ugh! it's 16 degrees out and i'm trying to find the motivation to go get radiated today. another cup of black coffee might help a little but i'm so over it!!! i hurt my back doing yoga on monday. putting on pants and shoes are a chore now too. my ro said my body would tell me when to stop working out and i guess it did. big time. this sucks. not to mention the constant fatigue and burned raw boob. just feeling a bit sorry for myself (again) but trying to turn it around in my mind. only 6 more to go. i can do it. i can do it! then it will be over!!!!!

    thanks for listening

debnyc,Yes you can do it, only 6 more!!! My last 8 days  were the worst for me, I almost didn't want to finish the last 4. I am burned and raw in a couple of spots, today is my first day of no rads and praying that I heal up soon. Hang in there you are almost DONE!!!

Deb, I thought you were just being poetic.  ;)  I'm sorry you are having such a crappy time!!! Sorry about your back!  16 degrees?  I'm whining because it's 36 and raining here.  Undecided    I'm a couple of days ahead of you.  We're so close to being done!

My knee 'went out' on me yesterday.  That's never happened before.  I could barely get back up the stairs after letting the dogs out.  I also told the same story to my DH 3 times last night.  I'm turning into an old lady all of a sudden.  :(   It can't be from rads and I didn't have chemo.  I think it's stress.

Josybee, congratulations!!!  :D  Thank goodness you're done!  I'm so sorry you burned like that!  :(

Donna, ugh, that's exactly what my RO says about everything!   I think they train them to say that.  >:(    I'm glad your breathing is getting better!  I'm sorry he didn't take you seriously.  :(

Today is 21 out of 25 for me.  I'm counting the seconds till this is over!  ;)

I did it. 28 of 33 done. Only 5 more to go.

Sparrow, I laughed out loud when I read your post. Hmmmm, all of my exclamation marks were in gray italics too?

    Smile

The gremlin in the website has totally brought me out of my funk! Hope he messes with this post too.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

You are in the home stretch ladies!  You can do it!!!!!!

My RO says things aren't from the rads that I KNOW are... it must be something they learn in doctor school LOL

I swore I wouldn't complain too much about rads after having such a miserable time with chemo but I'm definitely over this also.  Yes, I know I'm finished but I'm suddenly soooooooooo itchy.  When I have hot flashes at night the sweat must irritate the area and I wake up wanting to scratch so bad.  Last night I scratched in my sleep.  Oops. Cortaid helps a little but not as much as I hoped.

    Hahaha!!!  :D

They are going to zap me Saturday unless the emergency patient cancels!  :D  That way I can be DONE before Xmas!!!

Sorry you're itchy, Lauren!  :(   If you find something that helps be sure to let us know.

    Good morning girls.

Tamara, I really hope you're getting zapped.

Lauren, I got the Maxiumum Strength Cortizone l0 Cooling Relief Gel. It feels really good going on. I complained about the same thing to my ro and she told me to take my left over vicoden to get through the night. It does work. So how is it post rads? Are you starting to heal? Is there a noticable difference yet?

Is anyone going to the YSC Conference in February in Atlanta?

hey ladies!  Hang in there, finishing is so SWEET!

Yesterday evening I totally crashed (1 day post last treatment!) and I'm in a good amount of pain :(  My skin is burning, stinging, peeling and sticking to my clothes :(

We have nearly 20" of snow here and it's still falling...but thankfully the "blizzard warning" was just lifted.  My husband is a trooper, he plowed all night long and just offered to go to the store to pick up my hydrocodone RX :)

Tamara I hope you were able to get your extra zap today!!!

Deb, I will give that cooling stuff a try, it sounds great.  I have some leftover painkillers but I'm not really in pain, just itchy.  I'm getting my energy back but the redness is still there.  It's peeling now quite a bit so I have a feeling the whole area might just peel.

I was thinking about going to that conference actually but didn't want to go unless I had someone to hang out with while I was there.  Are you going??????

well crap...DH just called to say that the drug store that has my RX is closed :(  I guess chilled aloe and a ceiling fan will have to do it for me tonight!

Tamara, were you able to get your treatment today?  How's your knee?

debnyc, you're close you can do it, hang in there!  How's your back feeling? I would love to go to the conference but I just can't afford it :(

josybee, how are you feeling?  My first day post rads wasn't quite the celebration I was planning on...I crashed before even eating dinner!

Niknak0320,My second day post rads and not really to tired. I still have a lot of pain in breast and under arm, I am taking vicodins every day. The burn under my breast is really bad, using the silvadene cream 2x a day but the crease under breast stays really moist so I don't know how long it will take to heal. Under arm is really burnt & raw also. Can't wait to feel normal again.

Hey Lauren, I made a friend at the New York, New York bc get together and we'll both probably go. I'll start looking at flights next week and will let you know. You should definitely come and hang with us.

Niknak, they give travel scholarships. Maybe you could apply and come too? The more the merrier :)

My back is still killing me and I got my surprise tamoxifen early period. I'm thinking that the back ache may be related to my period.

The snow is falling here. Finally. I think we're supposed to get a foot at the most, and it's sticking. Yea. I hate when it turns into dirty city slush.

    Feel better everyone.

Just for fun - I made this album for my aunt's niece (on her DHs side - who was just diagnosed at age 19) to see if she can tell which of these pictures I am wearing a wig and which ones I have my real hair.  So I wanted to ask you guys if you can tell?  :)

Nik, I totally can't tell!?!?  Mine is soooo obvious, I really don't even wear my wig.  Mostly scarves or hats, sometimes with a little hair headband insert thing.  19 years old, wow, that is so young.

    Deb, definitely keep me posted.

I guess at 19 I'd be pretty worried about my hair too but she is super concerned with losing her hair and I just want her to realize that it's not the worst thing in the world!

She also doesn't want to do chemo or tamoxifen...and she's being tested for a rare gene that if positive would make it so she can't do rads.  She had a lumpectomy with clear margins and no positive nodes.  Are there any other options for her?  I can't think of any other than hoping the surgery took it all and she'll take her chances...

I can't tell either, Niknak!  :)   You look amazing!  Ugh, I'm sorry about your aunt's niece.  She's awfully young to have to deal with this!  :(   I'm glad she has you for support!

They zapped me at 8am Saturday and then I went home and slept for 5 hours!  :O  I was so exhausted.  I've been napping all weekend.  I'm all red & spotted in the rads field and starting to get itchy.  I put some hydrocortisone cream on & have been taking benadryl.  The benadryl seems to be helping the most.  I'm wearing an old sweatshirt of DH's, it's the only thing that doesn't make me itch.  I feel so glamorous right now.  ;)

I live in Atlanta.  I'm thinking about going to the YSC conference if I'm not in CA then.  At the very least maybe I can crash a coffee get-together or cocktail party.  ;)

Ugh, I was so sleepy I missed THE party of the year last night.  :(  DH was so sweet, he stayed home with me because I didn't feel like going.  We watched a DVD instead and I fell asleep sitting up on the couch.  ;)

    Hi everyone

I go for number 25 today - my last of the regular txs. Tomorrow is the first of 8 boosts. My skin is holding up really well - pink and a bit leathery in one spot but am managing just with the aloe cream. It feels like the end is close now.

    Hey Ladies,

Started rads in Dec and finish in Jan. Thanks for posting, it was really good to read info from people who are just a little ahead of me. It helps me know I can get thru this. Congrats on finishing. This is my last step (except for nipple tattoo) and I am sooo looking forward to finishing already!

Hello all... I had rad 18 today, will have 35 total.  I'm nauseated, pink, tight and have headaches.  I have 8 fields radiated, so it's a large area.  I'm really looking forward to being done, the fatigue is no fun either.  Much love to you all!

Well, they stopped me last Wed. because of how bad I am.  I resumed today and I and the Techs are not sure if it is the right thing to do because of how bad my skin is.  Dr. says I can finish these last 3.  OK if he says so.  I am on that silver stuff.  The aloe now stings.  I couldnt have my port out because of risk of infection. At this point I have 2 left to go and not sure I will make it, it is that bad.

Congrats to everyone finished!  To those of us still going... Heres to us.

    Much love Deb
