HI Everyone, and yes I am finally laughing at all the crazy things that happened on the trip, and it really was no ones fault at all, just one of those times.
I ended up on antibiotics to get rid of the chest cold I had, staring to feel like a human being again.
HunkyD those insurance adjusters are usually so slow, at least in Canada, hopefully yours will be on the ball and get things fixed promptly for you. Just think HunkyD that in January all this bad stuff, and surgery, will be behind you and maybe it will be a bright new year and all things will go well for you.
Yes, get yourself a big dog we used to have a St. Bernard/Collie Cross, he was the biggest baby but he sure scared anyone that came around just because of his size, although I don't know what would have happened if someone tried to break into the house.
Wyomming, Leggy, Kelly, Karen, hope you guys are doing well and had a nice Halloween, this is the time of the year I miss my kids and grandchildren. We only had 10 kids at our house this year, so sad that meant we have to eat all the treats I bought. Of course I only got things that we all like. There is myself my husband that live upstairs and my mother lives downstairs, I love her dearly but I wish we had never agreed to this situation, really gets hard sometimes. Oh well, enough, talk to you guys later and everyone take good care, as you all are very special friends.

Hi Girls,
There are four girls on the Tamoxifen thread, who live in Northern California, so we're meeting at a restaurant in Rutherford CA, called Rutherford Grill. I think I mentioned this restaurant before, it's a local hangout, and close to where I work. After we have lunch, we'll go tour my work place, a beautiful place with wonderful gardens, if I don't say so myself, (I'm one of the gardeners).
Hope your all doing well,
Leggy

Just a brief note...Wyoming, and all of you make me feel better....I don't know how well I would be doing without your support. I am going to pay you all back sometime...I don't know how...we did win $7 on the lottery saturday...well, atctually only came out $4 ahead....bought three tickets. Now how are we all going to get together with that amount of money. My husband takes my sons big dog (chocolate lab) to work with him every day so my son doesnt have to leave her in his home all day. Husband drives around on a route delivery for his job so the dog loves it and so does my DH. So she wasn't home. She will bark like mad at any car or activity that arrives at our home however. One day last week after this burglery happened...husband left her home with me....she went wacko..barking...etc. I was upstairs....got paranoid of course, got my shotgun and went downstairs to main floor.....she thought "what the hell" is grandma taking me bird hunting....she stopped barking and was wagging her tail before I even got to the window. It was the Schwans truck out front. We will survive...thanks so much for all the kind words. Bonnie, yes...still working with insurance....we paid for it for 30 years so I guess we are going to get something. I certainly know that my monthly portion of health insurance has not be wasted. Would please me to death to see some halloween costumes of kids and adults from you gals....I can't do any pictures until I buy a new puter....this little netbook is just a temporary substitute and provides me with internet, and email. Love to you all...Count down for next CBC and onc appointment = 7 days HunkyD

HunkyD doesn't seem like all we do is run from one office to the next. What do you need tweaked? This my sound dumb but do you have new boobs yet? I don't know the process.
Bonnie I would love to see a picture of your dog. I bet he/she was cute with the mix of breeds. I'm a sucker for dogs.
Leggy, Karen, Kelly, and Eli hope you are all having a good hump day.

I hope everyone is doing well. This is the time of year when we all get overwork, stressed, and tired. Make sure to take care of yourself. I have blood work today, keep your fingers X. Treatment tomorrow. I'm dreading getting on the scale because I have all of a sudden gained about 5-7 pounds and I can't get them off.
Keep in touch.

Wyoming...good luck today. I have onc appt next week. To answer your question about the boobs. yes, I have new boobs but still in the process of the reconstruction. Isn't just a one shot thing for me. I will have had 4 surgerys in the past 8 months. I am getting used to it I guess. Wyoming, do you get the steroids with your trts? If you do then that is a weight gain all in itself I have read. Hope you do well....all of you Happy Thursday. One more day to go. Work day is almost half over.....yea! XXOO HunkyD
-
Had treatment today and numbers were great. Some even went down. I get a neulasta shot after treatment. My blood pressure was the highest it has ever been. I think I was a little worried about my numbers.
HunkyD how is everything going, Are you feeling any safer? I hope so because you have enough to worry about.
Everyone have a good weekend. I'm DAT so I'm going to go lay down.
Wyoming

Wyoming...so glad your numbers were down. I am on high blood pressure meds cause mine just continued to rise after all the trts and surgeries...Don't know when or if my doc will lessen my dose, or if it is good to be on high blood pressure medicine for a long time. I am working on my doctors here to get qualified for H1N1 shot....my bosses wife is in the hospital with it now. I have surgery coming up in three weeks and just feel like I want one. They are few and hard to come by here. You have to have a pre existing condition or be pregnant, or caring for small children to get one here. I think I will find out Monday if I can get on the list. Kelly, how ya doing? Leggy, is this your BC meeting weekend with the other gals? If it is...hope you have fun...I would love to see your workplace gardens....seems I tend to really savor beautiful nature more now.....I bet you are full of knowledge about landscaping. Maybe you can post some pics from the meeting or something. I am still stuck with this little netbook but am very thankful to have it right now. Bonnie, are you getting rested up from your vacay? I was curious to see if you have thought about reconstruction anymore. I threw out my foam foobies today....Yahoo. Now, next week is going to be a crappy one for me with onc. appt Tuesday, and a big dentist day Thursday. I have two really bad teeth and hope he can get them fixed before I go in again for surgery. He is really so sweet...I couldn't ask for any better unless Kelly flew here to work on me. LOL! Karen, seen any good new releases on dvd lately? I think that is what we will do tonight, watch movies...we are both DAT tonight. We are still working with insurance people about the theft....remodeling a thrid bedrom to hold one of those 2000lbs gun and document safes....and shredding files that are no longer of use....I worked until 3:15 this afternoon on that part. Now it's time for my beer and massage so I will say goodnight.....Hugs to ya all......HunkyD

Great news Wyoming! Yes, my party is tomorrow, if all goes well there will be six of us for lunch. I'm hoping one of the girls will show me how to post pictures...OLD SCHOOL. It should be good weather for the Napa Valley, 68degrees, yahoo! My ex gave me 8 bottles of wine, really good stuff, so I don't know if any of the girls drink, but I'll bring some anyway. DAt too, off to bed.
-
HynkyD good luck this week. It is a full one for you. We don't have enough of the H1N1 vaccination here either. I was DAT all weekend. Hubby had a headache and vomiting this weekend. I think he had a migraine since he didn't have a fever. We both just laid around and slept. Real exciting at our houses!!!! LOL.
LeggyJ let us know how your party went. Sounds like you had good weather.
Karen, Kelly, Bonnie, Eli and anyone I forget (sorry) have a good week.
Wyoming
-
Great news Wyoming...I hope things stay that way for you.
HunkyD..do they recommend the vaccine prior to surgery. They are giving it only to high risk people here and I know we are not considered high risk unless you are in treatment.
LeggyJ... how was your get together...that sounds like a lot of fun.
Well, I did watch the movie Pelham 123 with John Travolta and Denzel..it was alright. My daughter had the movie UP...it is an animated movie...very funny... I would recommend it.
Stayed over downtown Toronto with two friends on Saturday. We did a little shopping. I mainly was just looking. We do this every year, to get away from it all. It was a lot of fun.
Hope all the Junies are well. Can't beleive we have all come this far already. Have a nice week.
-
Karen, I did get approved for the HiN1. It took a little work for me to get it but I feel better knowing I will get it. My bosses wife has been in hospital a week with itl..she is very ill. I just thought since I was having another surgery in three weeks It would be very good idea. I really don't know much about it all. Just scares me. When I get through this week, I am going to have my own celebration party.....good blood counts...teeth fixed....and a flu shot next week. I hope you all can celebrate some good health news as well.... I will keep ya all posted on my doc visits this week. Next week will be pre-op for next surgery. Take care to ya all. p.s. I do have the the movie Pelham 123 waiting to watch...but it is Monday night football tonight. Maybe later this week. Keep fingers crossed for me please tomorrow. XXOO HunkyD
-
HUnkyD I have my fingers and toes crossed for you.
Karen it hard to believe we have come so far. I want to see UP so I'm glad you gave it a thumbs up.
I plan on doing some shopping this weekend. Probably most of it online.
Junies have a good Tues.

Back from onc appt....I have to still be on the three month plan. He didn't touch my boobs..just felt around for swollen nodes..He was curious about the boob job I think. Said I had had my fair share of surgeries this year and gave me another script for Ativan...yea! Nothing out of the ordinary I guess so that is good for now., No work for me tomorrow due to holiday, and then Thursday is Dentist Day. Wish that was done with too. Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow...Take care all....HunkyD

Hi girls,
My NorCal Tamoxifen get together, was so much fun! There were 5 of us, and we met for lunch. We all talked at once, it was so much fun. The waiter came to our table a few times, before we had to pick up the menu. He took our picture and we all grabbed our boobs..Every man in the restaurant, turned and looked at the same time. Do all men have radar? Then we took a tour of the hotel where I work, and I got a compt. room, so we had a place to just sit around and talk . We all had diff. treatments, so we had a lot to talk about, but one thing we all had in common, besides BC was the feeling that we were finally beginning to feel normal. Me a little slower, but I'm almost there. They are all younger too, so it makes sense.
TMI warning...
Got a card in the mail and I have an appt. with the onc. on Dec. 11th. and I'm wondering did anyone else have problems during chemo. with constipation? I still do and wonder if I should bring that up with the onc. I never told him, because I was too embarrassed, but on the Tamoxifen website, another women brought up the side effect, and discussed it with the onc. She had a bleeding problem, as I did, during chemo., and now noticed blood again. On Sat. I noticed it again. I've been taking stool softeners, and most of the time it helps. Sorry to bring up this subject, butttt shhhitttt happens, and sometimes it doesn't.
-
Glad things are okay Hunky D, the fact they are keeping you on a three month is good as they are being cautious.
Wyoming..if you are a dog lover you will enjoy UP..actually the main dog in it called Doug looks similar to one of my dogs as she is quite porky. Hope it gives you a laugh.
LeggyJ..about the constipation. Yes, I did have it during chemo and I took senokot. While on tamoxifan I did have blood and asked my family doc. She didn't think it was anything but had me do the fecal test for colon cancer. It came back okay. Now on Arimidex , my bowels still are not great but I seem to have a lot of gas problems.... feel sorry for the people I work with... so I was going to ask the onc come Dec when I see him. You should mention it to the doc just to make sure.
Well I am off for the rest of the week and going shopping in the States on Friday...just at the border. It takes us about 2 hours from Brampton to get to the border. Hope you all have a good week.
HunkyD...let us know when you are having that party and I will have a glass of wine here for you.
-
Hi everyone. I loved reading about the get together. Thanks for the TMI warning although I think we can all share anything with each other by now.
I am feeling kinda down in the dumps today. I went for a walk with my daughter on the high school track. She wants to start training to get ready for the Boulder Bolder in May! She made it around twice I think but she swears it was three times. Who knows? Anyway it was sunny and nice so I am glad I went.
One more radiation treatment tomorrow. I asked about having a biopsy and some chemo sensitivity testing but was told that was still experimental and not really advised. Now I don't know what to do. I am really tired of this cancer stuff.
Kelly
-
HunkyD good luck at the dentist. I had a mean dentist when I was little girl and I still have a fear. When you have your celebration have something to eat and drink for me. Are you still dealing with insurance people?
LeggyJ sounds like you had a great time. I had trouble with my bowels during treatment. Not that I was constipated but just didn't go for about a week so I was bloated. I'm doing the same thing with this treatment.
Karen how big is Brampton? Isn't funny how we all like to shop in a different place. I think it would fun to go to Canada to shop. I have three bigger cities from me where I go shopping. On is 1 1/2 hours away but not as good shopping, one is 2 hours away with pretty good shopping and the last one is 3 hours away with no sales tax.
Kelly, I'm tired of all this cancer stuff too. My youngest daughter had a spot removed from her shoulder and it was cancerous. Next week she has to have more removed to get a clearer margin. It seems like every time someone in my family goes to the doc they end up with cancer. I hate the C word!!!!!!!!!
Everyone have a good Friday.

Well today was a good news bad news kind of day. I think I told you all that I could feel new growth in my neck just under my previous biopsies and went today for a PET scan. Then had lunch with a friend and then on to my last (hurrah) radiation appointment.
The PET center called my radiologist all worried because although my liver and lung show no progression of lesions (thank goodness as I really did not want to tell my parents if it was worse) evidently my left lung is partially collapsed. Yikes. How did that happen?
So I spoke to my oncologist and he said as long as I am breathing ok, which I am, I can do another chest x ray next week and see if it is resolving on its own. So strange. Maybe I should complain more although I don't see what the benefit of that would be. A lot of times I just figure as long as pain doesn't stop me from doing what I want, it isn't worth going in for. I see the dr enough. I would rather stay home and read. Anyone have any good book recommendations?
-
Kelly if it is of any help a long time ago I had a collapsed lung and it was just a matter of time and bed rest to have it come back to normal and it did and did not take that long. I am so keeping my fingers and anything else I can cross for you. As far as books go do you like Danial Steel or the other one I heard is good is My Sisters Keeper. I have not read it so it is just hear say. Just take it real easy and don't do much at all or I will come over there and give you a good shake lol. but I am serious just lay low and don't move around any more than you have to.
Got to go now and go sit on the toilet so I can have a good cough - otherwise I will pee my pants. Sure hope this goes away soon.
bye for now and hi to everyone else
Bonnie
-
Bonnie,
That really made me laugh about the cough. And I am in bed surrounded with phone, computer, mail, and a book.
Kelly
-
Happy Friday to all. Hope your lung heals up Kelly, and congrats on the last rads trt! Yea! Bonnie..very funny...but I hope your cough clears up. Wyoming....sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope your trts are not to harsh on you. My dentist appt. was not fun yesterday. He really deadend me up and worked on three teeth. I have teeth numbers 21 and 22 left to work on, whichever ones they are...I don't know. I had 9,10,and 11 worked on yesterday. I took today off work. I was still a little sore from the whole ordeal. I think he drilled up to my eyeball. Got movies to watch and friends coming tomorrow to watch a college football game. Still working with insurance and still researching large safes. Leggy, I have constipation a lot because of pain pills after surgery. I just take Senekot-S to relieve it. Seems to work. I have one surgery left to go in a couple weeks. I need to start thinking about xmas shopping but I will do mine online again I believe. I hope everyone has a nice weekend...supposed to snow here tonight....YUK! XXOO HunkyD

Hi girls, I talked to the chemo. nurse about the poopless problem, and she had me call my GP, so after having to talk to the nurse on call, then the GP, I'm all pooped out..Anyway all is well the GP thinks it's just hemorrhoids, and so did I. She advised me to drink more water, and get Miralax or malox if it doesn't get better with the stool softeners. I'm just really glad I don't have to talk to my really cute Onc. about poop.
Kelly I hope your feeling better, my prayers are with you.
-
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I posted on Friday from work and it didn't show up. I've had that happen a couple of times. Nothing important just small talk (I can't remember what I said). LOL
Bonnie I laughed about your need to sit on the pot while you cough. NOT about you cough but the peeing part.
Kelly how are you feeling? I have been reading young adult fiction so I don't have any suggestions. I do like Judy Piocult, John Grisham, the Kellermans, and some of Oprah's book club authors.
LeggyJ it is hard to talk to your doc about poop especially if he is good looking.
HunkyD my trt's aren't too bad. They make me tired and a little nauseas. But after the weekend I'm fine. Hope you had a relaxing night with the movies.
Friday night we celebrated my grand son's 2nd birthday. They sure grow fast. I will be having Thanksgiving here so this week I will be shopping for the dinner. I like to do the cooking for everyone. The last year didn't feel much like cooking.
Everyone have a good week.
Wyoming
-
I'm trying to post from work again to see if it works. My students are working on a project about the Sioux and Pioneers. Most of them are working.
Hope to find everyone feeling well relative speaking. I need to go shop for Thanksgiving dinner. Is anyone ready to go for Thanksgiving? I try not to wait until the last minute.
Take care,
Wyoming
-
Happy Thanksgiving to all the U.S. Junies. Do you have the turkey, gravy and all the fixins??
I always enjoy those meals.
Kelly...hope you are feeling ok..I am not much of a reader of books, more magazines. I am reading the twilight series books advised by my daughter. Almost finished New Moon. It is alright but so much lovey dovey stuff all the time.
Wyoming...glad your treatments are not to harsh for you. Do you get an extra day off this week.
HunkyD..must say the dentistis one of the worst to go to see. Sounds like you had a rough time. At least that is over.
LeggyJ...yes, that would be hard to handle if they are good looking. Iknow my surgeon was real cute and I would just keep asking question so I could look at him. Silly isn't it.
I am off today...caught a cold... don't think it is H1N1... seems to be happening around here. Thought I would take the day and rest up. Actually it is a very sunny day, not overly warm.
I did go shopping the States last frday... we hit Target, JC Penney, Macys and went to Walden Galleria in Buffalo. It was a long day but fun. I only paid one dollar and 5 cents for the US dollar. That is good here.
Well off to lie on the couch, since I can. Talk to you all later.
Karen
-
Bonnie... you made me laugh. I find in the morning if I dont pee right away ...as soon as I cough or sneeze I am running..... Just had to share.
-
Hi Girls,
I'm going to the beach, for Thanksgiving! My ex-boyfriend with his two dogs, Wolfie and me! We're staying at a place right on the beach, in Fort Bragg, CA. I love this place, it's just a motel, nothing fancy, but they take dogs...There's a walkway, that goes for miles and miles, right out the back door. I'm taking a few extra day's off, we're getting slow at work, and hours are getting cut. Lucky, I paid off all my credit cards, before BC, and have saved up vacation time.
-
Wow, Leggy, that sounds great....should be so peaceful....enjoy your holiday. All the rest of you, I am just going to wish a happy Wednesday to, Tomorrow I get my H1N1 shot in the morning and a then a busy day at work. Wyoming, I have not shopped or thought about Thanksgiving dinner but get this...I put my xmas tree up this weekend....it is so pretty with all the lights....I think I am enjoying it so much more than last year....but...then again...what is to enjoy about last year anyway? Karen, nice to see you posting....Bonnie, nice to see you have the same bladder problems of every other middle age woman...LOL. Kelly...Hugs to you as always....hope you found some good reading...and that you are resting. Time for sleep for me...I love ya all...HunkdyD

Hi everyone. I went on a field trip with my daughters second grade class today. We went to NCAR (national center for atmospheric research) in Boulder. The kids loved it and I am so tired I could sleep for days. I did learn that we live in the troposphere (i think) and I also got covered in bubble solution while the kids did science experiments! See a benefit of not being able to work~ I get to do more stuff with my kids.
