I work with a breast cancer advocate who goes to all the conferences etc. She is pretty versued on breast cancer. A client introduced me to her and she has been such a blessing.

Anyway we chatted today and she is going to ASCO. She received the itenary and she said a lot of what is being presented this year is on Zometa. She said that reseachers are so excited about zometa.  I asked her why Doctors don't push it more. She told me that back in the day doctors pushed stem cell transplants-and patients died from them and they didn't work. They weren't based on clinical trails-now doctors are very careful to push anything without several clinical trials-even though Zometa has already been through Good Quality clinical trials and are on round 3 which is more then enough proof of the results.  Anyway, lots coming out about Zometa this year and it really has proven to be a great great drug.

Also, she told me the reason we are far from a cure is really bc is 5 different diseases. There is triple neg, her pos, etc. so there is so many different variants of the disease.

Also I didn't know that triple negs are worked into the stats along with her plus,  etc. So we are all grouped together.

She also said that at MD Anderson they have a group of stage 4 women who had a single METS and were treated agressviely-the same way if they weren't  or didn't have mets. These women with SINGLE spots of mets  are almost 20 years out. They are part of a trial.

Anyway- I thought that was encouraging..... The stage 4 stats are not correct either.

I will let you know what she tells me from the conference.
