Now an ovary!!?!?!?!

Was diagnosed in 4/08 with IDC, lumpectomy and radiation. That is all behind me. Feeling great. Now 3 weeks ago I have been getting a "twinge" feeling in my pelvis. Kind of like when you are about to get your period. Its not a hurt and it isn't all day long. But since I had a hysterectomy (left ovaries in), I don't get anymore. Went for ultrasound and they called back today say I need to go for a C scan. I go for that 11/25. (so far away) Has anyone else ever had this? I hope and pray that it isn't related to my BC because my GYN said they do go hand in hand. Just really worried.

I'm not sure this is even possible, but can you ovulate after a hysterectomy? What you're describing sounds exactly like ovulation pangs. In any case, hopefully everything will turn out fine... it's good you're getting a scan though; better safe than sorry! Hugs to you!

Are you taking tamoxifen?  That made my ovaries hurt off and on for quite awhile.   Tami

Crunchy: That is what I thought. But my GYN explained that I wouldn't be.

Idaho: Yes, I am on tamoxifen since 8/5/08. It is only my left one though. Hoping maybe that is a late side effect. The twinging isn't all the time. Like it first started for 2 weeks several times a day, then it stopped for about a week. Now last week its back, but today I haven't felt it.

Thanks for your hugs. I got them all. And I'll keep you updated.

I'm also getting ovarian twinges/pain on tamox. I know it's not ovulation since I'm about 7 years post-menopause.

kk69Z - I just wanted to say good luck and keep us posted.  I hope it turns out to be nothing.

BTW - I have been having twinges also.  I have not had my period since September 09 (so nothing in October and nothing so far in November).  Sometimes I feel like it is coming or that I am ovulating, but nothing.  I am also on Tamoxifen.  I have been on it since July 2008.  Starting to wonder if I am beginning menapause.  My hotflashes have kicked up in the last few months and now I am having night sweats.

I hope everything is OK.  Good luck on the 25th.

scrap: I am hoping it is the tamoxifen. I can even handle a cyst. You may be in the start of menopause. I'm 52. Had the hot flashes about 5-6 years ago. They lasted about 2 years. Not real bad. Then had to deal with them when I was put on tamoxifen. But that only last about 1 month. Good luck with yours.

I  had mild abdominal/pelvic discomfort after 6 months of tamox; mentioned it to different docs over a period of 10 months, but they brushed it aside since it was "inconsistent and non-specific". I ended up with severe abdominal pain--large ovarian mass found on CT scan---they were concerned about ovarian cancer--long story short---it turned out benign, but I ended up with a TAH/BSO (everything removed due to large ruptured ovarian cysts) and immediate surgical menopause. Perhaps it could've been caught sooner had I gotten the transvaginal ultrasound I had requested. (we'll never know for sure). So from personal experience, I would strongly recommend a yearly TVUS while on tamox to monitor both the uterine lining AND the ovaries. But I have to add, despite my own experience (which is unusual and NOT the norm with tamox), tamox is a very good preventative medication. (which I continued with another 3.5 years after my surgery).
