I am coming for some weight loss comradarie. I have gained 50 since BC and want it off by the end of 2010.

So, today I went grocery shoping and I am looking at the new WII Fit, but just keeping my mouth shut at night will be a huge hurdle to jump, I seem to always be hungry at night, probably because I am bored and the gabapentin I take makes a person hungry too.

I have a receipe to share from the old WW day's, but it is pretty good and warms you up on a cold day.

    1 can of black beans

1 can of red kidney beans (don't rinse the beans)

1 can of diced tomatoes (if you like spicey add Rotel) Sp??

    1 can of corn

1 package of turkey (brown it and add salt and pepper)

Mix and add a can of Tomato Juice or V8

    1 cup = 1 point

Omahagirl.....your recipe sounds just right for this kind of weather. Veggie soup also.   I am doing WW now and find that there is so much you are able to eat.  I gained weight when I was on gabapentin (neurontin, right?) but it helps for sure with neuropathy.  Did you know you can get WW recipes on line.  Popcorn is a great night time snack and now they let you count diet soda, tea, coffee, whatever as your liquid, not just H2O.

Omahagirl I make the same recipe as you only I spice it up by adding lots of garlic.chopped onions and a chopped halopeno pepper.

Ladies, I made vegetarian stuffed peppers last night and they were yummy, didn't even miss the meat!  I'm not going all vegetarian but trying to cut back on some things now and then.  I thought about starting my aerobics today but have to go for an MRI tomorrow and don't want to chance being sore since I have to have arms over head.  That in itself should be interesting since I just started stretching not long ago from surgery!

I got on the scale this morning and I guess it's good that I haven't gained but I still haven't lost for a bit.  Gets a little discouraging but I need to keep this up, maybe I'm just at a plateau for the moment!  Keeping positive thoughts!!!!

It's raining and ugly out today but I may just grab my umbrella and go for a walk!  Take care ladies and have a great day.

I am chomping at the bit to get back to exercising at least a little, I walk the treadmill or do a video that has you walk a mile in 10 minutes, I do it with a couple of ladies at work.. but am out of commission for a couple of weeks due to an excisional biopsy. I am doing my best not to gain another pound during this sedentary time. Later this month they will be doing WW at work again and I will join. I will confess I have 50 to 60 lbs to loose so I wanted to do the lap band but my insurance said no even though it would help me decrease the chances of a reoccurance. I hate hard work (:

Omahagirl--I'm there with you...have a good 60 pounds to lose.  Been exercising but not eating so hot...well, I did do South Beach for a day and a half which is a record.

I think I need to take a different approach...maybe just 3 small meals a day...no counting, no protein counting...just give up the bad snacking and stuff.  UGH.

I agree patoo!  Why is it every scale will weigh you differently anyway?  I wouldn't think this would be rocket science, but maybe it is! lol

Actually I've decided that I am losing but I can't see it because for every pound I lose Arimidex puts one back on.  So, I'm breaking even.

Hed 3 month med onc check today (NED) and the scale stayed the same as it was 3 months ago.  Now, my scale went down in that time so what's up with that?  Oh, wait, I was too lazy to take off my boots so I should be able to deduct, at the least, 16 lbs!  Wink

Turning in early - everyone have a good night.

Oh, BTW, anyone in central NJ area there will be a free 12-week aquatic program at the Y for BC survivors.  PM me for details.

I refuse to be weighed at the Dr's office , the visit is scary enough!  I am on to a new track and I lost 2-3 lbs in a week Yah Hoo.. I am eating Greek Yogurt with Bare Fit no fat granola and berries every morning and then a sandwich of those little 100 calorie sandwich rounds and a pickle for lunch and then something good for dinner..less coffee and more water. Now if the exercise fairy could just come and wave her wand and without effort I would have exercised LOL

How have you all been doing this week? I hope I can stick to healthy eating this weekend. I bought Goats Milk Ice Cream at Whole foods for a treat and it is divine, very little fat and a little bit really fills you up.

Going to onc on Tues for MRI results and follow up blood work.  Not looking forward to see what her scale says!   I've been keeping up with the eating right and walking but my scale hasn't budged for a couple of weeks now.  I still haven't started up the aerobics, need to do that this week for sure!

I hope all my northeastern and midwest ladies are taking it easy from the big storm.  My parents in Ohio got 18 inches the other day!  Even though the pictures are pretty, I don't want to be there!  We just got a lot of rain here.  Wondering where the sun has been hiding though.  Hopefully it will come out soon.Cool

Patoo- did you ever get a snow blower?  Keep warm!  Gald you're still NED.

Take care ladies, I have to get ready for work.

Hi Kelley, no, never got the snow blower.  Procrastination is a big part of my life.  But shoveling yesterday, I weighed before and after and lost a pound!  Hmmmmmm, if it were heavy snow may have lost more!  But I think the fact that I've been exercising 6 days a week has helped with my ability to shovel.  Unfortunately they are predicting more for Tues/Weds.  If so, hopefully it will also be light and flaky.

    Keep at it ladies.

BTW, Kelley, I said it before and I'll say it again - I've never found a doctor's scale that I trusted.  They are all in cahoots to make us feel fat.  It's a secret language programmed in by the manufacturers.  I think we need to ask Congress to pass a federal law making them all illegal!

Hi, all!  I weighed myself and...no change... *sigh!!!*  I give up on losing those 20 pounds before surgery.  What a joke!  Surgery is March 4.  waaaaaa.

Cake, don't worry about losing, but exercise to strengthen yourself.  It's much more important to be able to withstand the shock to your body from surgery.  Less weight is not as important as being in shape.  Don't beat up on yourself and you may just find that if you don't focus so much on losing that you may just drop a few without trying.

patoo, you are an angel!  You always have great encouragement that helps.  That's what I'm going to do...continue to exercise and get strong.  I'm just going to stick to 3 meals a day with no snacking.  I wish I could be all these trooper gals who actually STICK to diets, but youre right, focusing on it always seems to make it worse for me, LOL!

I am going to use the 5 day surgery as a help in eating less...and then my always thin m-i-l will be staying with us at the house for another 5-7 days to help, so I dont want to eat like a pig in front of her, LOL.  Maybe my stomach will shrink a bit in this whole recovery process, and I will learn to eat less!

I'm still going to keep checking in here for accountability, even if I dont lose weight.  It is at least keeping me from gaining any more weight!

Diets don't work.  Never did; never will.  You may lose for a time but then you will put it right back on, plus some, when you stop the diet.  DON'T DIET!  Lose that word.

You want to lose weight in, say, 6 weeks?  Use that time, not to diet, but to develop better eating habits.  More fruit and veggies.  And exercise - even if it's only to take a walk (a block or a mile) every day.  If you re unable to walk then get some hand weights and move with them.  See if your library has any exercise tapes that you can try out.  Don't forget, housework, moving, bending, turning, stairs, stretching, is exercise!  Mine today, shoveling.  Did 1-12 hours already.  Hoping the additional snow predicted doesn't develop.

    Stay warm everyone.

Thanks JO!  I will definitely try to eat after surgery, just more healthy.  I lose and gain the same few pounds too.  Let's just eat healthy together, LOL!  I agree...once a week is better than every day for me too...or even once a month.  I just want to stop thinking about food and losing it all together!  It's like an obsession!

They do say that many times when we think we want to eat the body is really asking for water.  So have the water and wait 20-30 minutes and see if you are still hungry.

Just shovelled again for 30 minutes and it's coming down again really hard so will have to go out again later.  Good thing is the exercise has me in somewhat better shape.  Me and Tylenol are going to be the bestest of friends tonight.

JO - cleaning cupboards is upper-body exercise and if you're doing them on the floor that's bending and stretching.

You are an inspiration to those who are on this journey and don't know if they can make it - you did!  Amazing the difference a year can make.

Good grief - I bet I have another 4 inches of snow on the ground again.  It's really blitzing us.  Haven't seen this much snow in one week for 20 years!

I definitely got my exercise the last few days like you patoo!  I've been shoveling until I drop dead!  We folks in NJ got hit hard!

I've heard that about water...I definitely think it's true, and thanks for the reminder, because I'm going to try it!  3 weeks till surgery, yikes!

Ate two meals today and a little snacking...I added up the calories and I think I'm at 1400.  I'll have a cup of coffee for fun, so that'll put me at 1450 cuz I like milk and 2 sugar cubes (NOT giving that up).  I think that's pretty good!  If I can keep that up till surgery, I'd feel happy about it.  BUT not getting caught up in that cycle again.  I didnt think about eating today, just ate when I was hungry, so that's what I'm sticking with, right?

According to Dr Oz eat 6 small meals, 2 hours apart a day.  A meal, though, is not what we think of it as an apple can be a meal.  When you think about it, an apple can be filling and if you're drinking water at the same time should do the trick.  I missed most of his show yesterday because I was outside having fun in the snow.  I think he said dark chocolate was okay too but I can't see a small square as a meal so maybe that was just one of the snacks.

In any case, good for you watching your meals.  Actually once you start it gets better so keep at it.

Okay, I'm down almost 10 lbs in 2 months.  Have to admit that 5 days in DisneyWorld in December and then lots of shovelling the last 10 days contributed to jump starting my metabolism and I just had to exercise and watch my food intake.  So, head to Disney or come here for the next snow and shovel for me.

That is great news Patoo!!!  I will get on the scale again this week.  I am also hoping to keep too many pounds from accumulating on the cruise.  Need to keep the excercising up!

I am holding my own with weight...lost another pound and I am holding it off.  I just keep a food diary and don't add calories. But writing down what I put in mouth is a great way for me to control myself. I think I am starting to see a slight difference in my appearance. (maybe it is my imagination but I have lost close to 10 pounds since September so I hope I am looking better).

Patoo, I have snow for you...we had over 44 inches this week. So far my hubby has done the shoveling but we are due for more snow on Monday/Tuesday and he will be out of town for work  then.

    Happy Valentine's Day all!

44 inches - Wow!  We are expecting more Monday/Tuesday as well but I don't think it is too much.

I'm sure you are looking better.  Many times we can't see it because we live with ourselves everyday.  Frown  But then one day we put on something that we haven't tried in a long time and, voila, it fits!  Surprised

    Hang in there.

    Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Well I have been eating terrible the last 2 days but I went to the store, got my husband and step-kids out of the house with all the junk food for the next two weeks! I don't want to diet per say just eat the right things and exercise. I will be back to exercising tomorrow with my work friends so hopefully I can make a dent. Maybe more shoveling as it is snowing again. I will make you laugh, I told my husband absolutely no candy for Valentines day and he didn't buy me any which must have been difficult for him because he is Italian and he loves to feed me, I got a pretty purse instead!

    Keep warm ladies,

    Linda
