to find me.
-
I love looking at pictures! I get so sappy! I also loved the dino cake! What talent!
-
Hey Shelia just type in someones name - do mine in the search Cathi Helm, then you have to send a friend request and you'll see all my friends and just do the same to the ones you want to BEFRIEND - Sounds tricky but not really.
-
It is hard when you don't know the last name of your friends from here though.
Sheila
-
Sheila, once you find Cathi's profile, you can see her friends, and I guarantee that you will recognize other names and pictures of people you will want to send friend requests to.
-
Sheila, FB is intimidating for a while, but worth it. You can search by names you do know or by email address, but it's easy to do as Cathi suggests. If you find one you are likely to discover many more. I'm looking forward to seeing you. One nice bennie is that they have a very easy photo upload. No need for Photobucket, etc. You can even post videos!
I got a note from Nettie this morning. Devin met her last night! How amazing to have friends from BC.org to give him a little guidance! You rock dearest Nettie!!!
-
Thanks for the encouragement. I logged at home on during lunch and requested friend status to Cathi, Nancy, Fumi, and I don't remember who else I found on Cathi's page. Cathi already responded, she commented on my photo that my son put on my page, I am standing next to his truck and the snow is coming down around me, we got 12 inches of snow that night!
-
Shelia your doing great with FB, once you are on a bit you can search for old firends or what ever, I found my very best HS friend by using the highschool friend search. I as most of us do use FB to keep in touch, pictures, chit-chat that sort of thing, I don't put much on there about my BC troubles espically the new ones as don't want the DD's to know everything at this time, but I do like FB a lot, and Judie is right soooooooooooo easy to upload pic's "EVEN A CAVE MAN CAN DO IT"
