The infection was not from the rad. I had rads in 2003, I had a double mast in March and recon in March. A few weeks ago I burned my rads reconned boobie with a heating pad, it was healing fine, saw Doc on Friday he said it looked fine, and I wake up wednesday with an infection. So here I am back in the hospital with one boobie and trying very hard not to think about how messed up this is,
Not a fun week, so much for 2010 being better than 2009.
-
big apple----get well soon!!!!!
everyone else----make sure to let me know if you want to keep GTG on Thursday or change to weekend!
-
Wendy....pooh on the infection! I have been down that road and it is disappointing. I was readmitted, too, but did 6 days of IV vanco and it seemed to get at the infection, so I was able to keep the implant. Will they be able to re-insert once the infection is gone? HUGS!!
Cookiegal, I am going to lean towards the weekend, too, just because I can't commit to the weekday until I figure out this new job schedule. Friday evening would be fine by me, too.
God Bless!
-
Deb,
How are you doing?? How is the energy level? Hope you are doing well!
God Bless!
-
yikes.....reading about this makes me really nervous about my cellulitis!
Oh well, keep I'll hope the oral antibiotics do the trick!

Angel- congrats on the job!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Snow is starting here, time to curl up with a cup of tomato soup for dinner.
-
I prefer the Saturday too, but am flexible.
Angel, congrats on the job!!!! and re rads, what energy? I think the cold dark weather isn't helping either. I only have 5 more left to go. Yea. and will finish on the 28th.
Snowing here too. Time to curl up on the couch with my blankie and relax.
-
Omaha, stonebrook, RW, rrenyolds, crusader , how do you all feel about switching from Thursday to Saturday?
Merry Christmas all!
-
Hi,
I guess Saturday will be okay of all want that.
Happy Holidays to All,
Francine

Wendy,Too bad about loosing your implant. I lost my second tissue expander due to an infection(MRSA). First one left due to necrosis. I am on my third TE..seven surgeries in my pocket and hoping for a success this time. Then on to an implant.
After my infection I had to wait four or five months to have the next one put in. Don't rush to get a new boob . Make sure your infection is long gone.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Thank you all so much
I bought a foam boobie today and two new bras, so I will be patient, once things are ready,I'll get fitted with a regular prosthetic and then wait out the time till I can get the new surgery done. I have a follow up with Dr. Disa on next wednesday, so maybe I'llhave some sort of time frame.I'd sort of liketo be done by my 45th bday in may but that may not be realistic.

Big App glad you are feeling better!
Merry Christmas!
-
well got results of the bone scan and the xrays:
" gee bone scan looks great, let's look at the xrays just to make sure. ooops, what that? Oh, you have a fracture in your spine."
Yuh think? Could you have looked at my test results BEFORE you came into the room? Leave it to local docs, *sigh* looks like I'll be needing to trek into NY some more. Well, physical therapy here I come for the next 2 months and then if no results, it's time for surgery to pin it in place.
Ok, I have a new, new year's resolution: I want a boring, non surgical, non medical year for everyone.
See you folks at the Boat show. I will pass on a lot of walking around, I may just sit in a corner.

God Bless!
-
Cookie- I'll take the chair on wheels. I'll be thinking of you on the 29th.
Angel- you're not kidding that it stinks. All this time everyone was telling me it was se's from AI's. It wasn't until it's gotten much worse that it finally got discovered. PT today said, plan on surgery.
Fran- hugs to you. Here's to a successful surgery in 2010 with whoever.
-
Angel: Thank you so much.
Cookiegirl: There is a company that make radiation skin products,my radiologist had recomended it back when I did rads, its called radiaguard, They have a website, http://www.radiaguard.com I have ordered from them in the past.
Flash, I'll sit at the bar with you, I don't think I'll be up to be jostled by crowds, but I definitly want to come in for dinner.

Hi,
Happy Holidays to all celebrating today.
Flash- too bad about your back. it's a shame they don't take us seriously. Yes so many of us are in the world of doctors . I do love your NY resolution.
Cookie- good luck beginning your rads. You will be fine. I just love your new boyfriend..
Angel-yes a happy and healthy new year to all.Good luck with your new job.
Wendy- I now have a collection a breast forms etc. Good news just the other day I put on my premastectomy bra after my three fills. I almost feel whole. A real thrill.
Life..welcome to our group..
I am available on that Saturday..whatever we decide...
Hugs,
Francine

Francine:
Can you PM me information on the forms and which ones you liked best. I am using a really light foam one now, because without the implant I have a lot of sensation on that side and the weight of the silicone ones was just too much, plus till the stiches come out,I don't want to push my luck.

Haven't been on in about a week and it looks like alot of activity has been going on! First I was busy with the Christmas craziness, then on Monday, I fractured my right elbow at work. Silly me decided to wear regular shoes inside, after all of the snow that we had last weekend. The maintenance people didn't put runners out, and I slipped and fell on wet ceramic tile. Looks like I'm going to need physical therapy, but thank God no surgery! I was really expecting it. With it being on the arm that I had my nodes removed, I was petrified! I was just about in tears about it when the doctor first mentioned. Guess it could have been worse.
The weekend boat show looks good to me if that's the route we want to go. Either day works for me.
Janet

Happy Holiday's everyone and a warm welcome to those I have not met yet.
I am in Omaha and it is so cold and I was snowed in for Christmas, so no dinner and no family get together (bah humbug)
Janet...you just wanted to be like me (: I fractured my left elbow in October, at the Dr's office LOL
I would prefer Saturday for the boat show too.
Love ya all and best wishes, I am with Flash no medical stuff next year!!!
Eileen congratulations on the new job, I hope you will like it.
-
Cookie, good luck with rads! Are you able to bring your new boyfrieds to treatments?
Eileen, congratulations on the job! What a great way to start the new year.
The funny thing with my elbow, is on Saturday night I was talking to my husband that I had a great health year, just the usual cancer tests, but nothing in the way of horrible colds, flu, pnenomina, or what not, and little did I know what would happen 48 hours later!
Things are going as well as can be expected with it, I finally get to drive tomorrow. I took a short ride to the beach by me, and had no real problems. Don't think I'll be in the Daytona 500 anytime soon, but at least I don't need my husband to drive me around.
Hope to be on before the year ends, but if not hope everybody has a happy and healthy new year!
-
