OK would like to read this article, but want to make sure it isn't chock full of scary stats. Having a bad enough week and if it says stress increases reoccurence...
-
Yeah, don't read it!
-
I just read it. No scary stats. Just emphasizes the mechanics of stress and cancer. I interpreted its message as "relax Christine, don't clean the house today....".
-
The stats aren't too scary...I like that they give some ways to relieve stress. I just played a few Wii games for the first time this weekend, and I think I've just found my new stress buster!
-
Oh, the Wii is so much fun. We got Wii Resort for Xmas, and have been playing it every day. It is a great workout too.
-
Santa just brought the wii over here too, but my son hasn't let up to give me a try! I want to get the fit extension thing. He's getting quite the workout here boxing. I think that one is up my alley!
-
yeah no it's not full of any stats at all-just talks about stress. Obviously we are all stressed so.... I cry a lot and I let myself do so b-c it relaxes me after-I let go of my fear through the tears. I also do yoga and pray-a lot. I sit in the shower and pray. All these things I think really help send the right message to my body but yes lets face it we are stressed but by exercising, yoga, eating right etc we are probably healthier then ever before.
When I think about my life b-4 cancer everything stressed me out, the kids, money , my company, etc. Now all that stuff seems like nothing. I wonder if maybe my body is more relaxed b-c I have focused so much on healing and let everything else go.Who knows...

It gets hard not to stress about stressing.... but I try to keep it all in perspective - I am definately better at it now than I was pre bc.

What race are you doing in Orlando? when is it?
-
I am so better at "letting things go" since Dx - I just don't let things bother me so much anymore. I guess it has put things in perspective a bit - which is why my house is so messy today! Ahhh, I must get tiding up!!
-
Wildman Triathalon - March 13th (I think) in Orlando BUT I am going to be in NC (Ashville) for about 24 hours Easter weekend - maybe lunch?
-
I am pretty far from Ashvile ( 3 hours:))) Is there a race in Ashville or are you going for vaca?
-
We are meeting my sister in law there - she wants us to take joe's brothers camper (who passed last year). They live in SC. I want to have my nipple tattoos retouched by the woman in Ashville so we will be using that as our meet point.
-
ok-what the heck is a nipple tattoo.....your scaring me:)
-
I had a bilateral mast with immediate recon (well - it is not really immediate, name is misleading) Anyway I had my breast exchange done to silicone implants last december and rather than risking more surgery on radiated skin I had nipple tattoos done in my ps office - they are ok but there is a woman in Asheville who does a more 3d effect.
-
-
everyminute, I live very close to Asheville and have met and discussed my sitation with the woman you are going to go see. I have been thinking of having a couple of radiation tatoos turned into freckles and having my fooby tatoos darkened. Please let me know if you are satisfied.Hope you enjoy Ash-Vegas, as it is referred to locally. Lots of snow on the ground, and more expected.
-
Wow, who knew. They look fantastic.
-
Weesa - I am fairly satisfied with the tats the ps did - my scars are fading and it is less of a reminder when I dont have barbie boobs but I wanted to have Earleen do it right from the start (we drove through last april and it was too soon and I couldnt get back down). Wanna come watch?
Kerry - I didnt do the c-v surgery (which makes a rosette type nipple) so they are just flat but I dont have to wear a bra ever either!
-
Very cool tatoos! I love my nipples/tatoos. Funny, I wasn't even going to get them but I am so glad I changed my mind. They're just so...cute! LOL
-
Perky boobs for life. Fantastic.
-
bugs - did you do surgery too or just tatts?
-
I had the nipple surgery. Laid there and watched the whole thing. My recon was tram flap, so the nipples are on the flaps and haven't been radiated.
-
My breasts look ok, especially in clothes but every once in a while I will see someone at gym locker room and think - boy, I am a freak! :-/ but again, it beats being dead (again, channelling Kerry)
-
Or being a Uniboob really.....
-
I don't know..maybe it's because I waited 3 years before having recon..but other than the scars and numbness, I love my new look.
-
If I didn't have to go through all the surgery, I would do it too. I'm just enjoying feeling good....maybe in a few years I will do it.
-
I am going to have my reconstructive surgery January 7th. I am not looking forward to more surgery but feel that having this step done will help me feel better mentally. Thanks everyminute for the site on the 3d nipple tatoo. My daughter lives in South Carolina not too far from NC so I will check this place out when it is time for my nipples to be done.
-
alaskalady, and everyminute-- this is a super nice woman who really does feel very committed to helping survivors free of cost! She comes to charitable fundraisers and meets survivors and explains what she will do for us for free.My Irish Pub is just a few minutes away from her, and I will meet anybody who makes the trek here and take them to lunch. How can you beat that!
-
I can't believe those nipples -that is amazing.
FOr me I had big old droppy size D boobs and after 3 kids it wasn't pretty. I CANT wait to have small breasts. I actually like not having a breast and look forward to the other one coming off:)))MY husband on the other hand is probabyl grossed out but for me I have had big breasts since 14 so this is really nice for me.
After seeing those tatoos though that might be the way to go versus MORE surgery......
