I was diagnosed in Sep 2007 by mammogram. Had treatment.....but had a mastectomy. I had a mammogram on my "healthy" breast in Oct 2008. So 1 year later.

    Hi, hopeinfitcher:

I was also diagnosed in 2007: had a lumpectomy, chemo, radiation. Have been on Arimidex since April, 2008...

First mammo on affected breast was six months after we finished radiation..

We do the affected breast every six months now, and the healthy breast annually..

    hope this helps!

    Hi hopinfitcher

I was d/x January 2009, mastecomy, chemo, rads, Zoladex, and Femara for the past 6 months.

I had  my first mammo since d/x a year later.  I was scared!  But it all was ok!

    Hi again, Hopeinfitcher:

    (I love your screen name!)

don't know if the scan means you don't need the mammo...I suspect they are not connected.

My rads oncologist told me that the standard is NOT to mammo a radiated breast until six months after its last treatment.  On April 1 I will be two years out from my last rad, having my fourth mammo on the operating/radiated breast this February 22.  It was a little tender at first (scar tissue, not radiation burns by then), but gets progressively easier.  Your technician will be aware and I am sure will take extra pains with the test...mine does.

    good luck

Hope ~ I am going for my anual mam next week.  I'm one year out from diagnosis and treatment.

    I'm also on Arimidex.
