Michele, when I had my wisdom teeth taken out the pain needing stronger meds lasted only a few days. Then, I only needed occasional tylenol. I'm concerned you are not resting as you should because you're taking care of your sick kids. Hows Maggie, by the way?
Jaimeih, I have a new blackberry, too! I love it! I posted duplicates when I was learning how to use it as well.
Today it was so difficult at work! I was very busy and having a lot of bone pain. I was unable to stop and rest, eat, pee or take any pain meds. Needless to say, I was in a bad mood! Now, one percocet and laying in my bed I feel a lot better!
Apple and Judy, I love the pictures! -
Cheryl I hope you are resting and feeling better.
Apple~ I love the pictures of you in your gown.
I have honestly after a good cry today resigned myself that the implants are coming out even if we "save" them I am moving on to another type of reconstruction. I'm not saying it to scare anyone because my problems are not typical but I can't deal with this crap mentally anymore. I adore my PS and I know that she has tried everything in her power to help me but this shit stinks
I will be grateful that I have awesome insurance even if it is costing an arm and a leg and I am going to take advantage of it and get some boobies that I can keep for the next 50 years (yup remember my goal is to be an old lady
) So while we are not the party type I am looking to go to NOLA. I am hoping that it is early in the year because I want to be ready for summer next year. I want to run and have no weight restrictions by next summer. Now I just have to make the all the arrangements for everything that I do everyday...... and figure out everything.
So after my good cry I feel a million times better and I am going to start gettig ready for Disney. I am supposed to be on my Blog redoing a bunch of crap but I know everyone here understands what I am talking about.
I will now stop talking about my boob issues...lol....
-
{{{Jaimie}}} Feel free to keep talking about your foobies. It has to be soooo frustrating. If you come to NOLA, I'll come visit you!! Maybe Web will come too! Road trip!
Cheryl, Maggie is doing better. Still has a fever on-and-off but it responds to motrin. Bradley was back to school friday. Jack still hasn't gotten sick!! That kid has the best immune system!
My mouth is still killing me. Really, really painful. Still on tylox. yuck. I'm starting to feel like I can't do this anymore.
Tomorrow, I have a brain MRI scheduled and Tues a PET scan. These are the regularly scheduled scans. Regardless, I still have scanxiety.
Did I mention, I'm having trouble coping??? uggghhh
-
((Bighugs)) Michele we are there with you this week. I promise your mouth will slowly stop hurting if you can prevent it try to stop looking down.
See there is a positive if I have to come to New Orleans
-
hugs to everyone..
spent the evening with a BC sister or two last nite. one talked nonstop and the other.. well, she's my dear friend and we both listened.
-
Michele: Dry socket can cause a lot of pain....when I got dry socket after having my W teeth pulled, I had to go in a few times and they packed the open socket with clove-soaked gauze...it made a world of difference once the socket was filled, but I can't stomach cloves anymore, lol. I hope it feels better soon.
Jaimie: I am so sorry to hear about your foobs....I'm glad you're feeling better about your decision, and hope you have a marvelous time in Disney.
Apple: you truly were a beautiful bride! We went camping up north for our honeymoon, too....I was so scared of running into a bear! I've never seen one though....It was an awful, dingy cabin we rented it sight-unseen, big mistake! But we made the best of it!
Kerry: Oh Happy Birthday!!!! Not sure when it is, so if I already missed it, Happy Belated Birthday!!! ok, 13 pieces: sheet set (3 pieces), comforter, sham, a pillow, 2 bath towels, 4 washclothes, a laundry bag...that's it! It was all good quality, too. I don't like painting in the winter, I need to have the windows open, with my asthma. My dizziness is still bad in the mornings, better during the day/night....nausea was much better today, still have a slight headache.
I see my GP tomorrow for prescription refills only (she actually makes me come in), and then my onc on Tuesday. I sub for the first time since December on Friday....I hope I feel well that day. It will be nice to get back to work.
Hugs
Judy
-
Hey Judy - thanks for the Birthday Wishes. It is actually today, so you are right on time. And, for once, I can say I am happy to be getting older! Hope you continue to feel better, good luck with work on Friday, I am sure you will enjoy getting out into the "real world" again. As for the sheet set - well, I wasn't counting on towels!! It looks like a great set, the colours all go perfectly as well. Bet he is happy to have his bedroom back!
Apple - that photo of you is so lovely! We actually did honeymoon in Niagara Falls! We had a fairly rushed wedding (Immigration) and organised it all in a month. We only had 20 guests, and the following weekend we took a trip to Niagara Falls, got the heart-shaped Jacuzzi and all! It was in the middle of January so too cold for camping.
Jaimie - so, I am going to sound really ignorant here, but what is NOLA? I am guessing the New Orleans part...its a party place? For Boob-jobs?? How are yours doing this morning? I really hope you get it sorted out.
Michele - hope the kids and your mouth are improving! I didn't know you had a Jack as well, great name!
Well, our weekend away was just lovely. Relaxing, fun and normal. The Falls were amazing. Anyhow, I gotta go, the kids are creeping downstairs! Have a great day.
-
Judy~ Whhooo for going back to work
Michele~ I am thinking about you and I can't wait to here that you are still having out with our dear friend NED.
Kerry~ First things, first
HAPPY BIRHTDAY!!!!! It is amazing how we are all excited about birthdays now. NOLA= New Orleans, yup the party place.
I will be calling NOLA this morning and trying to figure out what my cost are going to be. My foobs decided that it would be a good thing yesterday to leak clear fluid. I am beyond frustrated and my culture is coming back negative. So I have to figure out a bunch of stuff beyond what I normally would have to figure out but I WANT BOOBS so I will do it. I will have to arrange childcare for 2 weeks (at least), travel, insurance and a whole lot of crap to figure out. BTW, I hope I do not scare any of you girls who in the future would consider reconstuction because honestly they think I am allergic to something. I have TONS of allergies so it could be one of many things.
Does anyone know how long after removing my implants would I be able to use a prostetic ??
-
Jaimie - I would say as soon as the area is healed and comfortable you could wear a Prothesis. I was told to wait until after Rads, as they can alter the shape of the Chest wall. But if the foobs do need to come out I would say as soon as you are comfortable wearing a bra you could wear a prothesis. I still can use normal bras with mine, don't need pockets or anything. So, is NOLA a special place for Plastic surgery...?? Sorry, ignorant Canadian here..... Wish i lived closer, i could help out with childcare for you. Hope it works out....
My Zometa kit just arrived. Now waiting to hear from the nurse who will infuse me....
Thinking of you Michele....
-
Kerry I love the zometa kit thing. That wouldn't happen here in the US, everyone has their hands out for that.
NOLA has a breast care center that is apparantly one of the best for flap type of reconstruction. We have local surgeons BUT I am not that big so it will be work finding the "right" place to from and local surgeons would want to do a flap with an implant which is not what I want. I want it all from my body.
I am so looking forward to going to disney. I just want to run away but I can't get away from my own body issues.
-
When are you off to Disney? I remember when i was first diagnosed just wanting to run away too...pity you can't, eh!
-
We are off on Sept 28...I think...I have been avoiding the date since my issues are ticking me off.
-
Well, I hope your boob issues are resolved enough for you to enjoy your trip. How long will you be away for?
-
MRI was clear!!!!
PET scan tomorrow!
-
Jaimie~ I want to go to Disney too. We cancelled our Oct trip. I figured I wouldn't be well enough yet. But, we are planning on going in Jan.
-
I've tried convincing some of my co-workers who are complaining about upcoming birthdays, to give theirs to me. Mine is in October, and I figure if I can come up with two more, I can get Medicare. My biggest fear is that my TN will recur before I can get Medicare, I'll have to take early retirement and will fall through the insurance cracks...I never, ever, thought I'd look forward so much to getting older!!!
Michele, hope the dental procedure is soon just a memory. Hooray for the clear MRI!
Jaimie, Gotta hand it to ya--you are persistent! Good luck on the NOLA venture--you deserve the best foobs in the world.
Just finished 13/36 rads...getting sore but no blistering so far...I understand that happens about #17???
Take care, Furies Helen
-
Michele - Best. News. Ever.
-
Jamie ~ I hope you're able to go to NOLA. If I ever decide to reconstruct, that's where I want to go, too.
Michele ~ Hoorah for a clear MRI!! *happy dance*
Kerry ~ Happy Birthday!! I hope you had a great day.
Hugs to all,
Artemis -
Michele~ Whhoooo for clear MRI. Looking forward to hearing about the clear PET.
Helen~ That is one thing I am is persistent. I will keep working to get it done....and if not I will keep trying.
Artemis~ When I am done I will show you my pictures if you want
I'm going to show someone my new boobies
Kerry~ I am going to ignore any boob issues or any cancer things and just soak in my babies and them enjoying themself. Camera of course will be in hand.
I have another appt. with my ps tomorrow. I am beyong pissed now, left foob is weeping out of incision and right is blistered. I am over my body having boobs right now
Try again later. So unless PS can pull something out of her bag of tricks I am done. I will have them removed which scares the shit out of me but after all that I have had done in the last year...... no big deal.....okay maybe it is but I will just keep telling myself it is all to get well.
I had one of those days today, foobies leaking, toshiba denied my claim to fix my laptop and the place that has it wanted $200 to fix it, new phone issues, whining kid, and dh is still sick. I was on the verge of tears when I called and talked to the laptop repair place and they are fixing it for free for me (I was honestly in tears). They are not thrilled with toshiba it was 2 weeks past the one year....grrrrr..... I told DH I needed the extended warranty...but he doesn't think they are useful
Oh and the hospital called they have been billing someone else for my surgery..lol... Poor girl....lol.... I also volunteered for pre-school and tried to do good today but the technological world was against me today..
-
Ohhh, Jaimie, I am so sorry you had such a crappy day yesterday. I hope you get something sorted out with your foobs today, but I think you are right. It might be better for you to just take them out and start again. It can't be good for you mentally to be dealing with this constantly. Hope you have a better day today.
Michele - heads up for a clean PET today - thinking of you.
Helen - glad to hear Rads are going OK. I didn't ever burn or blister, so hoping you don't either.
Artemis - how is the Herceptin going??
Thanks all for the Birthday Wishes. We had a lovely dinner last night, with bubbly and a cake.I have such a great family.
-
gosh Jamie.. hope things work out for the breast
and Michele.. good luck.. happy for the good MRI..
me. well fall is a busy time. i'm busy.
-
Jaimie~ You and I need to run away together. Really. I'm at the end of my rope. Just can't take one more thing...
So ladies, how's this for comic relief:
I accidentally took too many lortabs in the parking lot at work. I couldn't take any pain meds before the PET and was in agony by the time it was over. I filled a new perscription for pain meds on the way back to work and popped 2 as I was going in.... Well, I'm feeling loopy and drooly and looked at the bottle: "take 1 every 6 hrs for pain". oops. I guess these are stronger than the other ones...
-
Michele~ hehe....I hope you are okay. Happy about everything hugh ??? I am sure you will be fine. I hear you loud and clear at being at the end of your rope. I am hanging by a thread....
Okay I will be going in Thursday morning 8:30 to get my implants removed. I will be under IV sedation (this should be oh so fun) and then we wait to see if I can heal. My PS who I just love took my case to her PS meeting to see if anyone else had any ideas an no one could come up with anything....where is Dr. House when you need him...lol... Anyhow I am going to be fine except for a darn JP drain ....I hate those things... I gotta call my insurance company about covering a camisol with prostetics......
-
I'm sorry Jaimie. You've been through too much with these foobies. Being boobless won't be too bad, I promise.
-
Thanks Michele
. I am off tomorrow to get a cami so I have something. I sound like I am so vain but I just want to look as normal as possible.
-
Oh, Jaimie, I am so sorry. You know, I bet just once they are removed and you are not stressed about them you will feel so much better. Then when you are ready you can regroup and try again. I feel really confident with my new fake boob. You cannot tell at all with clothes on. If you are wanting to swim at Disney I would invest in a swimsuit with fake boobies sewn in. I love mine. You cannot even tell, and I just pull it on - no worries about anything falling out. I will post a photo ....(just gotta get Emily a drink...)
-
OK, it is not a great photo, but here it is....
-
Thanks Kerry. You are right you can't tell at all
I am tired of all of the stress and my PS brought it up today when my DH was there about how you can only handle so much stress.
-
i am totally comfortable with my missing boob. i don't even try to make it appear as if i have a matching set anymore.. just doesn't matter to me. there are some comfy fake boobs that look totally natural... at least when wear it.
-
the beach pictures I posted a while back are with my fake "swimming" boob. you can't even tell which is real and which is removable!
still waiting on the PET scan results.... arrrrgh! the scanxiety!!
