So tommorow is my last chemo b- I start Taxol and have my baby.

I was going to tell my doc I didn't want the Pet/CT scan until after chemo is done. THe reason being is 1) Sloan either does a bone scan or pet with contrast but not both and 2) My treament would stay the same if they found something.

I to date have had a CT scan and MRI and of course blood work. I was told that my lungs, liver, ribs, abdomen and breast were clean. Brain only gets tested if I have symptoms so the last remaining area was my bones-but even with that they should have shown on MRI.

Anyone else told this?

But today I thought of something else-what about my neck? Would that have shown on any of these tests?  I remember seeing something about my thyroid nodules (had those for 6 years-so wouldn't that be my neck?

Sorry I know I keep asking about this subject matter. I just am scared.

    I think one of two things - either it would have shown on the CT scan, or you would have been having pain by now (after 6 years) . What area was your MRI of?

    If it was me, I would have the baby, do the taxol, then do a bone scan. Just one thing at a time.  Having a bone or PET scan after giving birth wouldn't change anything anyhow.

    Huge congrats for nearly being half way through! When I changed drugs I felt it was all downhill from then. How long a gap will there be before you start Taxol? You might even get some hair back if you are lucky.

    Yeah I am not scared about the thyroid nodule-it has been there so long and I can feel it. It has actually shrunk with chemo-I am just scared that I could have mets in my neck but I wonder if that would give me swollen nodules you could feel.

    I will only have a 3 week break. Hair? Gosh that would be great. The wig thing is so uncomfortable.

    One of the first things my onc did when I was examined by him was to feel around my neck and shoulder area.  I was thinking while he was doing it, he was checking for any swollen nodes.  Your onc must have checked your neck area.  Don't let yourself get too worried.  I good rule of thumb to remember is first things first when you're facing a number of things ahead to do. First, concentrate on having that beautiful little baby, and then focus on next step in treatment. Just take one day at a time and you will do fine.

    I know what you mean about the wig thing.  I never wear mine unless going out somewhere.  Too uncomfortable to wear around the house.

    Oh, I was so happy to get rid of the wig. Mine was getting all fried at the front too, from opening the oven with it on!

    My Onc and the BS always feel that collarbone area, Rad Onc did too. They know what they are feeling for.

     At my exams my onc feels around the neck area as well. Also both underarms.

    yes not only does the doc feel my neck but my Husband/in house doc does too. I have him exam me each week just so someone can give me good news.:))))

    My onc feels around my collar bone, underarms and neck too.  I'm nearing the end of chemo and am more worried now than I was when I was diagnosed.......
