I'm happy to hear you're out of the bathroom and into the living room. And that your DH is being a good H. He's blessed to have you as his DW. Ice cream is good -- the best source of calcium. Please continue to take it easy, no singing and dancing though your feet are probably itchy to do stuff. Maybe you and Saint can have a contest to see who can sit still the longest? Hugs,
Elizabeth

I have GREAT, Big, GLORIOUS news!!!
And it has taken me all day to figure out how to share it.
I've just gotten off the phone with Saint and she's helped me "process" the good news and she has given me 'permission' to be happy.
I must say that while I am happy down to my toe-nails, I also have enough 'survivor guilt' and mixed-up emotions, that I want to tread carefully, because I realize that there are so many here who do not get to have a 'happy dance.'
So with all of that as a pre-amble. I woke before dawn again and somewhere before 5:00 a.m. I listened to my cell phone messages from yesterday. Apparently I turned off the phone to take a nap and never turned it back on......
There was a message from my surgeon that my path report was already back!!!! He let me know that the pathology indicated everything removed was DCIS, as per his expectations. The nodes surveyed indicated that there was nothing invasive. He concluded the message by saying that there were absolutely NO surprises.
I listened to the message at least two dozen times.
!!!!!!!!!!
I've told my parents & my children & now that I've tracked down Saint, I can share the news here.
I am keenly aware of how fortunate I am.
I am keenly aware that others will not receive this sort of news.
I am keenly aware of what your support has meant to me.
xx00xx00xx00xx00xx
Thank you and thank you and thank you some more!!
**********
I am about to add TMI (too much information, LOL) since this is my thread, I figure you're only here if you're checking on me, and this will help put things into where my perspective is.
So........ after I listened to the message a gazillion times, I sat here happily crying (you know how much crying I do these days) and saying my prayers of thanksgiving..... and then a little after six a.m. I just couldn't keep it to myself anymore.
So, for the first time since surgery, I crept very carefully back into our wonderfully warm bed, where my dear, dear, dear husband was soundly sleeping. (I have been sleeping in the recliner in our bedroom these several nights.)
Anyhow. I woke him up to report the good news.
Here comes the TMI...... so feel free to click out to some other thread.
We then had our very own "happy dance" together. Me with my drains looped around my stapled shut and totally bruised boy-body, drain bulbs filled up with overnight bodily fluids no less.
Let me tell you. "Good-pathology-sex" while quite sedate due to circumstances beyond our control, is about the sweetest reward possible.
You must promise not to report my enthusiasm to my children, as they would probably have me committed someplace if they were aware.
BUT you must know what an enormously incredible hurdle this morning's news-dance made as 'normal' as having salad together. LOL.
-
good for you Faith.!!!!!
-
Wow -- you have left the livingroom for the bedroom! Woohoo!!! I'm imagining the drains flying in the air...yeehaaaaa!!!!! Nothing like a good boink to make everything seem, well, good! Hugs,
Elizabeth

I've got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart (where)
down in my heart---(where) --- down in my heart
I've got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart (where) down in my heart to stay!!
And if the devil doesn't like it he can sit on a tack........OUCH....sit on a tack.....OUCH......sit on a tack and if the devil doesn't like it he can sit on a tack....OUCH........sit on a tack to STAY!!!
Faithie!!! I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo relieved and happy for you. NOW you can breathe easy and start that healing process. You GO girl!!!!!
-
Faith, you are not just on schedule...you are ahead of schedule I'll bet!!!!
What a lucky girl that your DH isn't "afraid" to show you how much he loves you.
Coonie, I am going to have that wonderful song in my mind for the rest of the day.
-
Faith,
I´m so glad you are home again, gauze and all, that there was only DCIS, and that the remaining parts have been tested and found to be all in working order
How did you end up managing your shoulder issue? I was telling my physical therapist about your predicament today. He was very sure that the doctor would find a way of working around your shoulder during surgery but much less sure how your shoulder would be feeling when you woke up.
xxoo
Lisa
editing to add-- I dont know where all those gray italics came from, but I cant seem to get rid of them.
-
Me too, Coonie. How cute it is!! I have never heard it but I think I know the tune...lol.
Congrats Faith!!!
-
WOW you go girl.
This nearly newlywed wanted hubby nowhere near for more than a month.
Bow-chicka-bow-wow
-
Coonie, I'll have the song in my head all night - even through American Idol - I'm sure!!! Faith - that is the best description - ever!!!! How blessed you and DH are to have each other. Continue with the healing my dear, any ole which way you want
-
Pitanga, I thought you were whispering in gray.
Faith, I really was humming that tune on my drive home today, then it lead to singing hymns. What a nice feeling!
-
Faith, so happy for your wonderful report. I love the description of love that you and your husband share in your joy of life!
If that devil would just sit on a tack to stay.
-
Now that's what I call a really good pathology report and celebration!
-
Wow! Wow!!! Wow!!!!!!
Wonderful news...all of it!!!
-
marlegal..Are you an American Idol fan like me?
-
Doin the Happy Dance.

I scrolled too fast to the juicy bits and missed the clear path report!
Wonderful news!!!! Try not to wear out your DH!! Hugs,
Elizabeth

Joining the happy dance
-
I'm so happy that your good path report lead to OTHER good things. May you have many, many more happy dances with your DH!
-
Congrats on the happy news and the happy dance, Faith! Best wishes for continued healing and many more happy dances for you.
-
So yesterday was just awful.
Thank goodness it's today.
Couldn't even bring myself to make a report.
Field of landmines.
Had a visit from the home-care nurse and she assured me that all of my various 'issues' were right on cue for the adventure of Cancer, The Sequel: hormones, adrenaline, emotions, sleep deprivation and pain roiling together into quagmire soup.
On an upnote, I did wash my own hair!
This morning is my post-op appt with my surgeon. We have reason to think that he will be removing drain(s) today, based on our note-taking of bodily fluids being expelled: Joy, joy.
(I think it could be sumerized as just a day without sex. LOL)
Saint is in need of your biggest, brightest prayers. Check out either of her two threads for the details.
-
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Faith))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Lots of hugs going out to you today. May this day be better, even in just one small way. May the Lord send someone to you with just the right words of encouragement.
I hope that all goes as planned at the surgeon's visit. It must be uncomfortable, awkward, and otherwise yucky to have the drains.
In the midst of all this, you are still thinking of your friends. You are an exceptional woman, Faith, exceptional!
Meece
-
((((((((((Faithie))))))))))) Thinking of you every hour of the day!! Hope your visit with the doc goes good and you're feeling a little better each and every day. Once those drains are gone and you can mosey on down to some Florida sunshine, I'm sure you'll be feeling MUCH better!! It's just a day at a time with the healing. You'll get there-----I PROMISE!!!! You'll have some blah days along the way, but then there's always tomorrow
I love you my sistah!!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and pop a pill when that doesn't help........LOL
-
We can all sing a round of, "Drains, drains, go away."
-
WHOOP WHOOP WHOOOOOOOP
OMG
Drains out!! Drains out!!
Surgeon got those monkeys out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just for good measure he removed the 50 staples as well. Actually we lost count of the staples, but it was at least 50!!
Of course I feel like 180 degrees better than yesterday.
What a wack-doodlie-doooooooo!
Smith my dearie. About the "Drains, Drains go away."
That is simply BRILLIANT!!!!
In a week's time I never had that thought...... slow learner status here.
I was just gonna put up a ramble on FB about that dittie.
On my newest, as yet to be released recording, I have recorded that with THE most awesome effect of African drumming, children's chorus, and a woman from Ghana singing in her Ashanti language......"Rain, rain go away."
Of the over 100 songs I've recorded, I think this is my 'favorite' arrangement of all time.
And I never thought of that dittie or your version in this last week.
Without your knowing it, or understanding it even, you have just given me a glimpse back into my life.
Well I may start one of my famous sobs and then Coonie will hand me my happy meds.....
I can not tell you/the collective/entire you, what you have meant to me.
Meece. I read your post above on my cell phone screen in the surgeon's waiting room this morning and rather than "losing it" I just felt completely calm and cared about and prayed over and peaceful.
Serious blessings on everyone.
We can indeed hold one another up.
We can indeed offer encouragement in the face of the unthinkable.
and
That does indeed make a difference!!
edited because Gahanna in original post is a suburb in central OH where I live, singer is from Ghana, in Africa, duh.
-
That was sweet, Faith. Put down then keyboard and step away from the computer...you need to rest now.
-
Wonderful news! It must feel so freeing!! I don't know about that little ditty -- the second line as I know it is "Come back another day!". I don't think so!!!! You've made it through with flying colours!! Like I knew you would. Hugs and kisses,
Elizabeth

Faith: So happy that you received such wonderful news
Let the good times roll!

There's our pickle, soon to be strikingly gorgous at the glam wedding of the decade. LOVE the dress that you've chosen.
There's our KonaKat who I whisper secrets to and she's sworn to keep, lest I jinx her next good boink.
KK: the children's rhyme we recorded:
Rain, Rain go away.
Come again some other day.
Little children want to play.
Rain, rain go away.
****Obviously it doesn't "exactly" translate with the drains annalogy, not that second line for sure, as I never want another drain while on this planet, but the whole point is the first line and the reminder that I have a way-cool project to complete and a way cooler life that's waiting for me.
Now I am gonna cry.
Cuz, the little children want to play holds perfect now doesn't it?
How do you suppose I'll ever be able to 'perform' this song and keep from thinking of this gray day in January when my stapled shut body was given the thumbs up to move along???
Ramble, ramble, ramble, ramble..............
I seriously love you gals
pass the hugs, the happy pills, the bottle of wine, this one's on me -- whatever ya want.
