Happy New Year!

I wanted to wish you all a happy new year as my BC family. Don't know how I would have made it through 08 and 09 without you! Looking forward to a great 2010. Any New years Resolutions? I think I'll resolve to just stay healthy...
-
I'm still awake past midnight, though I was ready to hit the hay hours ago!
Happy New Year to my sistahs in strength!
-
I am resolving to be healthy and lose a few pounds around my middle :-) In fact I just ordered some ready made meals from Purefoods (reminded me of you Jen - Pure). Similar to a nutrisystems but they are not frozen and I was able to get vegetarian options without soy. So we will see how the first week goes.
I am also planning on becoming a Notary, getting my personal trainer certificate and buying a boat
-
Happy New Year too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry I have not been posting much but I have been following the threads. I have been so busy with work, kids, etc. I hope to do better this year. I also plan to start exercising, but I have trouble deciding what. I used to swim but still being one breasted, I don't like to be in changing rooms, etc. Maybe some kind of gym or aerobics.
Very best wishes to all and hope you all stay in good health.
Helena.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!
-
Happy New Year everyone! I even made it until midnight, with a little sofa snooze on the way.
My resolution is to have 4 uneventful Dr visits!
Hope everyone has an boring year medically, and a wonderfully year in every other respect.
-
every-we want a boat too. We have put it off for so long but not anymore:))) What the hell:) My husband grew up on boats so this has been his "dream"
One thing about BC is am no longer putting off what I can do today. Cancer or a car accident life is short.
So for me I want a tatoo, to loose all my baby weight, to finsih treatment with a pos attitude and get into the best emotional and physical shape of my life.
-
Happy New Year to all!
My resoution is simple - get through treatment and keep the faith that it will all be good. One day at a time for now.
-
Jen (pure) - I have lost count on how many tattoos I have. I had two before diagnosis - a flower on my ankle and a claddah on my back.
After treatment I got "Long May She Run" tattooed on the arch of my left foot (Joe got the same thing on his foot - I hope I live a long time because he will have a lot of explaining to do to his dates when they see that!)
I also got "Hope" with two pink stars on my wrist
In Ireland I got a shamrock on my back - who needs cheesy souvineirs
I got my nipples tattooed
When it was apparent my dad was going to die I got a replica of his anchor tattoo from his arm on my foot and the words "anchors aweigh" He loved it! My father was nothing if not a narcicst!
I love tattoos!
oh and I got my nose pierced! I have a teeny tiny silver ball. ALWAYS wanted to do that.
ps - I manage a law firm - most of my tattoos are not visable during the day and they are very laid back about me
-
KerryMac- 4 uneventful doctors visits sounds like an excellent resolution! I'll join you with that one. And echo a boring medical new year!
-
greetings everyone. i am languishing in El Paso
not.
sunny and fairly warm... hope you all are happy.
-
I echo DCMom's sentiments. I wouldn't have made it this far without my Cyber girlfriends. A Happy, healthy, "uneventful" (except for great things) for us all.
My New Year's resolution is to keep me and my DH healthy and to be a better wife, mother, friend, neighbor and stranger. Secretly, I wouldn't mind a little Dolphin on my shoulder or an angel on my ankle, but my DH would have a stroke. I'm also concerned about developing LE with the shoulder one anyway......
Hugs
Bobbie

everyminute-yeah I noticed your noise. I wanted to do that as well in the past:) But God I am scared of that one. In terms of tats I have none, but always wanted one-I would love the shamock to symbolize my daughter and Killian but I need one to symbolize the other 2. I think I am going to do it when I go to Florida for the kids tri. (and Jeff's)
Kerry-Yes A boring medical year with some brillant bc medical breakthrough that gives us all peace of heart.

Happy New Year! I'm all for a boat! We told my son last summer that as soon as he learned to swim, we were going to buy another boat (had one that was broken down more than it ran years ago), so hopefully he'll learn this year! Beyond that, I'm resolved to get through this treatment and come out on the other side healthy and strong - body, mind, and soul. Then I want to help others through this trial, just as so many of you are helping me.
-
Like AnacortesGirl, I will work at keeping the faith, too. It's so true, this experience really teaches us how life is to be lived now. To all of you, happy new year.
-
Happy New Year; i wanted to put my 2 cents in too. Never Give Up ***
-
Happy New Year everyone. Hoping to finish my reconstruction this year without complications. Some surgery will be done in February. Hoping nipple reconstruction at some point too.
Goals are to run a 1/2 marathon this year, get stronger emotionally and physically.
Cheers!

Happy New Year to all!!!
Goals are to get back into shape and start doing things I want to do. And..................... start being who I really am, not what people think I should be. I also want to do more volunteer work. I've realized that there is so much more out there I could do.
-
I've started a list...I'm going to write down 2010 things I am grateful for with no repeats. So far, I have 103.
-
great idea Jane!
-
Love the ideas Jane & Jenn. Jenn - I too need to focus on who I want to be as well as being more assertive with people. I have changed so much since my dx. I don't want to go back to who I was exactly. I also want to start doing some volunteer work this year. Time to give back.
Thank you all for posting. Will be doing some journaling today.
fyi - It is -38 C with the windshield in Winnipeg today. I am thankful for my gas fire place, warm home and husband to snuggle with.

Oh, my, I thought minus 27 was bad enough. Our poor puppy is not enjoying having to stay inside.
-
Happy New year my cyber girlfriends. You all made 2009 emotionally comforting and better. I pray you all have a healthy year and do what ever it is you set your goal to do. The boat thing sounds great but, though I live on the water, I prefer to watch the fishing boats go by the house. The idea of having to clean a boat doesn't do much for me. We have 2 big blue herons that live in our back yard and like to stand on our dock on the jet skis and paddle boats. What a mess they make everytime they poop!!
-
I volunteer with big brothers big sisters and am on the board as well. This year I counted kettle money late nights for salvation army. I am hoping to get my own not for profit up and running this year - Team Survivor Albany. I have always said I would rather be the helper than need the help
-
My new year's resolution is to get rid of a horrible addiction--I am addicted to Ambien Cr. Over the past six months have reduced the dosage in half. Last night I tried to replace the Ambien with melatonin, controlled release. Got sleepy but did not sleep. Today I have the shakes and my arms and legs are twitching (this is normal for withdrawal I understand) and just generally can't function. Anybody go thru this or have any suggestions? Have read this is as difficult as heroin withdrawal.Would love some help!
-
Weesa- certainly wish I could give you a word of wisdom, but I really don't know about Ambien. However exercise is supposed to help with better sleep and may get the drug out of your system faster. I am so sorry you have one more crappy thing to add to BC's long list of gifts that keep on giving. I'm sending you a big hug and some sleepy thoughts...
-
Oh Weesa.... I am so sorry. I second the exercise recommendation. It certainly gets the chemo out of my system faster. Usually, I sleep just fine.
On the topic of resolutions, I think just staying the course through chemo is enough to focus on at the moment. Then of course, training for cycling events at the other end as don't want to lose that momentum.
The other one would be "mindful giving" for next Christmas. That is, giving things that help others as opposed to "stuff". Great gifts are fine (such as a sexy nightgown I found for one of my friends) or wine to share with others even though I can't personally partake at the moment. But cheap stuff to ship across the country....just NO!!!!
Some time towards the second half of the year, I will need to do an assessment of my journey and where I want to go from here. Too soon now, other than I envision great and challenging things for myself. Part of this will be reshaping hair/wardrobe into something that fits my new life.
But right now, need to get through my one remaining AC and six Taxol. Plus train for summer cycling events during radiation. (My oncologist had better be right about this one or I am dead meat!)
Happy, happy New Year everyone.

Happy New Year! My goal for 2010 is to have successful reconstruction. So far, I have a date, January 28th for a bilateral DIEP, but the hospital just went out of network as of January 1...negotiations still ongoing. I have to make a decision this week so my support system has enough time to kick in.
