Too things that have been on my mind.

My friend who had the exact diagnosis as mine right down to the position of the tumour didn't get taxol. She was prego ( 3 months when diagnosed) and did 6 treatment of FAC but when she went back for the taxol after baby he said at this point it would only increase survival by 2-3% and not worth doing. I am very scared for her and am encouraging her to get a 2nd opioun-she lives in a small town in Texas.

She had a 5cm tumour, 12 out of 22 nodes, and is er and pr pos hr neg. Has anyone heard of this?

Also, she is now 2 years out from surgery and diagnosis. She is doing well. She is wondering if her reoccurence rates improve now that she is 2 years out?  How does that work-does every day bring increased odds?

As far as I know, recurrence rates drop sharply after two years out (from finishing treatment) then again at 5 years out.

As for the Taxol, I think there is documented benefit for node+'s and Taxanes. I think the 2-3% would be worth it....mind you, it would have had to have been done at the time of her other chemo - there is probably no benefit in her doing it at this point.

she can actually still do it as long as she hasn't had a reoccurence the benfit is still there. She is only 29 diagnosed I think at 27.She thinks the benifit is 2% not 2% off of the reoccurence rate.

I'm assuming she had her tx locally.  So if it were me and I'm wondering about the tx I was given, what my future looks like, what changes in field might help, etc. then I would go to MD Anderson for a consult.  For peace of mind.

I agree with what Christy said - MD Anderson is wonderful - I haven't had to go there but believe me - if I ever get to the point where I feel like my docs here are not answering my questions or doing everything they can - I will be there in a flash!!   I have two friends who had cancer (not breast cancer) and they both believe that MD Anderson saved their lives.
