November 2009-Starting Chemo

(((cafelovr))) try this visual. If the tumor was visably smaller, that would have meant that the margins were shrinking in from the outside in. You are swiss chessy which means it is working from the inside out.
Remember the movie where the asteroid was heading to earth (Bruce Willis movie). They didn't chip away at the outside of the asteroid to make it smaller, they stuck the nuclear sh!t in the middle and blew it up from the inside.
If you want to penetrate enemy lines, do you start attacking at the edges or do you sneak spies into the core? That tumor is no longer a solid mass of dread, it is weak and mushy and chicken sh!t.
You are winning.
-
I don't think I could of said it better then Melinda did Cafelovr! You will beat this, 12 weeks of chemo and a lot can change. Try to stay positive you know how key it is for us doing battle !!!
Hugs ~
Alicia
-
God Melinda, you make me laugh! I am staying positve. It's just so aggravating at times. I guess we all go through our mopey moments, but alas...it's cold as crap here, but the sun is shining!
You know, I always said what I'd do if I won the lottery. Honestly, if I were to win a few million, I'd buy each Lady Warrior a plane ticket and fly us to the same place for a reunion. You all are my sisters and we are not alone!! Love to all!
(((Hugs)))
-
Cafelovr, I am glad you laughed, cancer has given me a warped sense of humor.
The other day I realized, the only way you can say you beat cancer is when you drop dead of something else. Oddly comforting to me.
I almost passed out in Walmart the other day, had to call a friend to drive me and the kids home. My 10yo has cooked her and her sister dinner for the past two night, she has used the stove more in two days than I have in two months. All of this sucks...
But, I am breezing through chemo since being bald makes me aerodynamic!
I lie, but I think it's funny.
-
((((Cafelovr)))) I agree with Alicia...I couldn't have said it any better than Melinda. You are strong and I know you will beat this! When you win the lottery, make sure our destination is WARM
...it is supposed to be 17 degrees in Texas tomorrow which is colder than it has been in many years here. I'm not sure my bald head and thin skin can handle much more cold.
Thinking about everyone having a tx today, good luck!
I am possibly just not seeing it...but it doesn't seem like we've heard from SharaD in a while. I miss her humerous posts...hope all is well with her.
((((HUGS)))
-
mommy,
You are correct, we have not heard from SharaD since Christmas Eve, when she went on about the bong!~~~I too miss her funny reviews of things and hope she didn't get into any trouble with her chatting of this issdue. I would feel very personally attacked if we could get in trouble over posting what was said, I just will believe she is just in a Happy place right now and working on getting over her infection. I will try to send a PM and see if she replies~
Cafe~ I would think a cruise in the Sunshine would be wonderful for all of us and our DH's or SO.
We could be spoiled together.
-
Becca, good luck on Thursday...I too have treatment tomorrow...
Sue, yah you. Done #3..you are over the hump now.
Linda, you are indeed a brave warrior chick...we all will beat this crap. Big hugs for you..
-
Linda, I too would love a vacation with great friends in the sun, with the sand between my toes...I will say a prayer you win the lotto bit.
I miss Shara aw well, she is a hoot. perhaps she found that bong and is already on that tropical vacation..
Melinda, I have amazing kids as well. My daughter really helps around the house...my DH is away for this treatment so I know the kids will help when they can...I have stocked up on things they can nuke for suppers...I guess a few days of pogos and baglebits won't kill them, right? They had to grow up so fast since my diagnoses...I could see my daughter age 3 years in two days...it made me so sad. She is only ten she shouldn't have to take care of her mother...I guess it will make her a stronger woman.
-
Received Chemo - second to last one - yesterday. Uneventful and a great visit with my oncologist - Dr. Gadi at SCCA. He has me in mind for some bone density research studies which sounds exciting. Anything I can do to help others will feel great.
Both my kids have had the flu - my son was down on the 3rd, and 4th of Jan. My daughter started getting sick on the 5th and today. I've remanded her to her room as much as possible. It's a flu that seems to spread very easily but shouldn't be H1N1 since she was vaccinated against it when I got sick in December. I just hope it doesn't grab ahold of me!
I'm taking a new nasua med - something starts wtih an E and is very expensive for just three pills $619 - thank goodness for insurance and $35 copays. I think it'll help and I feel more prepared for the SE's this time. I'll have it down by the time my last treatment rolls around. Ironic.
Was wired and housecleaning last night from the steroids, still wired a bit today but having an upset bowel...
I went "natural" for the first time at work today. No one cares. Feels good - like a huge trust thing wtih this great group of people I work with!!
I hope everyone else is doing well and managing. I for one am glad the holiday's are over.
-
Ok, I am stocked up now...decadron, zofran, percocette, neupogen and syringes, codine, tylenol, claritin, poop fairy meds, club soda, biotene mouth wash, heating pad, frozen foods kids can zap, Friends DVD, banandas and yogurt, yes I think I am ready..shoot me up with poison.
-
Littlebird,
Good to see your doing fairly well and so PROUD of you with the research and all, GREAT JOB!!
Aw'wwwe you sure need your family to get better, I will send healing vibes for them.
I think they finally gave you the Emend for the tummy, it works great but damn sure is pricey!!
CCnani & SharaD
You know I realized that we lost contact with CCnani on Thanksgiving Eve, haven't heard from her since. I tried PM's and everything I could think of, and now we haven't heard fromSharD since Christmas Eve.
What is it with the holiday trolls?
My last TX should be Valentine's, but I'll watch for those trolls for sure. I sure miss our two Warrior Sisters ~~~
For me, Well, it's been a week tomorrow I had my 4th Chemo TX and low and behold I started to lose my eyebrows. Oh well they needed thinning anyways. Awww'www just love my drugs.
(((((HUGS)))))
-
Cindy, forgot to say love your picture...
-
SharaD where are you - we need some more laughs. I kept thinking about your next tip to get to the top of the supermarket queue using chemo breath when I was away on holiday stuck in traffic. I was tempted to pull off my hat and stick my fuzz out of the window to move them out of the way
-
HI everyone !
MICHELE ~ big hugs for your next treatment tomorrow. Hope all goes smoothly and it is not too bad this time being you are all prepared.
Cindy ~ that expensive 3 pill pack is Emend ~ works wonders! Glad they gave it to you. Hoping your kids feel better soon.
Brenda ~ like your new PIC !
Sue ~ you are taking over with the comedy for Shara I see. LOL I too have wanted to flip off my hat and drive bald hoping everyone would get out of my way. I notice I have been speeding lately. Figuring if I get pulled over I will use the cancer card. Better stop pushing my luck huh?!
Shara D ~ hope you are OK! come BACK!
Everyone else ((((WARRIOR HUGS))))))

I drive topless all the time...I crank the heat when I get in and then I overheat...I even rolled down my window the other day and told a guy off after he took the spot I was planning to take..I had my signal on and he just took it...gave him a piece of what is left of my mind..
I think I have less patience lately with rude people...Also the other day in a parking lot a guy parked corner to corner so as to take two spots...I was loading my car and I said "hey buddy I think you parked a little crooked" He said it was ok since he was from the country...???? I guess being from the country makes you an ass...I always liked country people..Oh well perhaps cancer brings out the B%#@h in me..
-
Alicia: I tried to be really funny the other day posting a new topic about a shocking new side effect of the steroids - SHOPPING - but only got a couple of answers.
It's summer over here in OZ so it's great to go around the house topless (the head part I mean)..
-
I missed the shopping one ~ Sue. Can only imagine how beautiful Australia is, and ahhh Summer! I cannot wait ~
Michele ~ I picture you saying hey buddy . HMMM can't place the Canadian accent though. Darn that's annoying me now !
Hope everyone that had treatment is feeling ok, and those going tomorrow ~ thinking of u.
Alicia -
Alicia, don't wish for summer too soon. It gets really hot and humid here in Brisbane - I'd rather colder weather, but I do have a pool which is good.
I'm still on a steroid high been up since 4am - eeek!!
I finally got a copy of my path report from my GP this morning - very interesting reading. I had PLIC - pleomorphic lobular HER2+ - about 1% of bc patients. My BS should have given it to me ages ago. I'm going to see if I can get a new surgeon, I don't want to see him again. He only told me it was lobular - not the sub type - I'm not happy. The good news is that that type is especially responsive to herceptin.
I'm now researcing all the other things it says like lymphovascular invasion - absent - which is also really good. I must be bored now I've stopped shopping. It is tempting to do more though while the steroid thing is going on.
Sue

Alicia, we sound like people from Minnesota, and we add an "ah" on the end of most sentences...
-
Just had tx #3 and I feel like crap. My friend took me to the appointment and then took my kids for dinner and a movie so that I could have the house to myself. Friends are wonderful. This is definitely the worst I've felt yet. I'm not looking forward to the following days! Ugh!
Michele - I'm not taking clariton and I'm on neupogen. Does it help you with the bone pain? I only got that on my 6th and 7th doses last week. I'm hoping that isn't going to be the normal from now on. Also, are you from the prairies originally? The only Canadians I know who sound like they're from Minnesota are from Manitoba - but I haven't travelled that much around Ontario (just Ottawa and Toronto).
Gotta go to bed. Take care all!
-
Michele ~ thinking of you today with your next TX hoping all goes smoothly.
Mabelle ~ sorry you are feeling so bad. I know these next few days will be tough for you. Hoping you have some pain killers on hand.
Suepen~ good news that your type of bc responds well to the herpecin. SORRY your BS didn't get you your report. THAT is not good!
Just looked at the TX list that lovely Warrior Brenda made ~ so many of you had TX this week. Hoping all of your side effects go away soon. Gentle healing hugs !
Alicia
-
BeccaS,
Congrats on your 4th and the fact you are 2/3's done, Ya -_ -Whoooo, I wish you little to no side effects, we will all pray for the best outcome you can have ((((("Warrior Prayers")))))
Mommy Oh my Toyah!!!!!!
I love your new pic, is that your sweet daughter? She is almost as gorgeous as you!!~~~I know you must be proud as heck of her~~ Makes me miss never having a girl ~~ P.S. Did you know that you look absolutely wonderful even topless! Go mommy!!!!
Alicia,
Thanks! For the compliment on my pic! That was back before the -C- began when me and my DH where doing our usual riding around in the boat soaking up the Florida Gulf Sunshine! We love boating together and going to the Island. It's only a few minutes from the house to put in our boat and go to the Island which only takes a few minutes by boat, unless my grandson is with us, then we have to stop and fish along the entire way to the Islands first! He loves to fish! But if my grandyoungin is happy I am too, I still get the sunshine and get to watch his smiling face~~~
I hope is is well for you and your DH as well!!~~~((((Healing Hugs)))) to you and DH as well~~~
I am myself beginning to feel just a smidge better~~~~guess you can tell I'm posting again ~ except that I am having really bad stomach probs this go round, last couple of days I almost needed to Puke and it kinda feels like acid just rolling around in my tummy and it burns and feels like it will come up my throat. It happens in the middle of the night bout two hours before it is time for me to get up for work. Ruins my beauty rest
~ Sweet Jesus know I need that right now~
Suepen,
You wouldn't be going topless around here in N. FL It has been B'rrrrrr frigging freezing. So, much for my FL Sunshine.BUT~~~~~~FUNNY, I had done a visual and pictured all of us being the
"Warrior Sisters"we are just riding around with heads hanging out the windows in all our bald glory scaring the hell out of people like we are the living dead, I just laughed my butt off. and as
Phillipia, said if the mosquito's bite our heads, it will be there last suck of blood~~
Love to all Warriors, I need to send some PM's, chat with all soon.
For anyone I missed my apologies!
So to brighter days ahead for everyone ((((HUGS&SUNSHINE))))

Hi all, I'm here and catching up on all your posts...glad to hear that MOST of us are getting through this with nothing more than just little headaches, backaches, foot-aches, ass-aches, sour mouth-aches, toothaches, cramps, the runs, the piles, the cements, the jitters, the chills and "the vapors".
I love all the girls who say they were "expecting it to be worse". What the hell were you expecting, a nuclear explosion? That's about the only thing I can think of that would be worse.
I'm on day 3 so not feeling too freakin' funny today - sorry to disappoint. Day 4 usually is a bit worse but day 5 improves as food starts to taste more like tires and less like hubcaps. Day 6 is always fun as I get out and shop for a new TX outfit, usually making it home in time to hit the toilet .(Why is it that 5 days of stool softeners only seems to kick in when I'm out shopping???? I know where every damn public toilet in this whole city is located, and if your store doesn't have a decent throne, you've lost me as a customer. KOHLS, I love you, and thank you for the soft toilet paper...sorry I used so much of it)
Anyway, Day 7 is Decadron-delightful and then TX day I am so popular as all the nurses greet me with a big smile and then wait for me to rip their damn heads off.
I don't think the compazine agrees with me, it makes me feel anxious or something, I am going to try to get something else.
I did indeed get a NICE gift in my Christmas stocking, but almost spent New Years in jail. More on this later!
Hope you all have the best day yet this year, and please keep posting....sorry but my dry, callous fingers are spending less and less time on the keyboard and more and more time up my ass with a suppository. -

SharaD - Good to hear from you, sorry you are not feeling well. My stool softeners always kick in when I get to work, never when I am home!
Brenda - Thanks, yes that is my daughter. She looks like me and acts like me (trust me, THAT is not a good thing especially at school
) Loved your pic on the boat, very nice!
Wishing those who have a tx today an easy time with no side effects and hope those that had a tx this week are doing okay.

You where so frigging missed~~~~Thankyou for posting~~Even for twice~~~
-
Brenda ~ glad you are feeling a bit better !
SharaD ~ even not feeling good with chemo fingers you make me laugh. Sorry to hear your Christmas present almost landed you in the clink ~ Hope you feel better
Toyah ~ Love the new pic of you and your daughter - both beauties.
I put a new pic - you all inspired me. I got some new bandana's in WALMART ~ $1 each. Beats anything else I have to cover my head. I spent so much money on wigs and hats and like nothing better then the cheapo bandanas.
Hugs ~
Alicia

Alicia - CUTE!
-
aww thanks, feel more like bloated chemo face. But it is what it is for now !
