ONE YEAR with no active treatment!
One year ago today I had my last radiation treatment.
When I was diagnosed I rushed and pushed my docs to get everything done as quickly as possible. Honestly at the time I was worried about how much time I had left and wanted to get it all over with as quickly as possible. Had surgery on 7/11, started chemo a month later on 8/13, finished on 11/19, had total hysterectomy, port out and implant swap (all at once) on 12/9 and started radiation less than 3 weeks later.
So I am a year out of active treatment. Woke up this am and my hair is an absolute mess and in my eyes (so glad to have that to complain about) and my biggest complaint of the day is that I ate too much sushi last night and the scale is up! Pretty freaking normal, huh?
Heres to another 39 years and my husband and I dying holding hands while water skiing on our 60th wedding anniverary!

Hi Mary.....
Major congrats. I am expecting to be living a normal life as well. Hopefully as soon as six months from now. I think I am done with surgery other than getting the port out which I doubt will be a big deal.
Jealous about the sushi. While not quite up there with wine as to things I miss, I do miss it. Miss being able to eat fresh oysters too.
I am feeling absolutely normal today and my weight is back down! Will be good news as I found a great pair of dress trousers for cheap at the resale shop last night. Very high end, and $25. Brand new too w/o tags. The ones I were wearing at the beginning of treatment are now baggy.
Am going for a bicycle ride with a neighbor in a couple of hours. The sun is out!!!!
So life is good.

I went to the Y this afternoon and swam 3/4 mile and ran 1/2 mile and did some abs. Odd thing happened - I gulped down a mouthful of vitamins with an FRS energy drink (natural) on my way out the door and about half way through the swim I started to feel sick. I pushed through but it was just like AC - vaguely nauseous, a little dizzy and wiped out. Hmmm - didnt need that little flashback today :-O!!!
Anyway - I came home and had something to eat and am going to take a nap before we go out to dinner with friends - sorry,cancer, you are not invited!

Vitamins + energy drink makes me a queasy just thinking about it
I have done things like this during major rides and paid the price over several miles. I try to remember to treat my body better than that.I did the most wonderful ride with one of my neighbors today. Wore her out, but I am feeling just great. The most brilliant sunshine and glorious views everywhere. On top of this, I had most of my energy back. YAY!!!!!
I am headed to the supermarket later, as they have a sale on Gulf Prawns. Not quite sure yet how I want to prepare them. Thinking a curry sauce served on basamati rice. Major yum.
