Holly- I have been thinking and praying about you, I will keep my thoughts around you for tomorrow that it all goes well. Glad you got things in order that always helps my well-being!

Patty- Thanks I left a message at my oncs office today, who knows? They are tricky aren't they? I will let you know if they change anything. Hope you are feeling well!!

BarbT- I am so sorry! I hope you get through your last one and feel better soon. I don't know if your rash itches like my hands, but I put some poison ivy stuff on them last night and i could sleep better. Hope you are right as rain soon!

Jane- Ugh, so sorry about the roads. I had a  feeling your rads guy would want you to come in early the day of departure, and ideally come in late the day of return. Tha't's what they did to the guy in my rads time slot. Hope things are thawing out for you.

Susan- we have a thaw coming, 36 by the end of the week! Hope you have one too. Keeping you B9 phone call in my prayers.

Melinda- I am with Holly I am jealous of your hair too, it is lovely!

Number 8 tomorrow morning! Maybe they'll lower the dose for the tingling. One can only hope!Innocent

Hugs to all you wonderful ladies.

Barbara - You've done so well so far....I hope they can lower your dose for the tingling.   I kind of held my breath during the last weeks of Taxol,  hoping to get through without any really bad SEs.   I got through fine but it is definitely cummulative.  Good luck on #8...you are almost done!

Holly and Barbara....a big sister hug to you both.....countdown has begun!  Hang in there!

Vicki....I have those days too...they will pass, but I know I will never forget what we've been through together.  I think our mind puts those days in to help us enjoy the good days to a higher degree....look at it for the truth...we all still have the fear of cancer because we know it can happen to us.....but we also know how strong we are now......our world has been altered....my world is better now.... I am so much more aware of how to live it.....

Big hugs to all my sisters!

    Melinda

PS ....I swear...I have quarter inch bangs now!Wink

Hello SOSisters...  Monday and cold here in NC but the ice is melting!

Susan - congratulations on losing weight!  You can be my motivation, I don't seem to have any!  I have to do 1st Aid/CPR on the 10th.  Did the phone ring today?  I know you are on pins and needles.  Let us know as soon as your hear.  We are all sending you positive B9 vibes!

Barb0323 - sent you a PM.  Hang in there!  Only 10 more days to go till last txt.  How did you appt go with the PS?  Is your rash any better?

ChinaBlue - I'm trying the imagary thing.  I am imagining a warm beautiful beach with a great spa and a wonderful massage.  Only problem is the phone rings, someone talks and my image turns into everyday life.   We need a reunion!  Yes, I'm still working on it.

Holly - Will be praying for you tomorrow,  You won't be dehydrated, they will give you saline solution.  I'm sure you will do great.  Let us know how you made out as soon as you feel up to posting.

BarbAnne41 - hope you are feeling better and your rash is better.  Yes, the roads are thawing but we are suppose to get rain tonight and it's going to freeze again.  How did your txt go today?  You are getting so close to being finished!

Patty - hope you are doing well.  Don't you want to move east and enjoy our lovely weather?

Melinda - I'm jealous, I want bangs!  However, I am happy to report that my white hair is getting some color in it.  Not sure what color it is, but it isn't white!  Glad you are doing well with radiation, I'm going to follow your lead!

To everyone who hasn't posted lately, hope you are just busy feeling good and enjoying life!  Take care.

Thoughts and prayers are with you!

what's the saying ....the grass is always greener......on the other side... Kiss

I was so hoping for curls!

    Hello ladies,

I have missed you the last few days.  I've just been trying to keep busy.  Waiting is so hard!  I haven't heard anything yet, but I will let you know as soon as I do.  The plastic surgeon who did the biopsy is out of the country for the whole month of February, doing cleft palate repairs in Africa.  The Onc was out of the country in January, and just got back yesterday, so I may be lost in the shuffle for a few days while they figure themselves out.  I hope that no news is good news!

Melinda, it is good to hear that I am not the only one who is coming back straight.  I had a fair amount of curl/body before, but so far the new growth is straight.  My salt and pepper pattern seems to be holding, which is nice because I was fond of my old hair.  I agree with you, I am better now than I was before!  I see the world in a different and better way.

Jane, I would so love to be able to vacation with you all!!!!!  I mean we have all been through so much and we would have such a great time enjoying some rest and relaxation in a sunny spot.

Patty, how are you feeling?  I hope all is well for you.  It sounds like your hair is coming right along.  I found an old picture of myself last night, and I want that exact hair and weight again.  I think if I work hard, and my hair cooperates I might achieve that within the year.  Something to look forward to anyway.

Barbara, it is positively balmy hear today.  High near 50.  I decided to even go sockless, and wear fashionable shoes for a change.  Of course my feet were cold on the way to work.  When I get home this afternoon I will bundle up in warm socks and sweats, but I look cute right now.

Holly, (((((((((gentle Hugs)))))))), I woke up thinking about you today.  I am sending you the best vibes I can!!!!!

To all of my other sisters, I am sending you love and well wishes wherever you may be today!!!!!!

    Best,

    Susan

    Good Afternoon Ladies!!

Eight down and 4 to go yee haw!! They lowered my does 25%. So We will see if that does it. Hopefully so. Now if I could get one of those Elizabethan collars for my hands so I quite digging at them I would be all set!! My post chemo eating binge has begun, wow I always want to just eat and eat when I get home form Taxol txs.

Susan- Love the new photo. you look marvelous. Fifty is balmy, enjoy. I have been walking around with no socks on quite a bit because it seems to negate the tingling/numbness. Of course I put them on to leave the house, but it is fun while it lasts. Yes I agree, hair and weight wise I want to be back to my old self, and I know you will get there too! Hugs. Waiting for that B9 phone call!

Holly- I am thinking of you and hope you have a easy recovery.

Melinda- Bangs, wow isn't it amazing what we covet when we don't have it! Thanks for the hugs.

Patty- Yes it does have a cumulative effect, no matter what anyone says. Thanks for the well wishes. How are you feeling? I know you are not yet a week out, but just wondering. Hope you are well.

Jane- Sorry about the slick roads, warmer weather must be on the way because we are suppose to get to around 36 by the end of the week, and being that you all are south of us maybe you will be warmer. That's just my "professional" opinion! Tongue outHope you are well.

Love and hugs to all my sisters.

    hi everyone,

just back from a few days away with my family; we went on our mini summer holiday on the weekend for 4 days. It was a lovely time away, I even went for a swim (first time in 5 months). Really enjoyed it, great to be away for a while.

Will catch up on all the posts and write more later.

    Good Morning Ladies,

Chinablue, I am no help, I didn't have any nose bleeds.  I hope that they will stop very soon for you!!!!  Sending you very good vibes.

Neece, so glad that you were able to get away and have a holiday!  I hope you are feeling well, and having a great week.

Barbara, thank you  for your kind words.  I am still waiting for results.  I am going to call tomorrow if I don't hear today.  I think that since the Dr that ordered the test is gone for the month that my results may be lost in someones inbox.  Any way if I don't hear anything today I will call the oncs office.  I have Kaiser so they are all interconnected anyway.  I hope you are feeling well.

Okay my SOSisters, I have to get some work done today, so I will be doing my best to be a good employee, but I'd rather be having tea with all of you.

    Love,

    Susan

    Good evening ladies,

Barbara, Susan, Jane, Melinda and to all others; thank you for your support and prayers.

Neece - I am so glad that you were able to get away and have some fun.

Just a short note to let you know that I am home and doing okay. I am sore and stiff, but don't have any severe pains. I have been taking one oxycodone every 4 to 6 hours and it keeps the majority of the pain away. My surgery was scheduled for 11:30, but didn't get in until 1:00 or so. They took all the bandages off before leaving, so all I have are steristrips. It doesn't look too bad. Will write more when I am not feeling so tired.

Hello SOSisters... sunshine and warmer in NC!  Yeah.  Have Herceptin txt tomorrow, didn't feel so perky today, one of the ladies I went to chemo with passed away.  3 years older than me and so positive!  She had bone cancer in addition to breast cancer, the bone cancer had completely disappeared!

Melinda - glad you are doing well.  I am jealous of your hair!  While I have very short hair all over my head, seems like the front is growing in the slowest.  How is the radiation going, how many left to go?  I hope our journey thru radiation is just like yours!

Susan - love your new picture!  Look at all that hair.  I am so sorry you are having to wait so long for an answer, I'd be on the phone hounding somebody to give me an answer.  Patience is not one of my strong suits.  I'm working on finding us a place to vacation with a sponsor.  We are going to need a lot of prayers and positive thoughts, most foundations will only sponsor non-profits and I sent a lot of letters that haven't gotten any response at all.  I don't want to have a virtual vacation!

Holly - thinking about you and hoping you are doing well today!

BarbAnne41 - I liked your professional forecast for us, however, we are due to have another storm with ice and rain this weekend.  It was 49 here today.  4 to go, you really are counting down.  How is the rash?  There is nothing wrong with an eating binge, it means you have taste buds!  Says the person who has started her 2nd diet this week :).

Neece - wow, a vacation.  Sounds great.  When do you start your new job?  How are you feeling?  Do you think your energy level has improved?  Look forward to hearing from you when you rest up from your vacation.

ChinaBlue - when I was doing chemo I always had nosebleeds the week after.  As soon as I got through my last chemo, complete with nosebleed the week after, the nosebleeds stopped.  I still have drippy nose and hope that will go away when my nosehairs grow back!

Everyone take care, those not posting hope you are doing well and no side effects!

Thoughts and prayers are with you!

Holly - I am so glad everything went well with your surgery.   If the incision looks okay now, it will only get better and better!

Barbara - Hooray for the dose reduction!   I got a 20% reduction on week #6 (maybe 5) and it really helped with the numbness that was starting.  I hope your rash goes away.   At 36 degrees...are you sure it isn't chillblains?  HA.  Brrrrr.

Susan - Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for your test results.   Gosh you have lots of hair!

Jane - I am so sorry to hear about your chemo friend.   With all the support and positive people we deal with during treatment it is always sobering when one is reminded that BC can be deadly.  Thanks for your diligence in your hunt for a reunion sponsor!  Have you tried Claritin for your drippy nose?   I've had runny eyes and nose every morning for months but it clears right up after I pop the Claritin my Onc recommended.

Melinda - My hair isn't living up to my wishes either!  I was hoping for straight...but the longer it gets the wavier it gets.   Color...not so great.  The only good thing (besides just the fact it is hair!) is that appears to be coming back just as thick as it was before it left.  We shall see, huh?

China - I can't help on the nosebleeds either.   I hope they go away really soon.

Neece - Hooray for vacations!   I'd take one myself but I happen to live in about the warmest place in the US right now so I think I'll stick around here until spring.

I'm now 6 days post final treatment and feeling fine.   My trainer was here this afternoon and for the first time in 24-weeks I didn't get to plead for mercy because of chemo.  Drat...I need to come up with another excuse.

Hope you cold weather ladies get a break soon!

    hi again ladies

Holly I am sending you healing thoughts, please feel better soon.

China my nose bleeds (constant mild bleeds every time I blew my nose which was OFTEN as I had constantly runny nose during chemo) have now stopped - they disappeared about 4 weeks after last tx. My nose is less drippy now too.

Susan what a fabulous new pic! Lucky you with hair. Please let us know as soon as oyu get test results.

Jane, hi, I go back to work on 15th. Looking forward to it (I think) despite some anxiety about my ability to maintain the pace - it is a very demanding job and I  will be starting in a new college for me... but it will be good to be back out in the world again. My energy is picking up,just not as much stamina as I used to have, I guess it comes back over time. I had my first swim at the local pool today and managed to comfortably swim 13 X 50 metre laps - my normal quota used to be 20 laps but I was pretty happy with that today. Felt great!!!

I am now booked int ohave my reconstructive surgery done on March 25th. Looking forward to my new 'foobs'. The surgeon is going to replace my 'old' implant (the one from my first bc in 2002) with a new implant that will match the one he is putting in for this bc this time. So I hope to get a matched set !  More surgery and hospital stay but at least this one is positive.

The diappointing news for me yesterday was seeing the lymphadema therapist I had seen before and being told that my arm swelling and fluid was greatly increased. I was shocked but at the same time I had felt it was worse so at least my suspicions were confirmed. On Sat I am starting a bandaging and lymphatic drainage regimen - I have to wear bandages 24 hrs day for 2 - 4 weeks. Not great timing - on my arrival at my new college not only will I be the crazy bald lady in the hat but also have a "Michelin woman" arm as well. Sigh. However I will do it because I REALLY don't want the lymphedema to get worse. Seems like it will be soemthing I have to manage for the rest of my life.

Love to all and a lovely weekend.

    Hello Everyone

I have been catching up with all the posts. I have busy with work and the kids. It seems like everyone is moving on one day at a time. I have a follow up appt with my onc today and it is just a check up. My hair is coming in pretty good but the color is terrible. I thought I wanted hair at any color but now I'm not so sure. Anyone know how soon we can dye it? Take care and I'll check in again soon.

Hello All of my Beautiful Friends,

I received a call, FINALLY, from the oncs office, and all is fine!!!!!!!!   It is fat necrosis, and it should resolve on it's own.  She said it could pop up in another place at some time in the future, but just to be vigilant about checking.  I just have to learn not to be so neurotic.  It is just hard to be thrown back into a negative mind set.  I guess I know what I have to work on.  Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and prayers, it really helped.

I am at work so I don't have time to post to each of you just now, but I will come back later to get caught up.

    I love you all!

Holly - So glad you're doing well - I didn't take any chances with the pain, I took 2 pain pills every 4 hours!!  I'm amazed at how those babies work!!  I'm actually taking them when I get fills now for a couple days - guess I'm a whimp!!

    Susan - Excellent news!

Didit - I agree with China, you are not a whimp.  Everyone told me that it is best to stay ahead of the pain, the nausea, and other SEs because once they take hold they can be hard to control.  I say hooray for pharmacueticals!

Neece - Good job on the laps.  I need to get going on some swimming of my own.  At least we don't have to spend a lot of time on the hair after being in the pool. HA!   You present a very funny image of yourself showing up at your new job.   I'm sure they will love you!

Catherine - I hear you on the hair color.  Mine is really drab and ugly.  Like Scooby, I've also heard we should wait six months to mess with it.  Maybe we'll learn to love it in the meantime?  Hmm...

Hello SOSisters... well went for my Herceptin txt today and am bummed out.  I think I mentioned last night or night before one of my chemo buddies had died.  Today I found out another passed away last week!  They were both wonderful ladies, one had bone cancer also, although her scans were clear.  The other had breast cancer.  Just a grim reminder that we have to be vigilant and really take care of ourselves.

Holly - so glad you had a successful surgery.  You take it easy and rest.  Will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery!

Susan - YEAH!!!!  While we all knew it would be okay, it's certainly better when you get the official results.  Know you are relieved.

Patty - wow, a trainer.  If I had a trainer, he/she would fire me!  I did create quite a dust storm when I turned the treadmill on this past week.  I just poked along, building up my endurance and enjoying my tunes!  My hair is coming in pretty good but is wavy and there are some grays now mixed in with the white.  I rather have all white then gray/white. I haven't tried the Claritin, I'll give it a try.

Neece - I'm sure you will be great at your new job.  Sorry you are going to have to wear the bandage.  As far as the hat and arm use it as a learning experience.  Never have ask what you teach.  Glad to hear your energy is returning and you are up to exercising.  Seems like most of us are more positive as time goes by.  Know you are excited about your surgery.

Catherine - as everyone has posted apparently it is 6 months for hair color.  I don't think I want to walk around with white/gray hair so will probably continue to wear my wig, hats, scarves until I can get back to my "true" hair color out of the bottle!  My hairdresser told me don't worry about losing your hair, I have your color formula written down!  How did you make out at the doctor's?

Scobbydo - how are you doing?  Haven't heard from you lately?  Have you started radiation?

DiDiT- how are you doing?  Have you started radiation yet?  Let us know how you are doing?  Nobody on this website is a wimp!  We are a bunch of tough ladies!

Well everyone, hope you are well.  Missing some of you (you know who you are.  :)  Take care.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Good evening ladies,

Susan - That is great news; what a great relief.

DiDit - You are not a wimp; I agree with Chinablue, whatever we need to get through this is fine.

Neece - Wow, I am impressed that you swam for so long.  I think I am going to get a treadmill and start exercising once I am healed.

Catherine - I have heard 6 months, also; but I have heard 3 months, too.  I wonder who we ask to get a definitive answer?

Thank you all for your support and encouraging words.  I greatly appreciate it.  You are all in my prayers.  Have a great weekend.

    Good Evening Ladies,

Holly, I am so glad to see you posting.  I knew you would do great!!!!  It is good advice to stay ahead of the pain.  You will be feeling better before you know it.

Jane, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your buddies.  It is a sobering reminder that we are dealing with something that requires us to be vigilant.  I am glad that your Herceptin tx went well.  You are an amazing lady, I love reading your posts.

Patty, how are you my dear?  I hope all is well with you and you are happy and good.

Chinablue, I agree no one here is a wimp.  We have all faced some real issues in our lives, and coping is hard.  There is no reason to be in physical or emotional pain, but sometimes it is hard to figure out how to fix the problem.  All of you have been a huge part of my coping mechanism, but I admit to taking an Ativan now and then.  I bet a year from now we will be feeling a whole lot better.

Didit, just like I said above, you are not a wimp.  I think fills sound really painful, and I am sure I would be the first one to take pain meds in the face of them.  When is your exchange?

Catherine, I hope all is well with you!

Neece, I am glad that you are able to swim, it is such great exercise.  I have found myself wanting to go swimming often lately, I need to "just do it" as they say.  Good luck with the new job.  I don't think anyone will think you are the crazy lady with hats, and an arm that is bandaged.  I think they will see you for the beautiful warrior that you are!! Blessings on you my dear.

Vickilynn, Pamela, Barbara, Melinda, and everyone else out there my thoughts and prayers are with you, and I am here for you.  Thank you all for helping me through this phase of the journey, I love you in a way that no one who hasn't been on a journey like this could possibly understand.

    Much Love and Many Hugs,

    Susan

    Good Morning

Everything went well with then onc. He said I don't have to see him for 3 months. He said about 6 months for hair color but said I could use a henna color because there are no harsh chemicals. I don't know if I'll try that or not. I did ask him about tumor markers because it never came up and I hear differnt opinions about them. He said everytime I see him he does CEA and CA27:29 he does rely on them alone but believes they are useful. He is one of the best onc's around so I'll go with what he says.

Take care and all of us east coast sisters try to stay indoors this weekend. I really don't like snow it is just to much work.

    THINK POSITIVE

    Catherine
