oh vivy, so sorry for the aches, rotten ds, and all that stuff (some day I will share my theory on men/boys and all that stuff). Hope you had good sob, and are feeling better. hugs
Shiny- my word your ds has had some really big moments- being able to tell you what he is sad about! Sounds like the schools are being helpful and following thru on their end of the bargain. Lots of changes for him - hugs from me to him! Seems the acucpuncture is making a bit of a difference - I notice that when I have a reiki session, I feel different, better, can't really explain it but its better. Whatever helps!
Coonie- watch who you calling old !!!
-
Hey Coonie, Been thinking about you all. I have been busy with the kids and definitely not cleaning. DH is traveling which just makes my job nonstop! Hope you are doing well.
Hugs to you all!
Linda

Getting ready for the pink:
Shiny-dearie. I selected these particular doughnuts for your dear children. I know how the sprinkles may offer a smile. What a challenging time this transition must be for your little guy. Everything that helped hold him together at school has been removed. Know that with time they will rebuild his world. Thank heavens you are there to direct his transition. The teachers will grow into understanding him better, with each passing week.
and VivvvvvvyGirl..... eat these up with glee. I am just so concerned for you and I think doughnuts with sprinkles must be the magic answer. Or at least contemplating the picture of them -- when things were simpler might bring you a smile. We are all here for you. Know that. Please 'jump in' and allow us the privledge of holding you up..... that's why we joined this club, after all!

In the midst of all of this wedding excitement, it is also the EXACT moment when all brain cells must be devoted to the birthing of my second picture book. Yesterday I spent a lovely chunk of the day with magnifying glass over computer screen to proof the proof. We are going to truly give it our best shot to get this thing to press in time for a launch at the national convention in Nov. Realistic? Not in the least, but we're going to see how many fairies and sprites are willing to work over-time in pursuit of a worthy goal. (Can you see my hair getting gray-er as I type? LOL)

((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) to all you dustbunnies!
Faith...it's good to set your goals high! I just pray for as little stress for you as possible during all these momentous occasions your facing...
((((Vivy)))))))))) hope your week has gotten better...
(((((((Linda))))))))))) this is why "empty" nest syndrome is so hard...you're so busy for so long and then it stops!!! Quck true story: When my dd first moved out a radio show that I listened to every morning would play butterfly kisses and every morning I would cry. Sooooo one day I called and asked if they could not play it for a couple of day...the man asked why and I told him that my dd had just moved out and that everytime I heard that song I bawled. Unbeknowst to me, it was the dj that I had just spoken to. After a commercial he came back on and said he wouldn't be playing Butterfly kisses for a few days and explained why...yikes! A few minutes later a good friend of mine called and said, "Was he talking about your"??? True story.
I'm not gonna try to list everyone individually, but know that my dh and I pray for all of you in the evenings while saying grace. xoxoxoxo
-
Great story Arnie. I hve awhile before I am an empty nester. I would like to try it out for a weekend though!
-
Awhwhh Arnie-----what a neat story!! Just think---when the next gets empty, they come back with wittle birdies.....My nest isn't empty yet, but I've been giving instructions that I want some grandkids......at least one. Of course, it would help if she were dating......hehe
EWB-----
uh ohhhh!! Did I call somebody old??? whewwww......sorry 'bout that
I've got a little plaque that says "old ladies are just antique little girls" LOL
-
Beautiful story. Beautiful song. I love that song too and it always makes me cry. (I don't even have children.)
-
Coonie - I think EWB was chastizing you for calling yourself old! Which is ludicrous - you are a baby!
Arnie - that is a great story!
Vivy - humongous hugs - rant away - this is the best place if you want understanding people.
Faith - even though I am not supposed to have them, please send a donut over here.
Love to all
-
Boy, I am having a great time as empty nester! very little effort is needed to keep house picked up (its the purging that takes a little effort but at least no one is bringing more INTO the house)
Coonie- YOU may be an antique little girl, but I am ...well... I don't know what I am except 49 ;D
Faith- do you ever get tired? I wish I culd get a little of that enthusiasum and energy!!! How are things for the wedding? I love weddings- so much fun and excitment and love and possibilities.....
Linda- how are you making out with the boys in school and dh away?
-
DH will be home tonight, thank God. I can handle it but sometimes it's nice to have him do some homework, or dscipline etc, so I don't always have to be the bad guy.
Can you believe it's 85 and humid here today!!
-
same here--yesterday it was very humid, rained overnight and seems to be doing the same thing today.
-
looks like it's going to rain but it hasn't. I am enjoying this last hurrah!
-
You guys are getting what we had for the last 3 days...today the humidity was down a bit...sooo maybe it'll get to you guys by tomorrow. About 78 degrees today...big change coming Monday though...62..eeks!
I just got the call from onocologist's office...colonoscopy 9/30, radiation orientations 10/2, port removal 10/6..(the same day that Texas has her last tx and coonie's dh's birthday). Soooooooo I've been cleaning like a mad woman today!!! Took down all the "summer" stuff and put up all the "fall" stuff and cleaned all the bookcases and shelves. Totally wiped out...called dh and told him to pick up some dinner!!! lol
Hope all you dustbunnies are having a blessed day!!! ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

I have literally spent the entire afternoon on the phone -- in such a positive manner.
First with my new SIL for a chunk as we thought thru all of the details regarding their little Sun afternoon cocktail reception. I think we've got a final count now on how many mini Maryland crab cakes to have on hand etc etc.
Then with his mom. Have I told you how much I love HER?? We share the same first name. She is a LONG time BC survivor: seriously!! (She's over 20 years out and had all sorts of treatment back in the day including a bone marrow transplant at one point. She still has LE issues, but is the dearest person you could ever meet.) She is newly retired from spending her professional life with children w/special needs and both of our daddies spent their professional lives as clergy.
Small world? We're like sisters separated at birth.
Then I talked with the nearly-bride, about the other 2 marathon conversations..... and finished it all out with the Matron of Honor. Is that a real term?
Can't remember, but I don't think I've told you that the kids have an entire website devoted to next weekend. If you're bored & want to peek in: www.zhollister.com you can see where things are slated to take place...... and start sending your good weather vibrations ahead of time.
Tomorrow is my 'regularly scheduled' visit to my onc. Oh yippee! I guess I've been too busy to even think about it much. What a crazy time to go to that office. Feel free to climb into my purse & pockets to offer distraction and keep me company.
Hope that everyone has a pleasant evening & sleeps soundly.

Faith!!! Just checked out the website...what a brilliant idea!!! Looks to me like you're all gonna have a blast!!! It's getting close now
-
EEKS!!! You guys know I don't panic very often but I start taking Femora tomorrow for 5 years... has anyone else taken it??? When dh was just reading me SE's, it stated weight gain
AND HAIR LOSS!!! Has anyone experienced hair loss while taking Femora? I just started to get my hair back... don't want to lose it again!!!
-
Oh Arnie....I have been on it since February 2007, and with any luck for many, many yrs (as long as it keeps working). Everyone reacts differently to it, hard to know but I imagine you will be fine. I have not heard much about or experienced the hair loss and although I have lots of the other SE issues there is no reason to think you will. Just remember that each day is one day closer to the finish date! You can do this and I'm here to walk with you sweetie!!
-
Thanks EWB...((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) I was just freaking out...but glad to hear you didn't lose any more hair. I hope your other se issues will go away! Well, I'll let you know...gonna take first one in the morning. Thanks again Elaine for answering me
I feel better now...
I don't know what I'd do without my friends on this site...xoxoxo
-
Arnie. I was all freaked out over starting tamoxofin.
Not on the advice of my onc nor anyone here -- but for the first couple weeks I took the prescribed pill & cut it in half. It was my own solution to tip-toe into the new routine.
When I later "confessed" to my onc, he smiled wryly and nodded his head.... hmmmmm, what ever it takes to get you over that threshold..... or something of that nature was his response.
I may have only done it for a week, but it was my way to adapt.
Sending you some extra prayer support, as you cross this particular bridge.
xx00xx00xx00xx00xx
-
Thanks Faith! I was still up reading on the thread "Femara"... Someone else mentioned that they split their pill and took half in a.m. and half in p.m. Think maybe I'll do that!!! lol I would appreciate the "prayer support" and will be praying for you guys too. (((((((hugs)))))))))
Now.. I think I can go to sleep...lol

Hello Dust Bunnies.
I haven't posted much for a while, I've been struggling a bit with SEs of Taxotere so although I have been reading and trying to keep up with you all, I haven't felt up to posting.
Arnie I hope all goes well with the Femara. Also hope you managed to get some sleep.
Shiny hugs to you and DS. I know this transition must be very difficult for him. It is brilliant that he was able to tell you why he was upset though.
Viv I hope you are having a better day today.
Faith Good luck for your onc visit. I just checked out the wedding website and it is fabulous. What a beautiful setting. My American SIL got married on the Chesapeake Bay. (Not her wedding to my late brother, but when she re-married in 2007. We took over a local B&B for the weekend and had a great time.) Your outfit sounds stunning, can't wait to see pics. Have an absolutely amazing weekend.
Hugs to all Dust Bunnies. xoxoxoxo

Arnie If you DO have problems with the Femara just switch to Arimidex....I had better luck with Arimidex tan Femara as far as SE's go....
Shiny, hugs to that beautiful DS and you.....I had a niece who was Special Needs and it always took her a long time to transition to new settings.....She was very special as she was not expected to live to be 5 yrs old but she lived to see 12........I still think seh would be with us today if a certain stupid nurse at UK Hospital had done her job right.........
Vivvy, hope you are doing much better today...Gentle hugs to you, sweetie...
Coonie, so glad to see you post......

Jayne_in_UK... ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) I totally understand!! There were times I'd read to keep up on things but didn't feel like posting either. So glad to see you though! Where are you now in your treatment?
Faith...been thinking about you alot sister! With all the irons in your fire I've been praying for "NO STRESS, NO STRESS" I split my first Femara pill in half this a.m.
HollyAnn... they couldn't put me on Armidex because I had a partial hysterectomy. How's life after getting back to work? You seem to be doing well...
Hope all you dustbunnies have a blessed day... and remember...
-
Big hugs for you (((((Jayne))))!!! So sorry about the crummy SE's. Just remember, it's only temporary and they'll go away as soon as you quit getting that "potion" as Shiny calls it. Hang in there. I think about you everyday and can't wait until your treatment ends!!
Same for the rest of my sistahs.......MaryRose, Arnie, Shiny (in pain), Cheryl, Jaimieh, Kathleen...and on and on...... Love to you all!!!

Thanks Bunnies for your hugs and support, it really does help.
Arnie the good news is that I only have 2 rounds of Taxotere to go! I saw my onc this week and she said we could go 4 weeks between treatments instead of 3 to allow my body to recover a bit more. She didn't like the look of my oral thrush and by the time she saw me it was loads better than it had been . Actually I must have looked rough because she asked if I wanted to stop the chemo! I certainly don't want to stop; I still need to whop those cancer cells. She doesn't want me to stop either so that was when we started talking about what changes we could make to help me get through it.
Coonie yes I have been pleased by how the SE's do go away even in between treatments. Just think I'll only get to experience them twice more and I'll be done!
Hi Lucy it's good to see you post. I hope your job is going well despite the weird hours.

Arnie - I've been on the Femara since April. My last chemo was Jan 19 and I still only have about 2 inches of hair...it is growing very, very slowly....not as fast as other women on the Hair, Hair, Hair thread. I also see a couple of fall outs every once in a while, but no shedding. I've also put on 10 lbs since I started and I'm hungry all the time. Since last year, I've put on 20 lbs. I've got to do something because I'm pushing 200 and I was 150 only 4 years ago. They put me on antidepressents then, and I just ballooned. My psychiatrist told me I could be "fat and happy" or "skinny and dead." (i.e., if I didn't take the antidepressants, I'd commit suicide). Some people can carry off extra weight, but I'm only 5'1", so I just look fat. I also have a tummy now that I never had. I've always had a big butt and big hips, but have been small up top. I guess I'm developing into a "new me." I'm hoping that when I have my proph mast on the right in Nov., the plastic surgeon can either do a tram flap or DIEP. I see him on 10/12 to discuss it.
On the housework front, I'm going to declutter my living room and bathroom a bit this weekend and, if I have to, I might sweep. No dishes, though, because DH had gastric banding on Tuesday and can't eat.
-
Thanks for sharing Jane... It's definetly not an easy road huh? I've gained weight too, don't know how much because I don't let anyone weigh me and I don't weigh myself. I just go by how my clothes are fitting and they're getting really tight!!! eeks! He told me to expect to gain weight on Femara. I have a question for you, how do you sleep??? I was reading on the Femara thread that alot of the women have trouble sleeping. My hair has been growing in fast, it'll be interesting to see if it slows down. I just took my first 1/2 pill this a.m. Will take the other half this p.m. Decided to do this after doing some reading... I'm on Lexapro, have been for many years... Anyway, I guess we'll do this together, right? I'm just a few months behind you. Will be thinking of your husband on Tuesday...let us know how it goes.
Well, I have gotten alot done this last two days... All the carpets have been cleaned, the wash is done, the shelves and bookcases are clean. Put up all my Fall decorations...blah, blah, blah. I miss Mom coming on and chastening me...
Hope all you dustbunnies have a good evening...
