I heard that -I wont even take it while on chemo. I do take an occasional xanax though I wonder if thats ok.

And we are looking at those old stats - think about how many of those folk were on tamox (since there was nothing else) WITH an antidepressant. Knowledge is power.

Read that in the paper this am...there are probably many women who are on antidepressants & tamox !!!

Hi all - I met with my oncologist for the first time yesterday and one of the first things she said was that I would have to switch anti-depressants before starting Tamoxifin. She said that studies have proven that they interact with each other. She recommended Effexor. I have an appt with my regular doctor to discuss switching - have been on Paxil for about 5 years, switching isn't that easy. Will keep you posted.

hi,

my onco recommended effexor. it does not interfere with tamoxifen.

I take Effexor for the hot flashes in very low dose.
