THOUGHT I'D SHARE A FUNNY STORY..........
I had a bi-lat mx in June, was told I could get boob prosthesis at the end of Sept when the wounds were completely healed. Sept, Oct & Nov came and went and I just never got around to getting boob prosthesis. I hadn't really done a lot of clothes shopping since surgey, just picked up few things here and there, but no real clothes shopping. And I was enjoying the freedom of no boobs after having size D's removed. So....... now I have a few parties to attend this month and I really want to wear something nice. I went shopping earlier this week and all of the blouses and cute tops really need boobs. I was frustrated, called the onc'S office and got a "prescription" for new boobs. I went to the store today and purchased two new boobs. I was so excited I decided to wear them home and surprise my family and this is what happens...............
I walk in the door, talk to DH and DD about their day and telll to them about my day (I went to my office to get my desk and other things in order because I'm offically going back next week).
Then I ask - "Do you notice something different"?
They resond - "yes, you look nice today, the outfit you're wearing looks good".
Again - "do you notice anything different"
They respond again "no, but you're work outfit looks good".
So............. I tell them "LOOK I HAVE BOOBS"!
They realize it and say "ohhhhhhh, yeah, they look good, sorry we're used to you being flat now that's why we didn't notice".
All the more reason they should notice two size C's staring back at them............. REALLY????

Ha!!!
The main thing is how YOU notice youself. Im sure you look ultra fab!!!
Have fun at the party's!!!!
-
The important thing is how you feel about yourself with your size "C"'s I showed outwardly to them when they noticed how nice you looked in your jeans!!
-
It just goes to show that most people actually don't notice!
I was so self conscious during Rads when I went around lopsided, but I doubt anyone else was even aware of it.
I went dress shopping yesterday too - I am very aware that i don't have clevage anymore, and so many party dresses are low cut. My husbands office party is next weekend, I will be seeing a lot of his collegues for the first time since treatment, so I am a bit self-conscious about the whole boob area. Found a nice dress with a square cut top.
Hope you enjoy your new "girls"!!

The best thing about losing the Ds and going to Cs is that you can throw away your pin collection. Seems I was always having to pin my blouses shut so my "orthopedic underwear" was concealed.
Feel good about yourself! And have a great time.....Sue

Absolutely fabulous !!! happy holidays.

So funny. Enjoy those new boobs.

I was d as well-I only had 1 breast removed but once I have baby the other one will come off. I can't wait to have small boobs. When I walk around with my uni boob my kids don't say a word. It's amazing how so adapt to things.

Thanks - y'all are right - we notice it more than anyone else. I have the same issue with my eyebrows. I have about 5 or 6 hairs left in the eyebrow area the guide me for drawing on my eyebrows and so few eyelashes left I quit using mascara and use only black liner. When I mentioned to a co-worker yesterday she looked closer and said she really hadn't noticed either. But when I look in the mirror all I see are these awful drawn on eyebrows and lashes that are down to so few I can't use mascara.

I've been flat for 10 months and love it. If I decide to get recon it will be A's. I was a large C before.
I have been liberated form the tourture of a bra and now I am spoiled LOL

Jenn, your story reminds me of my DH who is a cross between an absent-minded professor and a mad scientist. (He's an engineer.) For several weeks after losing my hair I stayed pretty much at home and wore a white knit taboggan hat pretty much all the time, even to sleep in. It was January, and unusually cold. Finally one day I remembered my hairdresser saying they sold wigs at cost to chemo patients so I went and got a pretty but mundane brown wig. That night at dinner I kept waiting for my husband to comment on it. Finally I asked him if he noticed anything different about me; he was thoughtful for a moment and said, "New Sweater?" After guessing for a while I said, "Look at my new wig, you idiot!" He was amazed and said he had forgotten I had lost my hair several weeks ago.

Can I tell my funny story? I took my boys to the doctor's office so that we could all get H1N1 shots. When it was my turn, I asked the nurse if she could give me both shots in one arm (yes, the unaffected one). My oldest boy immediately says, "My mother has fake breasts..."I had never even met this gal before. To her credit, she never missed a beat, but she must have wanted to pee her pants. Then there was the time that my littlest guy asked me what happened to my "buttons"
. It took me a few moments to figure out what the heck he was talking about!!!

Funny stories!
This is a story my pcp told me. His mother had breast cancer and a single mastectomy.
She is sort of old fashioned and very busty. Anyway, she used to wear a form weighted with bird shot so the form would a similar weight to her breast. Going though airport security one day, she set off the metal detector. So she just reached inside her blouse, whipped out her fooby and put it on the conveor belt before going though the metal detector for a second time. -
These are some funny stories!
Bobbie - that is so something my son would come out with!
Actually, I am reminded of a friend of mine. She had long straight hair, that she always wore back in a pony tail. She decided to get it cut shorter, and into a style. So, after she had had it all cut and styled, she arranged herself all prettily on the sofa for when her husband came home from work. Not only did he not notice her new style, but said to her "isn't it tomorrow you are getting your hair cut"!! She could have clobbered him! I swear, they don't notice a thing these men of ours!
-
Oh these are great stories! Will I ever be able to go through airport security again and not be looking for a loose fooby on the conveyor??
-
I am laughing so hard................ I love these stories.
I went to my annual Ladies Christmas Dinner last night and told them that I had just bought my new foobs then proceeded to get felt up by 18 women - I guess you can say we're a close group.
-
Ha ha Loved your story. I started wearing the foobies around six weeks post bilateral mast. I was amazed at how good it made me feel. Less android and more vah vah voom. My husband was giddy about them and one time I came in our bedroom and found him snuggling them. I think he was joking to make me laugh......then again!! LOL It was hard to give up the foobies during the radiation and recup from that, but the 'girls' are back out for the holidays. Thanks for sharing your story.
P.S. For some reason my profile doesn't show up. STage IIIa HER2+, bilat Mx 3/09, port, TCH 4 1/2 months, 6/24 nodes +, oopherectomy, 33 rad tx.
