chocolate: substance well known to bc survivors to be essential for life and well being, sometimes referred to as Essential Element C. Not yet recognized by mainstream nutritionists and not yet adequately studied by same. There is debate within the bc survivor community about the relative importance and effectiveness of the major classes of chocolate: dark, milk, white, bittersweet. This debate revolves around the concepts of strength of benefit, concentration of benefitical elements, taste and personal preferences. There is general agreement that baking cocoa is not an acceptable substitute nutritionally, although, when mixed with eggs, milk, sugar, flour and various other ingredients baking cocoa approaches the nutritional value of chocolate.
