I lost 4.6 lbs on Weight Watchers this week!  Of course I had my shoes on at the lst weigh in and took them off this week, BUT that should mean I lost at least 2.6 and that's a step in the right direction.  I love WW and always have and I know the plan, BUT I just don't seem to be able to stick with it on my own,  Knowing that I am paying to do it and knowing I am going to get weighed keep me in line.  The women I work with are doing it with me by simply looking at the materials they give me at the meetings and looking up and keeping track of what they are eating.  Now we have carrots and celery sticks and fruit in the breakroom instead of chips and cookies.    Patoo, you are right....there are 35 extra points you get to play around with and they encourage you to use them.  It is amazing all the good things you can eat that one would look at as fattening....like avocadoes and olives.  This week was incorporating exercise, something I don't get a lot of, so I have started taking one of the dogs a walk every morning....can't take both because then I feel like Ben Hur in a chariot race.

Congrats Marybe!  It's great to know that the effort you are putting out there is showing you RESULTS!   Keep it up!!  AND changing the work lunchroom snacking practices is PRICELESS!!  It can only help keep you on track and away from temptation!!

Well, you know even though I know WW works and have had success with the program before it took the fear of this new drug I am taking, Megace, to force me back into it.  The main complaint with this treatment has always been that it caused women to gain weight and that in itself although not something I want is a minor SE, BUT it would just be one more thing I have no control over, like the cancer so I decided to try to counteract the SE before it started.  Now I am not sure if  my appetite is increased due to the drug or if it's just that I am actually hungry (although I am not really all that much) due to cutting calories.  I do know that when I am on a diet I become much more obsessed with eating  because I am planning meals, looking at labels on cans and really enjoy the taste of food so much more.  The other day I had this wonderful salad with salmon on it and I just kept thinking Wow, this is good, Delicious actually, Boy, this is really good.  Also having my sense of taste back really makes me appreciate food a lot more which is not necessarily a good thing.

Hi, all!  Back after 11 days!  I didnt realize I had been away so long!

So...I....stayed the same.  Didnt gain, didnt lose.  How embarrassing it is to start a thread months ago, and really not have lost anything!  Not giving up yet!

Not really embarrassing Cake because we are going through treatments that hinder our attempts at weight loss so staying the same is really good, losing is just a plus.  You are doing great by not gaining - accept that truth.

    And, welcome back, BTW.

Cake,  Patoo is right...don't feel bad about not losing.  You are to be commended for starting this thread as it helps a lot of women.  I met a friend at the outlet malls today and for some reason I was absolutely starving and it's not easy to find healthy food at those places....I was just dying for one of those Auntie somebody's pretzels or a cup of fries, but we settled for Subway....afterall it worked for Jarred.  I think the reason I was so hungry is that normally I have my little bag of carrrot and celery sticks to munch on.  Hope I didn't do too much damage with all those samples I had at the Pepperidge Farm Store and  Harry & David.

Welcome back, Cake.  I was wondering where you were.  Don't beat yourself up on not losing because not gaining is just as important!!  Don't give up!!  I am almost ready to try and get on the scale again, but haven't been doing so good with snacking..... again!  Oh well, I will just get back on the wagon and keep up with excercising also!

    ok here is my update:

    NOTHING!...lol.

Seriously, I was doing great. I was at the gym daily and watching what I ate. Then I got some bad news that put me in a funk and I was stressing. Then my lymphadema acted up..big time from lifting weights at the gym. I have been running back and forth to my onc, massage therapist and plus I have my final exchange surgery in 2 days and Im trying to get the things organized with my 4 yr old with pre school and stuff. Thank god my mom is coming in for a day or 2 because my husband, although a good father and provider, is useless a t*tt on a bull.....<sigh>

January just wasnt my month. February will be different,. Good thing though, I have been off my Tamox for 2 weeks and feel fabulous!!!!!! No aches, pains, energy. To bad Femara is just around the corner.

I got weighed tonight and lost 1 more pound. I just sit there in my chair and never volunteer anything, but for some reason the meetings help me and I like hearing other people telling about their success. I discovered some really good crackers at the store the other day that are Allbran multigrain....you get to eat 18 of them and that is a lot.  Also I never in my life thought I would like those veggie burgers, but they are actually good.  But I guess if you are hungry enough, anyting tastes good.  Fiber seems to be what's it's all about with WW.

Way to go Marybe, one lb at a time is all it takes.

Be careful about the kind of veggie burgers.  Not sure if they all do, and I understand there is still disputes about it but check the labels for the soy content, or type of soy.

Back from visit to Ohio and thankfully didn't gain!  I ate more than I should have but who doesn't when on a trip. I was afraid to get on the scale!  I did manage to walk though, started out walking outside but it was way too cold so DH took me to the mall walk.  There is no way I could live in a cold climate again.  It was 72 when we landed in Tampa late Sunday night.

Back to work part time and will try to have better eating plans for that.  Hopefully will start aerobics next week so that should help.  I guess we just need to take it one day at a time and do the best we can.

Good luck to everyone!  Take care.

Where in OH? .  You know, the one I had I think says soy burger right there on the box....I never gave it a thought.  Soy mimics estrogen, is that the premise?   I will ask about it at the onco's tomorrow since I have to go get my INR checked.  It was really good, tasted just like a hamburger.  Guess I should go back to turkey burgers.

OK, I've decided that it is time to get on the scale again...... I have to use my Mom's scale, cause mine gives me a different reading everytime I get on.  It is really easy to think that I am doing well that way!! Well, sometimes!  Will post later with results!  Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Hey all!  Lost another 2 lbs!  The best idea I had was to weigh myself only every 2 weeks so I can actually see the scale go down!!!  I know that it is the excercising that is helping me out, cause my eating habits really aren't the greatest!!  Innocent

Marybe- My DH and I are from Canton, Ohio.  His parents still live in Canton and mine live in North Canton now.  It was good to go back for a few days but glad to be home.

Jo- heard that some nursing home company or health company or something like that moved into the old Hoover plant.  We drove by it and saw the renovations, I hope it helps the city recover a bit.

fmakj- congrats on the 2 lbs!  I know exercising helps big time.  I can't wait until next week when I can start aerobics again!  Walking is good but not good enough for me.

patoo- FYI- those sketcher shoes haven't done anything for shaping up but they are very, very comfy to walk in and if you're on your feet a lot.

Keep positive toughts everybody!  It's just one day at a time.

Mary Louise, I'm also seeing a decreast although not by 2 lbs at a time but also my clothes are looking better on me as well.  My eating is somewhat better but still needs lots of work to stop the binge eating.  But, you're right, exercise is the key and since the end of December I've only missed 2 or 3 days.  I do still weigh almost everyday though.  Can't help it and the scale is right by the fridge (how's that for incentive?)

    Night all.

Congrats JO!  I've heard that eating those small meals help a lot of people.  Maybe I should try that as well.  It's just harder to do that at work but may have to say tough noogies and do it anyway!

patoo glad to hear your clothes are looking better on you, that means something is working even if the scale doesn't show much.  Wow, how do you manage the scale by the fridge?  I have mine in the bathroom and it's bad enough looking at it every time I go in there.

    Keep positive thoughts!

Patoo - the last time I weighed myself was 2 weeks ago, so really averaging 1 lb a week.  The only scale in my kitchen is my food scale!!  JO - Congrats on the loss (again!).  I think that we all need to find the balance that will work for ourselves!  Keep up the great work Everyone!

Jo-5   And where are you in OH?  Congratulations on the 3 lbs and thanks for the burger recipe.

I agree with not weighing too often, I don't even own a scale.  I get weighed at WW and when I was going for weekly chemo was getting weighed there every week (that was preWW and it went up every week usually).  The small meals are a good idea and work, but protein has to be in each meal....I think 6 meals per day is what they say.  I actually used to work out with a personal trainer and that is what he had me doing...also drink lots of water and drink it before and during exercising so as not to dehydrate.  It was the only time in my life I was actually getting somewhere with exercise and then we found out he was a nutcase and a registered sex offender.....he was engaged to a friend of mine and was training with me for free.  Anyway, he went to jail because he violated his parole....my friend was devastated and I quit exercising.

Today I took a huge salad to work that I made....it was really a goood salad with all kinds of good things in it that I normally like, BUT I just couldn't make myself eat more than 1/3 of it.....I think I need to add some variety because I am just getting sick of green leafy things.  I am going to make some spaghetti sauce with gr turkey and try it with some wheat pasta.

Still exercising at least 6 days a week, anywhere from 30 mins to 1-1/2 hours but the past week my eating has not been as good as I need it to be.  But at least the scale is not going up.

Saw you post that over on the exercise thread.  That is so cool.  I admire that you go out walking in a snowy forest.  Makes me feel like a real wuss that I won't go walking in the cold.  Maybe I'll try and push myself to go out as the cold may make me walk faster.

It does that for sure!  But, I still need someone else around to talk to, or I'd get bored pretty quickly!  Lucky for me there are a few parents that like going on these hikes too!!!  The draw back is the hot chocolate, juice and all kinds of snacks when the walk is over!!! Innocent

On the bright side, you have LOST 8 LBS!!!!  I know it seems frustrating, ! am down 10 lbs since Oct. 10, but I figure the slower it comes off, the better able I will be to KEEP it off!!  Congrats!

Right.  If it comes off fast, it goes back on faster.  You have to work at losing slowly and that, interestingly, makes the chances of keeping it off better because you are learing new habits.  8 lbs - that's good!  I've only lost 7 but they are 7 I don't intend to see ever again.
