Arimidex and Radiation

Had bilat. mastectomies, oophorectomy late last year.   My oncologist wants to start me on Arimidex during radiation (in the next week or two) instead of after due to positive lymph nodes at the time of surgery and large tumor size.   Wondering if there are any disadvantages to doing Arimidex during radiation.  I have really only found one article saying that possibly they both could be not as effective if given together.  Anyone have experience with this?

    Hi Summer,

    I started Arimidex last March after completing chemo in February, had exchange in April and radiation during May/early June.  Recent tests indicate that the Arimidex is doing what it is supposed to do.  Good luck with your decision.  -bonnie

    Summer - my Onc started me on Tamoxifen 4 weeks after finishing Chemo, which was also the day I started Rads. I think many women here have done the same. I was happy to start as soon as i possibly could.

    i started arimidex immediately after finishing chemo. took it during rads.  wanted to keep the estrogen levels non functional. no regrets.
