    Hey all--

I finished rads yesterday (yay!) and am starting a new regime of supplements that includes anti-oxidants that I couldn't take during chemo and rads. I am working with a nutritionist--he is NOT an anti-western medicine guy, which I would not feel comfortable with. here's what I am doing:

    Pro-biotic greens drink

    green tea tablets

    DIM

    fish oil

    AHCC

    A multivitamin called Advaclear

    D3 and calcium

     and of course--Tamoxifen!

Sounds good-the only thing is make sure none of them mess with the tamoxfin. That is what scares me. Anyone have info on that? What is your receipe for your green drink?

    Hey PureE--

I'm working with a nutritionist who practices with a major cancer center for exactly that reason-- I want him to help me work WITH the stuff I have to take. He got me through chemo with flying colors so I really trust him, I did run everything past my onc just in case.

I take a powdered greens drink called ProGreens-- Green Vibrance is a good brand too.

    PureE,

Steel cut oats is oatmeal in it's least processed form.  LOVE them.  I usually cook a big batch and then freeze them cuz they take forever to cook.

My onc WANTED me to take b6 during taxol.  Helps with the nerve neuropathy.

Only fish oil, and that's to get my triglicerides down.

I kind of believe the line of thought that things extracted from foods and put into pill form not only don't work as well as when they are in food, they often have unintended negative consequences. Remember the research that beta-carotene in supplement form actually worsened lung cancer incidence?

Supplementally, I take calcium/vit. D, acidophilus, a multivitamin (probably will discontinue this since I'm pretty sure I don't need it), flax seed oil for the Omega 3's or ginger capsule.

my onc had me take b6 and l-glutamine during taxol to prevent neuropathy.  I never got neuropathy - maybe that is why?

I only take Vit D and Calcium...

I prefer to get the rest of my "goodies " through food - so I make a point of eatimng fatty fish as much as I can (I oftenb have a tin of sardines for lunch) and foods with lots of Omega 3's (walnuts) Also I drink 3 cups of long-brewed green tea a day.

Pure ~  The B6 I began taking during my pregnacy with my 3rd baby.  He's now 30.  I had read back than in "Prevention " magazine that it helps with nausea during pregnancy, and if taken at night at bedtime 300 mg it keeps you from getting overly swollen in the face and ankles.  I was amazed how true that was.  That pregnancy was the only one that I didn't suffer from swelling and water retention.  I have never stopped taking it at bed time to this day.

the steel cut oats are in your grocery store hot cereal dept. by the oatmeal.  I love it.!!

Make sure you take food (macro-nutrients) with your vitamin (micro-nutrient) or it will not absorb or work for you nutritionally.
