    LIsalisa- that sounds like a wonderful program, I'm jealous!  I always feel that my $35.00 a month gym fee is the best money I could spend. I go once or twice a day so I really get my money's worth. It's so great that you are meeting with trainers and surrounded by strong survivors!

    Carolinachick- I can't hack the treadmill. I'm sort of lazy and really need the motivation of a class environment to work hard, and I love the mental exercise of remembering the steps of the aerobic routines.I think I may make a trip to VS when all the weight loss is done, good idea!

    I've been reading quite a bit about high blood sugar levels and instances of cancer. It seems from what I've read that cancer cells feed from high blood sugar levels. Even artificial sweeteners can raise blood sugar levels so I've given up all diet soda and diet foods. I have been using the natural sweetener from some plant that has been shown not to raise blood sugar. Well, grocery shopping takes forever now. I'm reading everything, and I thought I was well informed before! I went to pick up some chicken stock and had to search and search before I found one WITHOUT added sugar. I mean really, who needs sugar in their chicken stock???? I'm also avoiding nitrates and even found a nitrate free bacon in the regular grocery store, not that I should be eating bacon! My Gnyno had me up my Vit D that's supposed to help too. Plus losing weight, which is much harder than giving up diet soda! I am finding that my cravings are less and I'm thinking it's because my blood sugar levels are more stable. 

    Bold-eating an apple a day, thanks again for all that info. Hope you are feeling better. I bet you did lose weight, how could you not. It's probably just that your body is hanging onto all the fluid it can.

    I'm hoping to get to a yoga class today, but the house really needs to be cleaned so I might have to find my zen moment with a duster.

    Oh my this site has been very quiet. I've been on a business trip the last week and did fairly well with the eating. I tried to stick to salads and added protein. It also seems to help with the puffy eye salt overload that I sometimes get when eating out.

    Bold I hope you are feeling better and over whatever flu thing had you down.

    Carolinachick how was the Zumba class? Is it like Jazzercise? We don't have it in my area.

    Lisalisa. how is the workout going???? It must be fun to have a support group. I sort of do with the 6am aerobic class that I go to. We watch out for each other and they were all so supportive of me during treatment, but I bet it's even better when someone knows exactly what you're going through.

    I'm spending the day sorting through winter clothes and putting away summer stuff. It's nice to find a few things fit that haven't in years. Most of my stuff is classic so black pants, it's fine if they are a couple of years old. I am ditching stuff that is really out of style even if I can fit into some of it! The best part of the day so far is throwing out things that fit last winter but are way too big now! Yippee!

    We leave for Venice at the end of next week. I have a neighbor girl giving out candy at our house so I won't even be tempted to indulge, that will be a first.

    Hi skinny minnies. I did not lose as much as you would of thought having the flu. But at least I am 90% back o normal. I am starting to exercise again. Or at least am very active. Monday is the beginning (again) of the discipline. Barbie I am so proud of you. We can do this!!!!!!!!

    Barbiedahl - I just switched out my summer and winter clothes as well.  What a chore, but I was running out of things to wear since fall is obviously here.  The Zumba class was a lot of fun - kind of like aerobics, but with a salsa and African dance twist to it.  It definitely worked different muscles than running does!

    Bold - so glad to hear that you're feeling better.  Don't worry, the weight loss will continue.  I've decided that if I do what I should do (eat a healthy, lowfat diet and exercise), the weight loss will hopefully be a by-product of that.

    Happy Halloween! This is my favorite holiday and it has nothing to do with the candy. I love the costumes. Right now my bags are by the door and we are waiting for the car to take us to the airport. I'm going to miss giving out candy but I put bags of candy by the door for the trick-or-treaters to take. I was filling the bags yesterday and oh my, the smell of that chocolate! I was so good and didn't have any (mostly because I felt if I started I might not be able to stop!)

    I got on the scale today, 30 pounds so far! I really want to lose about 50 more. It's a long haul, but I have a good start. Lets hope I can eat well and not gain while I'm in Italy! I'm hoping to stick to fish and veg there too. Oh yes and wine!

    Barbiedahl: Arrivederci!! I get to go to rome and Paris in April. Thats why I am pushing to lose weight and get in shape. ( lots a walking) That and get my BMI in the proper range.

    I really fell of the wagon this weekend!!!! Candy, Corn bread, Chili, Wine....... Beer...... Liquors..........EYE YIE YIE!!!!!!!!

    Started today ith Steel cut oatmeal with blue berries and walnuts.

    Well better get going to get rid of all the scary decorations. (There is a lot of them) And go shopping for my daughters birthday tomorrow. I still get so fatigued so I have to push myself.

    Barbie, you are going to have fantastic time in Italy - and eat what you want, all of the walking up and down the cobblestone roads and hills really burns calories.  You will have pasta almost daily, but it is fresh and much lighter than here.  Enjoy!!!  I was there last October and loved every minute of it.

    Hello all. I just wanted to drop in and say that I have slowed my weight loss down to damn near a halt!!! Yikees I am going to pump up the exercise as much as a can. I have treatment tomorrow. UGG. Only 2 more after that. I can not wait to be done all together and be NED. I have my year check up with BS on Thursday. Gulp. I pray that I have a clean bill of health. Not just a Bill.( get it)

    I hope that everyday each of you are healthier and happier!

    Hi everyone,

     Venice was so incredible, it was hard to leave. I have Celiac disease and can't have any wheat products so the Mediterranean diet fit right into my eating plane, plus all the walking walking walking!

    I had the most incredible food and wine and Belini's (champagne and peach juice) yummy. I even drank at lunch some days- so weird. I guess because I didn't have the pasta or bread just mostly fish and salad I did okay diet wise. 

    I went to my strength training class this morning and I'm already sore, uh oh. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. 

    I got a call coming home from the airport that a good friend just found out she has BC. Even my husband got teary, damn disease! Why can't it just leave people alone!!!!! Anyway I had a long talk with her and she's scared as I'm sure we all were when we got the diagnosis. She's so wonderful and positive and strong. I kept reminding her of all those attributes. I just wish no one else had to go through all the stupid treatment. She is waiting for surgery and to find what stage she is in. Say a prayer for her if you are so inclined.

    Hidy ho  fellow losers,

     Working hard to continue on the weight loss train. I've been swamped with work since I got back from Italy so I missed a couple of yoga classes last week (drat) Staying on track food wise, and drinking lots of water. 

    I'm finally down to a size 14 (from a tight 16W), and I'm going to donate my work clothes to a local charity that helps outfit low income women who need appropriate clothes for job interviews and the like.

    You know they say "nothing tastes  as good as thin feels" and I always thought really? does that include chocolate??? But now I'm finding that I feel so good giving my body healthy food it seems easy, as a diet never did before.

    I feel like my body has been through so much and I want to support it by fueling it with the best food with good nutrition. 

    Still having some leg cramps (from Tamoxifen) but it's not too bad when I remember to be sure that I get plenty of magnesium in my diet.

    Keep up the good work everyone! 

    PS I just read something about pomegranates being really good as a prevention of BC. I'm going to add them to my diet.

    I agree, Barbie.  My body really does feel better when I fuel it with healthy food.  I feel so sluggish when I eat junk food that most of the the time it isn't worth it (notice that I said MOST of the time - there are certain times that you just need to eat cake!)

    I've been having some pain in my legs, so I have decreased my exercising and the scale shows it.  I hope to get back on the bandwagon this week.  The weather here is beautiful, so that helps motivate me to walk during my lunch hour.

    Just purchased the turkey for Thanks-G. We have two other couples joining us so it should be fun. No family this year.... everyone has other places to be.

    I'm hoping to get enough work done to take Wednesday off for veggie cutting and pie making. I'm planning on making a cheesecake too since I can't eat pie. I have to have some calories, I mean it is the day to over-eat!

    I just got a notice for a check with my Onc in mid December. Funny it made me feel sort of sick inside. It seems the further I get from all the chemo and everything the harder it is to be reminded of it. My Onc should be happy with my weight loss as I could tell he thought I was sort of a "bigger" patient than I should be. 

    It was beautiful here today, in the 50's which for NE is exceptional in November. I did manage to get all the lawn furniture in. I remember how much work it was to take it out, but then it had only been a couple of months from my ending chemo. 

    I am hoping to workout a little bit more in the first half of the week since my plan is to pile my plate with potatoes! I guess I could load my plate with veggies, but that isn't nearly as tasty!
