Lisa, good first meeting! Too bad it couldn't be longer.
Wren, good to see you back. What's up?
Well, I'm on the beach. Cathi, if you can "get away" for a couple hours, I'd love to meet up. Take a walk down the beach, maybe. Or bike ride...there are two at the house here, so maybe my daughter and I will ride up towards you. My sister's house is literally the third one south of Indian Rocks in Indian Shores. Right now, the waves are crashing outside, and my daughter and I are both on our computers, lol.
-
Good start, Lisa. Anxiously await the next installment!
Wren! I've missed you. Thanks for saying hi!
Nettie, you are such a trooper. I love your posts.
Nancy, how did your dad tolerate the trip? How is he settling in? I hope you enjoy your time there. It would be so cool if you could meet up with Cathi.
That's all I can remember tonight...I'm too wiped to read everything just now.
It's nice to have kids who love to cook gourmet meals. Just got back from granddaughter's 22nd birthday dinner. She requested filet mignon. My daughter cooked it with a shallot mustard wine/port reduction sauce, candied carrots with cumin, sauteed asparagus, red potato chunks roasted with herbs and fresh garlic, sauteed mushrooms...it was pure heaven. Now I need to sleep.
Much Love to all...Judie
-
Judie - yum! Sleep well after your gormet meal.
Hi Wren - great to see you here again. Hope you start to feel better soon.
Karen - great news! Now you can relax for a while re the girls and concentrate on your evolving new house!

Judie, I LOVE to cook with shallots, so much more sophisticated than onions! I use ginger a lot too, it always surprises people as they can't figure out the spicing....most people use garlic and paprika and stuff like that. Sounds like a wonderful meal!
Nancy, you can ride a bike! Oh bless your heart! I don't think I could even pick one up....sigh.

Lisa,
I am new to this board and thread but I have enjoyed reading about your meeting and I am glad that your visit went so well. How exciting for you. I look forward to reading more about this as the days go on.
Enjoy every minute of it...

Welcome Fran!

BTW, Barb, I saw the wedding pics on FB, I just couldn't comment on them, not sure why. It was a beautiful wedding. The bride and grrom looked great but I think it was the mother of the groom that stole the show!
-
Thank for the welcome. Being newly diagnosed and will be starting radiation treatments in the next few weeks, I am reading and learning as much as possible about what to expect and I am thankful that I found this board to come and learn.

Welcome Fran.
Linda, you can't comment, and either can I, because the poster is not in your network of friends. I got the link only because my son's name is mentioned!
-
Fran, you've come to the right place. If I can ever help you, PM me with questions.
Best of luck to you.
Linda

Thanks girls....I hope I do have more to report!
Welcome Fran!! This is a wonderful thread to be a part of!!
Wren...it was really great having you post...we have missed you!
Judie...omg...my mouth was watering as I read your fab meal!! Wow...very tasty!! Danni's boyfriend Adam is a chef!! He studied in Italy!! Can't wait to have him cook me a meal!
Just got an update from Dennis, and he had scans done last week. He said, it showed a significant reduction of the tumor!! That is good news. I told him, if he is feeling up to it, I will take him out to celebrate!
Nancy...enjoy the beach. You and Cathi just have to get together!!
Barbe...will you post some of the wedding pics here?? I'd love to see them.
Nettie..good to hear from you!
Ladies...I am on day 8 of 12 straight days of work.....only 2 hrs left! I think Alise and I will go out for dinner tonight....treat ourselves!

Wecome Fran
I blundered into this forum on a biting cold day i January here in Scotland, newly diagnosed and terrified. what a blassing I did! You will get so much advice and wisdom here, and not a few laughs too!
Lisa, I am so glad FEC worked for Dennis. It did for me. Finding Tax taxing ... and have just started it ... they will stop at 2 courses if I don't get on with it. Might take them up on it. I feel very strange and mouth is awful, and very sore.
Speak to all you ladies once I have been to the doc's tomorrow.
Have a very lovely evening

Thank you NancyD, geebung, towhee, my3girls,
I think I'm just a bit depressed... need to find some good meds, probably... Happens each fall to some degree (seasonal) but I'm feeling a little more down this year...
Hormones are a part of it; and the season is... Have had some scary experiences with several antidepressants many years ago; hoping for a newer one that could work, although I have never found one that did...
I really do think of all of you every day and keep you close in my heart.
Hugs

I take two antidepressants. Zoloft which has been VERY successful for me for the past 11 years, and Welbutrin which is only about 2 years in (I take both). I don't think I could keep my wits about me without them. We have the knowledge and we have the chemicals and the right to feel good.....
-
Hugs wren, feel better!
-
Hugs Wren dear. I take effexor xr..and like Barbe...my wits would be gone too!! I won't ever go off of it! I am going to get my middle daughter on something, she is ready..and to talk with a professional.
Nettie...the TAX was very tough on me too! They kept telling me it was easier than the A/C, but it wasn't for me. My mouth was a mess, sore, awefull. Good luck at the OC...let us know how it goes.
Ok..back to work.
FYI...I told Wayne, since we are so far away, and seeing each other will be difficult...let's just start off as friends...have fun together, do things together, maybe travel...maybe friends with benefits. That way...if either of us wanted to date...and see what is out there we could. I think he thinks it's a good idea too. I hate to close a door on someone so awesome, just cause of distance...and then..after hanging out...we will know better how we feel....take it from there. Thoughts??
xoxo
Lisa (finishing day 9 of 12 days straight!)
Sue, Val, Mel...where are you ladies??? We miss you!!
-
Lisa, glad to hear that all went well this weekend, although not quite according to plans. but glad that you and he 'clicked'. It may be a good idea to stay as friends for a little bit and not get too attached to each other while you feel each other out and spend a little more time together with each other.
Sheila
-
Lisa, I think your plans for Wayne make a lot of sense and provide the best of everything. Going slowly and allowing things to unfold gives the best outcomes while not excluding any possibilities. Helen
-
Welcome Fran, you are in the right place.
Lisa my DH and I met when he helped moved his sister and family to FL. He is my BF's cousin, he lived in PA and I lived in FL at the time. We survived a long distance relationsip, we have been together March will be 15 yrs and Feb will be 13 yr wedding anni. See it can work Lisa.
I have a hard time keeping up on BCO since I am now back at work.
-
I have a new laptop!!!!!!!!!! I can check in with you all every day again now! Yippeee!!!
Lisa, good for you hon! Sounds like you and Wayne definitely had a spark! I hope it works out and that he's the "one".
Girls, I'm irritated as hell today! I posted a status update on Facebook that read as follows: I don't understand young people. Why do kids with everything going for them screw up their lives? A couple of my friends responded that they screwed up plenty as young adults. I replied that they didn't screw up to the point where they were going to spend 7-10 years in prison like the kid I know. I was referring to my husband's nephew. I didn't name names or anything. I was just very upset because he called me from jaill to inform me that he was convicted of armed robbery and that he would probably serve up to ten years. I was upset and felt sad for him. He's such a handsome, talented boy. I can't believe he fell in with the wrong crowd and became a drug addict. It's such a shame. ANYWAY, my SIL saw my posts and told me she didn't appreciate my comments and that she was removing me from her list of friends on FB. WTF????? I didn't name names and no one knew who I was talking about. I was just sad and feeling the need to vent. Do any of you feel that she overreacted?
I'm so glad to have you all to vent to again! Love you guys!
Hugs,
Karen
-
This is the place to vent!
People are lousy!. The information about his conviction is publisc knowledge anyhow. Tell her to get over herself! Sorry kind of harsh.
Have a great day ladies. Off to work!!!1
-
Karen, while you had no malicious intent I can understand why your SIL would be upset. FB is public and she knew who you were talking about. IMHO, FB is not the place to vent. And even if it's only your FB friends who read it, you are still airing your SIL's private family matters - even though the conviction is a matter of public record. It's just that mostly people would have to go looking for it but you have posted it for many to see who might not know otherwise. I totally understand her position and would think that she is suffering as a result of what her son has done. She's looking to her family for support and probably feels betrayed by what you did. Hopefully, the two of you can resolve this conflict and can support each other.
-
Karen, I saw your FB comment too and chose not to comment on it. I was uncomfortable making a joke or a comment because I didn't know what was going on. Sometimes kids do stupid silly things and then other times they do really stupid BIG things, like your nephew. I don't think your SIL should be upset, no one would know who you are talking about. Everyone is different though. Would you be mad if your SIL posted something aout Portia but didn't use her name?
So glad you have a laptop! Enjoy!!!
-
I need to get on Facebook...you are all on there!! Maybe someday!
Karen...I can see her getting upset...but honestly...she KNEW what you were talking about, and that is why she got upset. But, from what you said...you used NO names, and you didn't even say what that young person DID! So...nobody, but close family would have any idea who or what you were tlaking about! I would have thought you were making a general statement, because I would have not had any idea about what happened.
Maybe you can appologize to her, and tell her you meant no harm etc.
Glad your laptop is back.
Well....I have decided to date around....I may have one tonight, and I have been emailing to two men, who seem...really really nice. Going to get wined and dined for awhile.
I told Wayne...I could be his sex toy! lol
back to work...day 10!
xoxo

Lisa, if I weren't happily married to the best guy in the world, I would want your life!
-
Noooooooooo Linda.....I would rather be happily married to someone I Loved so much!! And treated me really well! My life is pretty lonely.
But...someday.......................
-
Yes, I guess your right, Lisa. But you know what I mean, you seem to have a lot of fun!!
-
Lisa, You go girl have fun and lots of it!!!!!
-
Thanks Mary. I actually just got a call, and I am going on a date with someone tonight..we meet in an hour. First meetings are a bit tough...haha
Linda...are you close to Boston? We fly to Boston everyday. Just wondering...I could always come up for the day sometime and we could have lunch.
