Enjoyful/E - you have a PM from me so we don't hijack the thread with hockey talk : )
I am going to pencil the 15th in on my calendar but it's going to depend on this weekend and the snow we get too...I'll keep you guys posted as the date nears!
-
I should be in. Last Herceptin treatment so I may have to manipulate some child care but I would love to meet some of you ladies.
E~ You are right you most likely have seen me in Target and thought I was crazy. I am the one lecturing two blonde haired kids about we will not touch, whine or do anything else or I WILL make you sorry. I sound like a loon but I am not and normally my kids laugh at me.
-
Good morning - I am so happy that everyone is going to be able to come out for our GNO!!! Hope everyone is ready for this weekends weather which from what the weather folks say might be wicked. 6-12" ??? Love it - of course, let's be honest, our weather is only what it is when you are looking out your door - we probably will get missed again!
I went to weather.com and checked the weather for the 15th and they are saying right now that the high will be 47 so looks like no chance of snow!Really looking forward to meeting everyone then!
On a different note, I do have a question - did/have any of you get bruises that you did not know how you got and that did not go away? Thanks,
-
Question - what do you ladies think of the idea of name tags for our meeting? with our "real" names and our sign-on names from this website underneath? Or does that sound silly? I thought it just might make us all a little easier to keep track of.
I'm going to Staples for other things- would be glad to pick them up if you think it is a good idea.
-
I think it would be great and if you wouldn't mind picking them up that would be terrific. I can bring pens and any other stuff we might need that anyone can think of since I am closer by.
-
So is everyone surviving the lovely snow storm ??
I will be at our meeting.. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
-
It's ridiculous! I can't even get to Target! ;-)
-
This snow is ridiculous...at this rate the kids are going to be in school all of June!
-
enjoyful~ Then how am I going to meet you in Target then ???
Nikki~ No kidding but they are talking about if the MD department of education approves it not counting these days towards the 180 days they needed. So it would be like they were there.
Are we ready for round 2 ??? Thanks to our neighbors we are ready. I looked outside my front door and we had 2 snowblowers going and another neighbor cleaned off my steps. I couldn't thank them enough. I am less than 2 weeks out of flap surgery and most of them know that I am the one who normally likes to do the cleaning off of things. My poor DH is in charge of the state highway e-mail and was working all day.

Hi all, just saw this. I'm in Bowie, and Baltimore is a hop, skip and a jump for me. I'm attending a quiltmaking retreat this coming weekend, but it ends monday the 15th anytime from morning until mid afternoon. I'll plan to come straight to Baltimore from the retreat, unless weather or fatigue stop me. Is it a casual or dressy place? I'm not sure if I have anything but jeans and such at this point. I've been REALLY casual since my treatments!!!
Looking forward to meeting y'all!
-
Hi - hope everyone weathered the weekend and is ready for what is coming tomorrow and Wednesday. I love the snow, but even I am ready for Spring now -
Really looking forward to seeing everyone next Monday - For Gryffin Song, the place is very casual - jeans are perfect. My son and I went there for dinner on Thursday and it was wonderful. The food was great and the staff was really fun. They are looking forward to us coming! Please everyone, pass along the invite as the more the merrier!
Hope everyone stays safe and warm this week!
-
This snow is crazy and I am going through Target withdrawal.. The National Weather Service is predicting 10-20" more starting tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully I am leaving tomorrow at noon for a relatively snow-free place: MONTREAL.
Looking forward to meeting everyone next Monday!!

This snow is so depressing; my brother stayed with me to help dig me out. Only 1 neighbor came over to offer to help and that was after it was all done. Another neighbor had a person with a bobcat dig out his driveway and they moved most of it in front of my house. I ran out like a crazy woman and told him to stop and to put the snow in their yard not mine. I live in a neighborhood where all the men dig each other out, I'm single and live alone, and if it weren't for my family, I wouldn't be out until the spring thaw.
-
Hey there cancersuks - I was where you are last February but i also had 2 cracked ribs. Hang in there - I know that it is frustrating (I cleaned that up for this post) - I also was surprised that teenagers werent knocking on doors asking to shovel - when did they stop doing that? Clearly I just aged myself.....I remember being out there trying to shovel my driveway and seeing men dig each other out directly across my street and never even looking in my direction. Cads! Chivalry is dead I do believe.
But for today, and for what is apparently barreling down toward us in the next 36 hours, try to relax with a cup of tea (add a little something if that helps) and remember that even all this snow cant last forever. You can only do what you can do and let the rest go.
You are a strong and fabulous woman! And nuts to your neighbors.
A thought however, I dont know where you live, but when the snow is done, is there a resource in your county that could help? I have heard that for people with illnesses that cannot clear their driveways etc, that some help might be available. It might not be immediately like it would be if you were doing it yourself, but it might be there. Especially if you have to get out to go to treatments, etc. Just a thought.
In the meantime, stay strong, stay positive and know that you are being thought of.

I am ready for another round here in Calvert Co! We had an outside, sledding, Super Bowl party on Sunday
have fun at the game E!
Jaimieh, how will we know if they don't count this snow days against our 180? That would be fantastic! I have heard rumors that they will take away spring break to make up for this week.
gryffinsong, I was in Bowie yesterday and it was a HOT MESS out on Rt.301 - took me 45 minutes to get both in AND out of the Target parking lot
cancersucks, I'm sorry you don't have thoughtful neighbors
My husband has been out plowing all week and is getting ready to go back out again tonight...fun, fun!
-
1bmore and Nikna0320,
Thank you so much for the kind words, they really cheered me up! 1bmore, you're right chivalry is dead, I was born in the wrong century! My brother couldn't believe all the men just doing each other's driveways. I've always been independent and this cancer thing so cramps my style. Thank you again, it's hard not to be down on myself when I see neighbors reacting to me so...you made me feel good today.
-
Wow cancersuks I am sorry that you neighbors are holes (and yes I use that word rather than worse words). If I lived closer I would have my DH dig you out
Nikki~ The board is going to vote on it once they get back to work. Our schools are out for the rest of the week and the kids are off on Monday. It's going to be a LONG, LONG week.... If they take away spring break I really do not care because I will be taking my daughter to Florida anyhow. I dare the board to bring up why my daughter was out of school, I iwll gladly pull the C card as my DH would say.
I am going steer crazy being in the house and there is not much that I can do. I still having lifting restrictions and 2 drains so not much I can do....
I can't wait to meet everyone next week. I just realized that my child care will be easily taken care of since the kids are off of school....whooo...
-
Jaimieh,
Thank you
I went to the post office today and they said if my mail box is not accessible, they won't deliver my mail. I went home and dug out my mailbox, the plows didn't clear deep enough in front of my house to get to the mailbox. I put on my fentanyl patch and so far so good no back pains yet. I'm going crazy too being in the house, I feel like a caged animal. I can't wait for next Monday too!
-
I am also excited about meeting everyone next week. I am going stir crazy in the house as well. Will this ever end. Its Wednesday afternoon and still snowing. UGHHHHHH
-
Irishmom - I sent you a PM.
Amy
-
I am really looking forward to next Monday
I told my DH I do not care what he does we need to get out of the house this weekend. I am going to go to my herceptin appt. on Monday and then fart around until we all meet up.
I did hear on the news today that there could possible be more snow next Monday....g.rrrr..... enough... and I like snow.
-
News from north of the border -
My sister and I are in Montreal and there is NO SNOW to speak of here! Something's wrong with the world.
Can't wait to get home Sunday and shovel. Ugh.

Yeah, I've heard that they're going to have 50 degree weather for five days in a row up where they're holding the winter olympics. That's going to make for some sad conditions.
As to the dinner, I've gone from definately yes to maybe. My truck is having troubles, and I'm going away all weekend. So I won't be able to figure out the problem in time. I might be able to borrow my mom's car, but it's only a maybe. My brother's coming to visit next week, and he's offered to look at it for me. Hopefully it's something simple, but I think I need a new alternator, and he's advised me not to drive it.
-
i am from baltimore as well, live in mt washington.
-
So is everyone still planning on coming ???
-
I am!
-
I am wondering about the weather, I will wait and see what the 11:00 news is saying, we have been getting such mixed reports all day. Also does anyone know how the parking is down there. THanks and hope to see you all tomorrow evening. Kathy
-
I hope we are still on for tomorrow! Did we ever decide on a time?
As for the weather, it's supposed to start late tomorrow evening. SO, if we do this earlier in the evening, let's say 4pm-ish or even 3pm-ish, we should be able to enjoy dinner and still get folks home safely before any weather moves in.
With tomorrow being a federal holiday, we could even do it earlier if most people are not working.
Can't wait to meet everyone!
