This is confusing

My oncologist told me I could have an oomph after I resumed 2 periods. I thought periods equalled estrogen. Why would she want that?

Maybe s/he doesn't think you need to do it if you are already menopausal..??

an oompherectomy (?sp) removes the organ that produces estrogen.. Many cancers are estrogen driven.

Just guessing -

Chemo does induce menopause in some women - sometimes it is temporary. Maybe she feels there is no point to doing ooph until (if) your periods come back?

Perhaps she's using the occurrence of your periods as a measure that things are "back to normal" after the chemo, and that your blood counts are back up, etc. and that indicates that you are healthy enough to have the surgery.
