Is it True?
that your hair grows back on taxol?

Mine started to grow back a little in between ac and taxol but then stopped and didnt start again til I was done BUT that being said - you are getting a different dose of taxol so maybe.
Guess that wasnt very helpful.
-
Mary, everything you say is helpful!
Mine started growing on Taxatore, but as you are doing taxol, that's not very helpful either!!
-
:-) Kerry - tell that to my kids - they certainly don't think so.

well I just realized chemo will be over in April-will I have some hair by July? I don't want to go to Hawaii bald. Here's a business idea- wigs you can swim in!
-
They do have wigs you can swim in but very costly....
I will dig up some pics - I went to Texas with no wig in Feb and had finished chemo in November. I ll email you. I have posted enough of myself all over this site - people are going to think I am picture crazy!
-
You will have "man hair". I thought I had so much hair at that point - when I look at photos of myself it is still so short. If you look at FB, there are photos of me camping in the summer. I finished chemo end of April, they were taken in August.

My hair started growing on taxol.
-
I had dose dense AC and lost all my head/pubic hair. Then I started 12 weekly Taxol/Herceptin tx.
Taxol made me lose all remaining hair (arms/eyelashes/eyebrows), however, as I was losing the body hair, about 1/2 way through Taxol my head hair started returning. It came back almost completely white initially ... very striking ... gradually the pigment returned.
By surgery time, I had given up the scarves/hats. That took, oh, about 6 weeks. It grew quickly.

I had dose dense AC and lost all my hair including body hair, but still had my eyebrows and eyelashes. Then I started dose dense taxotere and the hair on my head started to stubble, but as soon as that happened my eyelashes and eyebrows quickly fell out. By the end of taxotere I had the beginnings of a good head of hair, but it was salt and pepper gray. Then after a couple of months the gray disappeared and it was back to my brown color but very curly where my former hair had been straight. Several months after taxotere was done my eyebrows and eyelashes came back but body hair has been sparse.
My hair continued to be very curly and full of great body--I really loved it for 5 years. Three months after I stopped the AI's it returned to the limp flat hair I had always had but no gray, still brown.

I just finished Taxol #9 of #12 and my hair is growing back much darker than before- a fuzzy GI Jane look. Once it's a little longer I think I'll be ditching the scarves and bandana's. I did however, lose my eyelashes and eyebrows with Taxol which bothers me more than the hair.
-
I finished taxol on June 15th (2006) and ditched the wig by the end of August.
-
I finished chemo on Oct 27th, and had a very thin, very short "layer" of hair covering my entire head on Christmas day. It came in that funky not found in nature battleship grey color, and you could see my scalp through my hair. By mid-January, it was an adorable (if I do say so myself!) cap of hair, think Audrey Hepburn pixie cut, that I LOVED! Perfect for the beach I'd say :-)
-
Mine did not grow back at all on Taxol but from April to July you have about 3 months and yes you should possibly have enough hair to go to Hawaii. I am 2 months PFC and since it is coming back darker if it was summer I would almost be ready to go without my wig. Because it is getting cold here I will wear it for a few more months. My hair has really filled in mostly everywhere except pretty thin on the top yet.
-
I had dd AC/TH and lost eyebrows and lashes on Taxol by week 5 or 6, with no hair growth until I was all done. My last treatment was 1.15.09 and it was April 1 or so before I could abandon the wig/headwear; by then I had white pretend hair that was not awful. That first crop goes away. I have very thick, very curly hair now, where I had very thick very straight hair before.
Still not happy with lashes.

Hi PureE,
My head started growing back on Taxol but it took my eyebrows and eyelashes. The great news is, though, within 3 weeks of finishing I was having my eyebrows waxed. They weren't back completely but they were growing in "ungroomed" and I was starting to look like Bert (of Bert and Ernie). Bottom line, they came back FAST!!
For what it's worth, I also finished in April. I stopped wearing my wig at the end of July. I will say that I'm sure I wore my wig much longer than most people would but I'm vain that way. I even wore it on the beach up until then! If you're comfortable sporting really short hair I would think you'd be fine by your trip. Good luck!

I finished with Taxol and did notice my hair growning back. My eyebrows grew in very quickly after topping everything.
-
My hair started to grow back on DD Taxol, but lost my eyelashes and brows. They grew back in quickly, but have lost them 3 more times post tx.
Last chemo 2/15/09. This last time, the brows just thinned and the lashes fell out slowly while new ones were coming in. Hope the brow and lash thing stops soon!
-
I had my last chemo on Nov 19th and still every few months my eyelashes fall out but each time they thin less and less when it happens - Normal people lose eyelashes all the time but since it is all the time you only notice one or two every once in a while (make a wish!) but with me I lose a lot all over a few days and then nothing for a few months again.
