Shiny- my word your ds has had some really big moments- being able to tell you what he is sad about! Sounds like the schools are being helpful and following thru on their end of the bargain. Lots of changes for him - hugs from me to him! Seems the acucpuncture is making a bit of a difference - I notice that when I have a reiki session, I feel different, better, can't really explain it but its better. Whatever helps!

Shiny-dearie. I selected these particular doughnuts for your dear children. I know how the sprinkles may offer a smile. What a challenging time this transition must be for your little guy. Everything that helped hold him together at school has been removed. Know that with time they will rebuild his world. Thank heavens you are there to direct his transition. The teachers will grow into understanding him better, with each passing week.

and VivvvvvvyGirl..... eat these up with glee. I am just so concerned for you and I think doughnuts with sprinkles must be the magic answer. Or at least contemplating the picture of them -- when things were simpler might bring you a smile. We are all here for you. Know that. In the midst of all of this wedding excitement, it is also the EXACT moment when all brain cells must be devoted to the birthing of my second picture book. Yesterday I spent a lovely chunk of the day with magnifying glass over computer screen to proof the proof. We are going to truly give it our best shot to get this thing to press in time for a launch at the national convention in Nov. Realistic? Not in the least, but we're going to see how many fairies and sprites are willing to work over-time in pursuit of a worthy goal. (Can you see my hair getting gray-er as I type? LOL)

Great story Arnie.  I hve awhile before I am an empty nester.  I would like to try it out for a weekend though!

Beautiful story.  Beautiful song.  I love that song too and it always makes me cry.  (I don't even have children.) 

Boy, I am having a great time as empty nester! very little effort is needed to keep house picked up (its the purging that takes a little effort but at least no one is bringing more INTO the house)

Faith- do you ever get tired? I wish I culd get a little of that enthusiasum and energy!!! How are things for the wedding? I love weddings- so much fun and excitment and love and possibilities.....

same here--yesterday it was very humid, rained overnight and seems to be doing the same thing today.

You guys are getting what we had for the last 3 days...today the humidity was down a bit...sooo maybe it'll get to you guys by tomorrow.  About 78 degrees today...big change coming Monday though...62..eeks!

I just got the call from onocologist's office...colonoscopy 9/30, radiation orientations 10/2, port removal 10/6..(the same day that Texas has her last tx and coonie's dh's birthday).  Soooooooo I've been cleaning like a mad woman today!!!  Took down all the "summer" stuff and put up all the "fall" stuff and cleaned all the bookcases and shelves.  Totally wiped out...called dh and told him to pick up some dinner!!! lol

Oh Arnie....I have been on it since February 2007, and with any luck for many, many yrs (as long as it keeps working). Everyone reacts differently to it, hard to know but I imagine you will be fine. I have not heard much about or experienced the hair loss and although I have lots of the other SE issues there is no reason to think you will. Just remember that each day is one day closer to the finish date! You can do this and I'm here to walk with you sweetie!!

Arnie. I was all freaked out over starting tamoxofin.

Not on the advice of my onc nor anyone here -- but for the first couple weeks I took the prescribed pill & cut it in half. It was my own solution to tip-toe into the new routine.

When I later "confessed" to my onc, he smiled wryly and nodded his head.... hmmmmm, what ever it takes to get you over that threshold..... or something of that nature was his response.

I may have only done it for a week, but it was my way to adapt.

Hello Dust Bunnies.

I haven't posted much for a while, I've been struggling a bit with SEs of Taxotere so although I have been reading and trying to keep up with you all, I haven't felt up to posting.

Arnie I hope all goes well with the Femara. Also hope you managed to get some sleep.

Shiny hugs to you and DS. I know this transition must be very difficult for him. It is brilliant that he was able to tell you why he was upset though.

Faith Good luck for your onc visit. I just checked out the wedding website and it is fabulous. What a beautiful setting. My American SIL got married on the Chesapeake Bay. (Not her wedding to my late brother, but when she re-married in 2007. We took over a local B&B for the weekend and had a great time.) Your outfit sounds stunning, can't wait to see pics. Have an absolutely amazing weekend.

Arnie If you DO have problems with the Femara just switch to Arimidex....I had better luck with Arimidex tan Femara as far as SE's go....

Shiny, hugs to that beautiful DS and you.....I had a niece who was Special Needs and it always took her a long time to transition to new settings.....She was very special as she was not expected to live to be 5 yrs old but she lived to see 12........I still think seh would be with us today if a certain stupid nurse at UK Hospital had done her job right.........

Big hugs for you (((((Jayne))))!!! So sorry about the crummy SE's. Just remember, it's only temporary and they'll go away as soon as you quit getting that "potion" as Shiny calls it. Hang in there. I think about you everyday and can't wait until your treatment ends!!

Arnie the good news is that I only have 2 rounds of Taxotere to go! I saw my onc this week and she said we could go 4 weeks between treatments instead of 3 to allow my body to recover a bit more. She didn't like the look of my oral thrush and by the time she saw me it was loads better than it had been . Actually I must have looked rough because she asked if I wanted to stop the chemo! I certainly don't want to stop; I still need to whop those cancer cells. She doesn't want me to stop either so that was when we started talking about what changes we could make to help me get through it.

Coonie yes I have been pleased by how the SE's do go away even in between treatments. Just think I'll only get to experience them twice more and I'll be done!

Hi Lucy it's good to see you post. I hope your job is going well despite the weird hours.

Arnie - I've been on the Femara since April.  My last chemo was Jan 19 and I still only have about 2 inches of hair...it is growing very, very slowly....not as fast as other women on the Hair, Hair, Hair thread.  I also see a couple of fall outs every once in a while, but no shedding.  I've also put on 10 lbs since I started and I'm hungry all the time.  Since last year, I've put on 20 lbs.  I've got to do something because I'm pushing 200 and I was 150 only 4 years ago.  They put me on antidepressents then, and I just ballooned.  My psychiatrist told me I could be "fat and happy" or "skinny and dead."  (i.e., if I didn't take the antidepressants, I'd commit suicide).  Some people can carry off extra weight, but I'm only 5'1", so I just look fat.  I also have a tummy now that I never had.  I've always had a big butt and big hips, but have been small up top.  I guess I'm developing into a "new me."  I'm hoping that when I have my proph mast on the right in Nov., the plastic surgeon can either do a tram flap or DIEP.  I see him on 10/12 to discuss it.

On the housework front, I'm going to declutter my living room and bathroom a bit this weekend and, if I have to, I might sweep.  No dishes, though, because DH had gastric banding on Tuesday and can't eat.
