So I have 1 more round and I am half way through. Whoo hoo.

    I then start taxol part.

I am meeting with doc next week

    Currently I know I am

    er pos

    her neg

tumour is 2 or 3-I think 3 but was on verge of 2 in terms of agressive

nodes were self contained and some were small less then.5mm

    very deep margins

So 3 questions in preparation if anyone knows!!!

    1) What else should I know ? I saw somewhere about the bloom richardson scale.

What is that? What does one do with that?

    2) Also-why do a full hyterectomy versus a  oomph. I am 98% er pos.

    3) If my doc says No to the tamoxifin test what should I do? I really want it. Switch docs?

The Bloom Richardson Scale helps to determine the grade or aggressiveness of the tumor....The higher the score (from 1 being the least agressive) to 3 (the most aggressive)......This helps to determine types of treatment.....Also if you are node negative ask for the OncotypeDX test...This will determine if you really need chemo or not....

As for the full hysterectomy versus only an ooph.....My OBGYN/Oncologist said that with the Tamoxifen I was taking it was causing really bad cysts that were suspicious for cancer....There were also solid masses in my uterus from the Tamoxifen.......

As for the last question I don't see why your oncologist would turn this test down....It only tells them if you are metabolizing the Tamoxifen efficiently........If you aren't matabolizing it then it won't do you any good.....

    Hope this helps you somewhat........

oh ok-thats right my biopsys (had 2 of them) said grade 1  but the path said either 2 or 3-I think I was on the border. I always wondered how 2 biopsys previously to path said grade 1 but then the path said 3. How could they possibly get that wrong. The 2 biopsys were done at 2 different labs and both said grade 1.

How often will you receive taxol?

I'm being offered the option of taxol once a week x 12 or 2 a week x 4 cycles and I'm not sure what the benefits are one versus the other.

Also my sister with bc, had a full hysterectomy instead of an ooph and saw a study this year which suggested that a preventative hysterectomymay cause a serious health problems in the future.

The thing with biopsies is they just remove a small slice of the tumor. So the part they tested might have been Grade 1, whereas -the actual overall score for the tumor was Grade 2/3. The good news is that Chemo works best with fast dividing cells, so Grade 3 is more responsive to Chemo than a lower Grade.

I asked about a hysterectomy, and was told it was of no advantage over an ooph, and that they didn't like removing healthy organs if they could help it. So thy only took my Ovaries and tubes. Also she said things sort of move around inside with bits missing. That being said, I don't think there is any problem with removing the Urterus as well if that is what you want. I would ask the Gyn about that.

I hope your Dr would say yes to the Tamox test. If she says no I would certainly question her as to why, and try and get it done somehow. I would imagine she would say yes....

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! One more round, then it is all downhill.

Oh, God, I remember it well! Jack was 9lb 7oz when he was born, I thought I was lugging around a sack of potatoes!! He loved bouncing his head on the top of my cervix, ouch.

Are they going to give you a C-section, or just induce the labour??
